The hotel we stayed at was nice, the rooms were spacious and there was air conditioning but this time there was this smell, like a damp carpet bleachy smell. It was a little overpowering but it did fade away (or we got used to it) after awhile.
I noticed that a lot of the hotels we stayed in all offered breakfast, and they had waffle makers that you could make your own waffles.
This morning we woke up at around 10am

but we were on vacation! Today the plan was to go to downtown seaside and then go to the beach, and make my first sandcastle ever!
I woke up first and took a shower, DBF shower's at night and I shower in the morning or night or basically whenever I feel like it. It was nice to take a long shower and not worry about the hot water running out. For some reason at home my hot water heater only holds about 10 minutes of hot water. After that it's BRR cold. Therefore i've learned to shower quickly.
Dbf got up, got changed and then we drove and parked in a parking lot. The first thing i saw was this sign, which amused me!
We decided to eat at Norma's Ocean Diner for breakfast, only because DBF shot down my idea of having elephant ears. DBF is a party pooper, he's the guy who reminds me to brush my teeth before bed, tells me no ice cream before dinner, candy is NOT a snack, nor are chips a subsitute for a meal and fast food is NOT considered dinner.

But thanks to him my teeth are clean, my breathe is good and my teeth are not rotting.
This sign had me cracking up!
Since it was basically almost lunch time when we ate, around 11am or so. No pictures of food again, i'm sorry i basically totally forget till the very end! No food porn but i can assure you it was VERY good!
DBF had orange juice, and the chowder, salad, garlic bread combo
I had chocolate milk, and grilled halibut, oysters, scallops, squid, salad and garlic bread.
DBF's chowder was actually really good, it was thick and creamy and filling. It came with oyster crackers and I asked him why they were called that and he didn't know.
Here is wikipedia's explanation!
Oyster crackers are small, salted, buttery crackers, typically hexagons about 0.59 in (15 mm) in diameter, although a slightly larger circular variety is also prevalent. They are popular in the northeastern USA, where they are served as an accompaniment to soup, and in the Cincinnati area, where they are frequently served with the city's distinctive chili. In the U.S. state of Vermont oyster crackers are served in oyster stew and chowders.
Oyster crackers do not contain oysters. The origin of the name is unclear, but it may be that they were originally served with oyster stew or clam chowder or merely that their form (a vaguely round 'shell' that splits evenly into two parts) was suggestive of the shape of an oyster in its shell. According to the web site of the still-extant bakery discussed below, the crackers were so named because they were commonly served with oyster stew and other oyster dishes (at least on their early packages).
After a yummy brunch, we walked around the stores and went shopping! I bought a couple gifts for my mom namely a home grown figurine. I bought some chocolate coated almond brittle and chocolate covered sea foam.
We then went to the arcade where we proceeded to spend an undisclosed amount of money on games for tickets. There was this Deal or No Deal game for tickets and it was a LOT of fun. Except that we always lost, We played some skee ball, scat cats (like skee ball except you knock over cats) and a lot of randomn games.
We collected some tickets but not enough to get anything good, so we decided that we would come back later. DBF bought me a Seaside Hoodie, and himself a sweater. At the store the guy asked me a question concerning my t-shirt:
Man: So what do you ride?
Me: Huhn?
Man: Your shirt
Me: *reads own shirt* it says "Hell Yes I Ride"
Man: So what do you ride?
Me: Uh...i dunno....
Man: So you don't know what you ride?
Me: Nope
Man: So where are you from
Me: Uh....i forget...
Man: So you don't know where your from or what you ride
Me: yea
Man: Wow, you must be very lost
Me: *nod* but i know how to get to seaside
Man: Maybe that's what your shirt should say, i'm lost but i know how to get to seaside!
Moving away from that store, we walked along then DBF saw what he saw last year, and the year before that.
Paddleboats, And i said what i say EVERY YEAR, NO!

Except DBF started his "you never want to do anything outdoors" spiel. So i told him i would do it on the condition that he could NEVER give me the "you never want to do anything outdoorsy" spiel again. He agreed, so off we went to put on the life vests. They were bright orange/red and you just stuck them over your head, they were foam and after i got it on i basically could barely move my neck. Then we got into the paddle boat and with a push we were off! To basically steer ourselves into circles.
We ALMOST hit the rocks, the bridge, the other bridge, the side again, etc. you kinda get the idea. We were not good at steering and then DBF said this when we were out pretty far.
DBF: why is there so much tension when i paddle?
Me: HUHN?
DBF: it's like really hard to paddle
Me: No...not really *pushing the pedals*
DBF: hey it just got better...wait a minute! Are you NOT paddling?
Me: HEHEHEHE!!
DBF: You better start or i'll push you off!
Me: fine.
DBF: what have you been doing then?
Me: Well i kinda just rest my feet here, and when you move my feet move
We floated for a bit, then i splashed dbf with the dirty water which made him freak out a bit. Then we decided to head back, it was $20 for an hour and we were out for maybe 20-30minutes? It's really only that interesting seeing as how we weren't allowed to go past certain areas. We docked, and i freed myself from the neck brace.
We were pretty thirsty so we went to an old time soda shop for a chocolate malt for me and a root beer float for him. After that, it was PENNY PRESSING TIME! We got 2 pennies pressed, actually now that i think about it we have never actually collected anything together. More walking, more pressie buying, candy buying. Then dbf wanted to go look at the water so we did then back to the hotel.
We went back to the hotel for two things, rest and to change so DBF could go for a swim and get our sandcastle buckets and shovels. We ended up staying at the hotel watching t.v. for a couple of hours resting and snacking. We particularly like watching
Nat Geo and Discovery. I think that day we watched Mythbusters.
We packed up my sand bucket, shovel, blanket from fred meyers, kite and string and DBF was in swim shorts and a shirt and Me in capris and off we went.
I had my backpack to carry water and the towel, and the sandbucket had the shovel, kite and string. We walked to the beach and got settled.
We tried to fly my kite from china, it's basically a series of small kites ten in a verticle row with streamers. When i opened the package, the streamers basically flew off

the kite flew but not very high and i had some problems getting it up, as because it's super light in strong wind the bamboo bends. We gave up on flying the kite and DBF went to fetch me a bucket of water.
I spent the next half an hour or so just playing in the sand and Dbf tried to swim. I say tried, because the water was cold and he chickened out everytime he got to his knees. I made a castle and then i had this urge to wreck it, so i did...before i took a picture.

I finally know how those kids feel when they feel the urge to stomp on castles. I did take a picture of this though
If you can't figure it out it's a seagull!
After that, Dbf rinsed off my bucket and shovel and put everything back to the car while i walked around the beach and took pictures. We splashed around a bit before heading back to the hotel for a shower, more t.v. and dinner at the same restaurant. Bigfoots for you guessed it prime rib, it was just as good as it was before. After being stuffed to the brim AGAIN, we went back to the arcade to spend another UNDISCLOSED amount of money on tickets. We exchanged our tickets for a keychain and two mini squirt guns. Lets just say that that's the most expensive keychain i own. And two days in the future i would see it at
walmart for the price of $2.99.
After all that, we drove back to the hotel, and started packing up our things for checkout the next day. DBF showered, i watched t.v. and fell asleep.
