An PTR about Waiting And other Dictionary Defined Terms Now w/PICS!

:woohoo: Lady Lallie! How lucky, i wish i could plan my trip more. I can't wait to hear your trip report when you get back.

I looked up prices of Candy Cane Inn on expedia and found it and now it's gone? :confused3 I checked the website and it's $102/night which is more than i want to pay :rolleyes1

Hojo's is 123/night but i'm waiting for the entertainment card to show up.
If not then i'll probably go with a hotel in the $50-60 range. The walk is longer but last time we stayed at the pavillions and apparently that was half a mile. but it felt like nothing.

I think the only vague thing i remember about walking a lot was, Getting really really pissed off at DBF for dragging me from best western pavillions all the way to past dessert inn and suites to get bad chinese food.
I think Candy Cane Inn was cheaper in February, I think we were paying like $450 for 5 nights but I am not positive. Anyhoo, we scratched that trip for now though I will get to Disneyland someday!
I am planning to take lots and lots of breaks and rests while we are at WDW so DH and I don't fight and bicker. :lmao:

Lol if you fit in my suitcase, i'll take you when I go in sept :thumbsup2 Breaks and Rests are good, DBF and me have a tendency to walk fast and we did disneyland commando last time (my goal was to ride EVERY ride) I almost accomplished that goal, this time we are going to take it slow.

Things to discuss with DBF:

1) Airfare, try to strike a deal whereas we will split the costs 50/50 for airfare IF he pays for the car rental himself. Considering that my ticket is $36.21 and his is $205.44 that's a deal! :yay:

2) Talk about universal and if he wants to go again.

3) Harass him for dates

4) Discuss sitting through a 90 min presentation for 2 day park hoppers and a night at a hotel.

5) Ask him if he bought me a present

What I will do differently this year at Disneyland:

1) DO NOT snack overload, if both hands are full I don't need more food!

2) Take pictures with Characters instead of admiring from afar

3) Take pictures PERIOD (I have about 40-50 pics total of disneyland/hotel)

4) Photopass pic with Tinkerbell

5) Ride the Matterhorn both sides

6) Watch the Parade + Fireworks + Fantasmic

7) Buy more souvies!

Right now i'm thinking that IF we rent a car, and my dad doens't fly out till later I could take him to disneyland with us (he hasn't been there since 1997) for a couple hours and we could do some rides. This means i'll need a single day ticket but i think my dad would enjoy that.

Hi there!

I'm really enjoying your PTR. I love the definitions.

How exciting that you are potentially going to DLR AND WDW! We live in Cali and DL is our favorite resort. Just a couple of things about DLR: The Best Western Park Place directly across the street is pretty nice as is the other one close by. I'll check the name with DH and let you know. I have access to really inexpensive park hoppers through my company. You don't have to specify your dates as long as you go before the end of 2008. Let me know if you are interested. And depending on when you go, Fantasmic might be dark. They are working on the effects for the show in September/October. Let me know if you have any other questions about DLR. We LOVE it there!!!

Oh BTW, Do, Ti, La, So, Fa, Mi, Re, Do. (I was a music major. :goodvibes )

Let me know if you want a spreadsheet that will help you calculate dining prices to determine if DxDP is a good option for your. I used it to figure out what we would be spending OOP for our plan and it helped us decide that DxDP was a better choice for us.

The kitties are darling and you are wonderful to volunteer with them.

And now I think I'm caught up. Keep writing!

