An PTR about Waiting And other Dictionary Defined Terms Now w/PICS!

I'm still alive and just back from an AWESOME trip from the states. I love oregon! I have to sleep, unpack, go to work, volunteer before i can start my mini off topic trip report!

Oregon is amazing and I absolutely love it. I have about 200 pictures to upload before I can post them, but i figured i should start on the report before i forget all of it. :lmao:

The day before we left, my friend called me and asked me if I wanted to go to three doors down concert because she could get comp tickets. My answer was of course! Then i realized that i was going to be going to a concert that would end approximatley 5 hours before i had to wake up and get ready for the drive to oregon. :scared1:

I ended up going because my friend refused to let me back out and she had gotten the tickets. So after painting one toenail with red nail polish and finding out that i had no nail polish remover, i spent the 15 minutes before i left for the concert driving to a save on and buying nail polish remover. :thumbsup2 We went the concert, it was LOUD very very LOUD and had churros, pretzels, fries and alcohol ;) I enjoyed hinder, staind but three doors down was definatly the best. :cool1: It was around 11:15pm by the time I got home and i still had to pack. I went to sleep around 12:45am.

Day 1:

I woke up showered, finished packing and waited for DBF to pick me up. We crossed the boarder at around 7am and stopped at Jack in the box for breakfast. I love jack in the box xD Breakfast was yummy (no food porn :( i forgot) I took a nap in the car while DBF drove and by the time i woke up i was in seattle. Took some pictures of seattle and fought over which cd's to listen to next. We then drove down a small little road that the GPS told us to go down and this was our conversation:

Me: Are you sure this is the right way?
DBF: of course, the gps is saying to go this way
Me: But according to that sign the road is closed for construction
DBF: Maybe we can still get through
Me: But the sign says Road ends in 200m
DBF: *roll eyes*
Me: 100m
DBF: *grumble*
Me: Ooh look a construction man is coming to talk to us

He told us that the road was closed and that he had no idea why the GPS would take us down that way cause it was really long. We turned around and continued on our way through Astoria.

Astoria was gorgeous as usual, i mooed at some cows and then more driving before we reached cannon beach. I had requested that we stop there first so i could do some shopping before we went to seaside and checked in.

We parked at canon beach and we walked around and bought some souvenirs, (i will post pictures later) and some treats and an elephant ear! Yum! Then we got back in the car and drove to seaside, it was around 1 o'clock and we decided that we try to check in but sadly our room would not be ready till 2:30. We went to the outlet stores to try to find me some capri's or shorts as i only had jeans and those don't work well with the beach. :headache: I found a pair of khaki looking capri's, that looked much better than the white (see-through) capris  We then checked in to the hotel, rested, watched some t.v.

Then we drove to tillamook because dbf thought that would be fun, except he didn't realize it was 46ish miles away not 26 miles which he thought it was, I saw cows, a cheese factory and a bldg that wasn't swiss chalet even though the gps said it was. I wanted steak, prime rib to be exact from Bigfoots the restaurant next to our hotel. We did go to fred myers which was SO AWESOME! i've never been to a fred myers and i was very very amused and fascinated at how HUGE it was. We bought, a blanket (for the beach), peaches, nectarines, vitamin water, candy and some snacks. We had dinner at bigfoots and stuffed ourselves silly. Their prime rib is so juicy and tender and omg so good... and they serve it with some caramalized squash and mashed potatoes. I don't have any pictures because once the food came i basically inhaled it.

After that it was t.v. and then sleep time with no set alarm, because we were on vacation.

Major updates with the disney trips.

Disneyland is for sure in November, exact dates to be released sometime in October. DBF's work basically requires him to travel alot and he's collecting, marriott points, national points and points through his RBC credit card. His plan is that by November he'll have enough for 2 nights at the fairfield and for a couple free days of car rental. :thumbsup2 Saving us at least 150 dollars.
With his work flying him down, we're essentially just paying for park hoppers, one night at a hotel, my airfare and food.

I'll be flying down 5-7 days before and spending 4 nights with a friend in san diego, and 2 nights (possibly at a hotel) with my friend with the baby.

Disneyworld:

Has been postponed to....*drumroll* 2010 :scared1: Reason, we can't really afford two disney trips that close together and DBF basically agreed to do 10 FULL days if we postponed it. And I'm trying to get him to agree to doing a Disney cruise at that time as well. So if i can get my way we will do 10 Full days followed by a disney cruise (i'm aiming for the 7 day but i'll settle for the 4 day one too)

DBF is basically saying that if we go in 2010 or late 2009, he'll have enough points for a free rental, and hotel (offsite) and probably enough to fly us down on points (or at least one of us) which would offset the costs greatly.

I hate to admit it, but it makes a lot of sense and it gives me the time to go to school on Jan. :yay: Or look for full time work for 2009 and we'll enjoy the vacation more if we don't have to stress about paying for it.

We've decided to do Las vegas in Jan 2009 instead.

I'm not sure anyone wants to read a pre trip report for 2010 lol so i may stop this one after my disneyland report and let it die until 2009 when i start planning again!

The hotel we stayed at was nice, the rooms were spacious and there was air conditioning but this time there was this smell, like a damp carpet bleachy smell. It was a little overpowering but it did fade away (or we got used to it) after awhile.

I noticed that a lot of the hotels we stayed in all offered breakfast, and they had waffle makers that you could make your own waffles.

This morning we woke up at around 10am :scared1: but we were on vacation! Today the plan was to go to downtown seaside and then go to the beach, and make my first sandcastle ever!

I woke up first and took a shower, DBF shower's at night and I shower in the morning or night or basically whenever I feel like it. It was nice to take a long shower and not worry about the hot water running out. For some reason at home my hot water heater only holds about 10 minutes of hot water. After that it's BRR cold. Therefore i've learned to shower quickly. :thumbsup2

Dbf got up, got changed and then we drove and parked in a parking lot. The first thing i saw was this sign, which amused me!

IMGP1205.jpg

We decided to eat at Norma's Ocean Diner for breakfast, only because DBF shot down my idea of having elephant ears. DBF is a party pooper, he's the guy who reminds me to brush my teeth before bed, tells me no ice cream before dinner, candy is NOT a snack, nor are chips a subsitute for a meal and fast food is NOT considered dinner. But thanks to him my teeth are clean, my breathe is good and my teeth are not rotting.

IMGP1207.jpg

This sign had me cracking up!

IMGP1214.jpg

Since it was basically almost lunch time when we ate, around 11am or so. No pictures of food again, i'm sorry i basically totally forget till the very end! No food porn but i can assure you it was VERY good!

IMGP1220.jpg

DBF had orange juice, and the chowder, salad, garlic bread combo
I had chocolate milk, and grilled halibut, oysters, scallops, squid, salad and garlic bread.

DBF's chowder was actually really good, it was thick and creamy and filling. It came with oyster crackers and I asked him why they were called that and he didn't know.

Here is wikipedia's explanation!
Oyster crackers are small, salted, buttery crackers, typically hexagons about 0.59 in (15 mm) in diameter, although a slightly larger circular variety is also prevalent. They are popular in the northeastern USA, where they are served as an accompaniment to soup, and in the Cincinnati area, where they are frequently served with the city's distinctive chili. In the U.S. state of Vermont oyster crackers are served in oyster stew and chowders.

Oyster crackers do not contain oysters. The origin of the name is unclear, but it may be that they were originally served with oyster stew or clam chowder or merely that their form (a vaguely round 'shell' that splits evenly into two parts) was suggestive of the shape of an oyster in its shell. According to the web site of the still-extant bakery discussed below, the crackers were so named because they were commonly served with oyster stew and other oyster dishes (at least on their early packages).

After a yummy brunch, we walked around the stores and went shopping! I bought a couple gifts for my mom namely a home grown figurine. I bought some chocolate coated almond brittle and chocolate covered sea foam.
We then went to the arcade where we proceeded to spend an undisclosed amount of money on games for tickets. There was this Deal or No Deal game for tickets and it was a LOT of fun. Except that we always lost, We played some skee ball, scat cats (like skee ball except you knock over cats) and a lot of randomn games.

IMGP1218.jpg

We collected some tickets but not enough to get anything good, so we decided that we would come back later. DBF bought me a Seaside Hoodie, and himself a sweater. At the store the guy asked me a question concerning my t-shirt:

Man: So what do you ride?
Me: Huhn?
Man: Your shirt
Me: *reads own shirt* it says "Hell Yes I Ride"
Man: So what do you ride?
Me: Uh...i dunno....
Man: So you don't know what you ride?
Me: Nope
Man: So where are you from
Me: Uh....i forget...
Man: So you don't know where your from or what you ride
Me: yea
Man: Wow, you must be very lost
Me: *nod* but i know how to get to seaside
Man: Maybe that's what your shirt should say, i'm lost but i know how to get to seaside!

Moving away from that store, we walked along then DBF saw what he saw last year, and the year before that.

IMGP1227.jpg

Paddleboats, And i said what i say EVERY YEAR, NO! :rotfl: Except DBF started his "you never want to do anything outdoors" spiel. So i told him i would do it on the condition that he could NEVER give me the "you never want to do anything outdoorsy" spiel again. He agreed, so off we went to put on the life vests. They were bright orange/red and you just stuck them over your head, they were foam and after i got it on i basically could barely move my neck. Then we got into the paddle boat and with a push we were off! To basically steer ourselves into circles.