Hi Shauna!! :wave2:
Thanks for reading! If you could let me know the name of the best western that be awesome. Thanks for the offer on the park hoppers also but I wouldn't want to trouble you at all. :thumbsup2

Yay for music majors :)
Me not so musical :rolleyes1

I remember my last lesson where my teacher was getting me to play a scale and sing do re mi as i played it. On the way down our conversation went like this:

Me: Mi, Do
Teacher: Wrong, try again
Me: *play different notes* Mi, Do
Teacher: No the notes were right
Me: *confused* Mi? Do?
Teacher: What comes after do?
Me: Mi?
Teacher: No....Do...RE...MI
Me: OH! Mi, Re, Do

If you could send me that spreadsheet that would be awesome! :worship: DBF is very organized, he logs all his expenses on a spreadsheet tabbed by months. To the extent where if i ask him for a dollar, he makes me write him a receipt so he can log it after. :headache:

The cats are wonderful, i'm more their slave than anything. Soprano knows if she wants food to come directly to find me and i will drop whatever i'm doing to feed her. To the extent that the other volunteers tell me that soprano has me wrapped around her little finger.

Olympic Games -
1. Also called Olympian Games. the greatest of the games or festivals of ancient Greece, held every four years in the plain of Olympia in Elis, in honor of Zeus.
2. a modern international sports competition, held once every four years.

Yay for the olympics! :cool1:

Here are some pictures that I took in April of Shanghai

These are from Hanzhou i was at some out door shopping thing i forget the name of it.

Yummy! it's basically fruit on a stick dipped in maltose candy and hardened so it forms a candy shell. It's delicious, the original kind is tomato but that's yuck to me. I love the grape ones the best!

These pictures were taken in a mall in shanghai! They were having a special thing with the mascots at 5 different game booth things.

Did you know that their names:
Beibei, Jingjing, Huanhuan, Yingying, Nini

You take away the double and you get
Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni
In mandarin, that means, Beijing Welcomes You

Have you ever had a day where you don't care what you drink and your response is either:

an·y·thing -
2. a thing of any kind

or

what·ev·er
1. anything that (usually used in relative clauses): Whatever you say is all right with me.
2. (used relatively to indicate a quantity of a specified or implied antecedent): Take whatever you like of these.

Well now you can! (in singapore)

Basically the cans have a randomn drink in it 6 types for each kind, the non-carbonated and the carbonated.

Carbonated options include:Cola, Cola with Lemon, Apple, Fizz Up, Cloudy Lemon and Root Beer.

Non-Carbonated Options include: iced tea: Ice Lemon Tea, Peach Tea, Jasmine Green Tea, White Grape Tea, Apple Tea and Chrysanthemum Tea.

I got apple tea and root beer. :thumbsup2

Since I was going to be in LA, and one of my friends moved there about a year ago I decided to msg her on msn to ask if we could meet up. The first thing I noticed was that she had an ULTRASOUND! for a display picture.

I confirmed with her and she and her husband are expecting their first child SOON! lol it took me 9 months to figure out she was pregnant.

Anyways I haven't talked to DBF yet but i'm DEFINATLY extending our trip to include a visit.

Things that have changed,
We have to rent a car now because she lives in LA not Anaheim like I had originally thought. I also want to make her a Diaper cake so I will need a car to take us to Target and Walmart to pick up the supplies.

My tentative plan is now like this:

Day 1:
Arrive at LAX
Pick up Rental Car (haven't booked yet)
Go to Walmart or Target or both and pick up supplies
Go visit my friend with something not sure what yet
Maybe have dinner with her depending how tired she is or buy take out and bring it to them?
Drive to a nearby hotel and spend the night putting together a diaper cake

Day 2:
Breakfast at hotel
Visit her and drop off diaper cake
Have lunch with her maybe do some activity if they are up to it
Drive to Disneyland
Check in
Depending what time we get there maybe the parks

Day 3:
Full day at disney

Day 4:
Full day at disney

Day 5:
Half day at disney
Drive back to LA
One last visit with friend drop off my disney goodies for the baby
I'm thinking mickey ears
Late flight back or
Check in for one last night and fly out in the morning

That's my TENTATIVE plan of course this all depends on whether or not she has the time, I'm trying to keep all my visit short cause I don't want to be a burden as her child will either be between 4-8 weeks old.

The disney for families board gave me some awesome idea's and steered me away from buying her a cake xD so i'll have to compile a list of everything soon.

So far for sure i'll be getting:
A diaper cake with all wipes etc i wont' be getting any bottles/pacifiers for her or anything the baby can be picky about.
A gift card to a local spa for a massage or one to red lobster (she loves the all you can eat shrimp)
And i got some great ideas from the boards about some baby books, and a baby cd (it's really cool, they basically take songs from coldplay and make it a soothing MIDI)

She never got a shower so I want to try to make this as special as I can, if anyone else has any idea's please feel free to post. I don't have any children so i'm not sure what else she needs

Don't forget - pampers for boys, huggies for girls!
Don't ask me why but for some strange reason, huggies leak on boys and pampers leak on girls. No idea why!
Have a great time with your friend!

Really? wow i never knew that! lol I'll have to wait till he/she is born first then! My friend knows but refuses to tell me :headache:
Hi alysa glad you stopped by!:thumbsup2

I talked to DBF and he has finally been able to give me some dates, rough dates depending on when we decide to go.

We essentially have 3 options:

1) End of August
2) End of Sept after the 24th (he has a wedding to attend on the 23rd)
3) First week of November

August:
Pro -
Get to go soon!
Get to see my friends baby (if he/she is born yet) as a newborn!
Less closures

Con-
DBF is worried it will be hot and crowded
Have to pay for DBF's airfare

Sept:
Pro -
Our original plan
Get to see friends baby!

Con-
DBF is worried it will be hot
Have to pay for DBF's aifare

Nov:
Pro -
DBF will be an hour from disney at work so we will not have to pay for his airfare, we save $205
He will already have a rental car from work, we will just add extra days to it
The weather would be cooler and more manageable
It's farther away so i could save up more money

Con -
It's far away!
My friends baby would be almost 2 months old, leaving much to be desired for my surprise kinda baby shower. (though i could SHIP her stuff i feel as if it's not the same)

Even looking at it right now anyone can tell that November is the best plan, i'm just being a bum cause i really want to see my friends baby sooner. DBF is right though, we would save more money and the weather would be better. I'm just bummed cause it'll be so far away.

My vote is November. But then I can't take the heat. I got heat stroke in September - it was awful. I can't even imagine August. Plus it will give your friend extra time to get used to a baby so she can spend more time with you! And anytime friends show up with baby gifts is always a good time. It's only two months away and you can enjoy the anticipation. ;)

Hi alysa!
Thanks for the input, omg i'm so sorry about the heat stroke! I can't take heat well either, I melt. The more I think about it the more I KNOW that november is a much better time to go. True with the baby too, if i wait at least she'll know what she definatly needs and the baby will be older and hopefully sleeping more. I can always ship her a present for now until later.

I guess the main thing is that if i agree to november, DBF BETTER give me EXACT dates, so that maybe we can start booking things :thumbsup2 I'm also thinking that i can FINALLy get to ride HM with the halloween feel to it!

September in Southern California is fabulous! It is not terribly hot at all and there is no rain (or hardly any yet.) November is the rainy season and you are likely to run into showers. It's also a bit more chilly.

Honestly, given those choices, September would win hands down. Late September/early October is my FAVORITE time to visit DL.

BTW, the name of the other hotel is Best Western Stovall's Inn. It is on the corner opposite of Paradise Pier so is not a bad walk at all. We got it for $95 a night in early October and the room was nice. I would definitely stay there again.

If you PM me your email addy, I'll send you that spreadsheet.

Thanks for the insight! It would be late september/early october that we would be going. I'll bring that up to DBF when he comes back and we can talk about it!

We stayed at the best western pavillions last time and it was a doable walk, at stovalls it should be even closer and we'll be able to eat at Coco's like we did almost everyday last time. I'll look into pricing for this hotel as well.

I'm more excited for you cause you only have 2 more weeks left!! :cool1: I can't wait to read your trip report!
I can't wait to write it! I am seriously excited. I don't know how I am going to make it through the next few days.