We ALMOST hit the rocks, the bridge, the other bridge, the side again, etc. you kinda get the idea. We were not good at steering and then DBF said this when we were out pretty far.

DBF: why is there so much tension when i paddle?
Me: HUHN?
DBF: it's like really hard to paddle
Me: No...not really *pushing the pedals*
DBF: hey it just got better...wait a minute! Are you NOT paddling?
Me: HEHEHEHE!!
DBF: You better start or i'll push you off!
Me: fine.
DBF: what have you been doing then?
Me: Well i kinda just rest my feet here, and when you move my feet move :rolleyes1

We floated for a bit, then i splashed dbf with the dirty water which made him freak out a bit. Then we decided to head back, it was $20 for an hour and we were out for maybe 20-30minutes? It's really only that interesting seeing as how we weren't allowed to go past certain areas. We docked, and i freed myself from the neck brace.

We were pretty thirsty so we went to an old time soda shop for a chocolate malt for me and a root beer float for him. After that, it was PENNY PRESSING TIME! We got 2 pennies pressed, actually now that i think about it we have never actually collected anything together. More walking, more pressie buying, candy buying. Then dbf wanted to go look at the water so we did then back to the hotel.

We went back to the hotel for two things, rest and to change so DBF could go for a swim and get our sandcastle buckets and shovels. We ended up staying at the hotel watching t.v. for a couple of hours resting and snacking. We particularly like watching Nat Geo and Discovery. I think that day we watched Mythbusters.

We packed up my sand bucket, shovel, blanket from fred meyers, kite and string and DBF was in swim shorts and a shirt and Me in capris and off we went.

I had my backpack to carry water and the towel, and the sandbucket had the shovel, kite and string. We walked to the beach and got settled.

IMGP1231.jpg

IMGP1236.jpg

IMGP1247.jpg

We tried to fly my kite from china, it's basically a series of small kites ten in a verticle row with streamers. When i opened the package, the streamers basically flew off :scared1: the kite flew but not very high and i had some problems getting it up, as because it's super light in strong wind the bamboo bends. We gave up on flying the kite and DBF went to fetch me a bucket of water.

I spent the next half an hour or so just playing in the sand and Dbf tried to swim. I say tried, because the water was cold and he chickened out everytime he got to his knees. I made a castle and then i had this urge to wreck it, so i did...before i took a picture. :confused3 I finally know how those kids feel when they feel the urge to stomp on castles. I did take a picture of this though

IMGP1229.jpg

If you can't figure it out it's a seagull!

After that, Dbf rinsed off my bucket and shovel and put everything back to the car while i walked around the beach and took pictures. We splashed around a bit before heading back to the hotel for a shower, more t.v. and dinner at the same restaurant. Bigfoots for you guessed it prime rib, it was just as good as it was before. After being stuffed to the brim AGAIN, we went back to the arcade to spend another UNDISCLOSED amount of money on tickets. We exchanged our tickets for a keychain and two mini squirt guns. Lets just say that that's the most expensive keychain i own. And two days in the future i would see it at walmart for the price of $2.99.

After all that, we drove back to the hotel, and started packing up our things for checkout the next day. DBF showered, i watched t.v. and fell asleep.

I'm throwing around the idea of maybe staying at either DLH or PPH for one night. But then i'm also wondering if it would be a good idea to move hotels instead of just paying for an extra night at the Fairfield. :thumbsup2

I will sleep on it tonight, think about it at work tomorrow.

So incredibly torn over whether or not to stay at DLH for one night. If i make it the first night, i won't want to leave! If i make it the last night that may work out better. Since we do nap and have our t.v. breaks in the afternoon. We did Disneyland commando last year in Jan, so we've ridden most of the rides, we rode some rides for the sake of riding them. Like jumping jellyfish and various other children rides. :) Though i haven't watched fantasmic, fireworks or the parades, aladdin etc. Hopefully Fantasmic isn't closed in Nov.

Other disney thoughts, Maybe 3 full days, 1 half day and i'm debating whether or not to go to a beach for a night. I'll have 4 days in San diego with my friend and we'll be visiting the zoo and seaworld. Then off to Oxnard for baby viewing, maybe i can get my friend to meet us down by the beach for a night hm i must discuss this with her when she gets on msn!

Must do Rides:
Its a small world (i've never been ;_; and last time it was refurb)
Screamin x5 minimum
TOT x 5 minimum
Space Mountain x7 minimum (LOVE THIS RIDE)
BTMRR
Peter Pan
Jungle Cruise
Haunted Mansion x 4 AT LEAST
POTC
Soaring

Attractions:
Aladdin
Fantasmic (if it's on!)
Parades (aiming for one at least!)
Fireworks

Oh and pet some goats xD
That's all i can think of right now at almost 2am in the morning.

I think that some cosmic force somehow is preventing me from riding It's a small world. I'm not sure what it is, it could be that DBF's chanting at night is paying off or well it's just not fated to be but...

IT'S A SMALL WORLD IS ALWAYS DOWN FOR REFURB when i visit. Last trip it was down, this coming trip it is down. It's probably due to christmas decorations going up and down. Going in nov this year and last year i went in jan, but still!

*sighs*

On the bright side it gives me a reason to plan yet ANOTHER trip to disneyland. :thumbsup2

And i got my entertainment card for HOJO's in the mail today! Thanks Ballarinamom!

I woke up earlier than DBF, i think today probably around 9amish? Check out was at 11am this morning. I took my shower and packed up our stuff, packed my suitcase and DBF woke up after my shower to pack his stuff. We had a pretty good routine going, I wake up earlier due to the fact that i sleep earlier, DBF sleeps in but he stays up later. So while DBF was finishing up his stuff, i brought my stuff and loaded it into the car. By the time DBF was done and ready to check out, everything was in the car waiting to leave. DBF checked us out and we were on our way!

Our plan that day was Newport Aquarium and on the way we were going to Tillamook cheese factory for their tour and have breakfast there.

We got to the cheese factory at probably around 10:40ish?

IMGP1318.jpg

We walked around the area, and was going to buy some lunch but were told that we were about 20 minutes too early. So instead we walked around the gift store and bought some cheese, chocolates, pepperoni and souvies.

After that it was time for lunch, i had a cheeseburger and DBF had a shrimp and cheese sandwich. Mine was very good and I REMEMBERED to take a picture! Tater tots were 1 buck more.

IMGP1326.jpg

After lunch we did the self guided tour

IMGP1327.jpg

IMGP1329.jpg

IMGP1334.jpg

IMGP1341.jpg

And then we had some Ice cream we chose from this list.

IMGP1332.jpg

We had strawberry in a waffle bowl and OMG it was sooooo good! The waffle bowl was almost kind of like a cookie and the ice cream was so rich and creamy.

After that we left and started our drive to newport

and then we were here at
IMGP1363.jpg

IMGP1366.jpg

We go to oddwater and paid for our admission and we walked around and saw these:

IMGP1426.jpg

IMGP1394.jpg

IMGP1396.jpg

IMGP1417.jpg

IMGP1377.jpg

Then we went outside and saw

IMGP1437.jpg

IMGP1436.jpg

IMGP1443.jpg

and

IMGP1432.jpg

IMGP1431.jpg

and then we went to the passages of the deep and the pics didn't turn out very well but here they are

IMGP1447.jpg

IMGP1448.jpg

And we saw a penny pressing machine so we pressed some pennies
then we went to the gift shop, bought some souvies and we left.

We stopped by an area of shops? I forget the name of it but we took some pictures and shopped a bit.

IMGP1461.jpg

IMGP1462.jpg

After shopping we decided to check into the hotel.

(will cont later)

IASW at DL opens again on November 29 after a year long refurb. It will have the holiday overlay up when it opens.

Check out www.mouseplanet.com for the latest update info for DL. It's the site DH and I use the most for the Cali parks.

OMG HI LADY LALLIE!!

I've been waiting for you to return! It was getting lonely on this board without you! I hope your TR is up!

Please keep my DBF in your thoughts tonight and tomorrow as he is currently in Houson texas for work. The hotel that he's staying in is thankfully staying open as he would have no where to go. But has given him warning that they may be understaffed.

I don't pray often, but i will be tonight for his safety and everyone elses.

DBF texted me this morning to let me know that, there was no electricty, water or phone lines. He's fine but apparently water leaked in through the windows and soaked half the carpet in his room. Luckily his boss called him and arranged alternate accomadations in San Antonio for him. So after a three hour drive, he has food, water and electricty again! The hotels in the area are apparently pretty full.

I'm not sure what's going to happen now as the job site he was supposed to be working on had a bit of damage, both in houston. Nothing major but some water on the floor and ceiling tiles that need repairing. I'm thinking it would be wise to send him home now and then send him out again in 1-3 weeks when everything is back to normal.

I casually let dbf know about the 7 day cruise we are taking and his response was "well you better start saving up" :thumbsup2

Been spending lots of time reading trip reports for disneyland/disneyworld/disney cruise lines. I'm getting really stoked for all three of them. Of course the last two are awhile away but STILL! :woohoo:

I am so glad that your DBF is okay.

DH and I decided that we probably won't be going back to WDW in December of 2010. Is it too early to put a ticker counting down until then in my signature? ;) :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I was thinking that it would be so awesome to start a PTR before I make all the decisions for my next trip so I can have people help me decide and get opinions but I think two years for a PTR is a bit silly, even though I really want to do it! :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:
