Amy's New Start : Comments Welcome!

WAY TO GO sticking with the workout!:woohoo::cheer2::cool1: I know it's hard, but you will be surprised at how quickly you will gain endurance, as long as you stay consistent with it. I have been doing it 3x a week, solely out of fear of losing that endurance. I know you will soon be able to do more things without modifications. And as long as you are sweating, you are working hard, so don't listen to what Jillian says. ;)

Thanks so much ladies.

I was down 2 pounds today and I was very happy! I made my goal of five pounds in a month and in fact am down 6.2 pounds total since January 8th.

I am really going to have to work hard today to stay on program. We have a birthday party tonight and my friend is getting an Oreo fudge ice cream cake. Omg, that's only my favorite dessert in the world! I also have a really packed day, lunch out with a friend, getting ds off to church camp and I want to walk for 30 minutes at the gym and do Shred later today. I have my day scheduled out and I need to stick to it to get it all done!

I am going to have to come back on later to get to journals but I was so excited about my loss, I had to come on and update my own journal!:cool1:

Amy: I think I need to follow your lead and do Shred three days a week. I am not sure two days will have me getting up to the level I need.

Tracy: I am glad I am not the only modifier on the Shred Program! I know we'll get there and be doing it just like the gals on the DVD if we just stick to it! And yes, I LOVE that Full House episode, we had to go to Coral Reef our first visit because of it!

Barb: I so appreicate the encouragement. My mental attitude is getting an even bigger overhaul than my phsycial self and when I hear you congratulate me, it means a lot because hey, you're a professional!

Lisa: Thanks so much, I want to rub that lamp and be a princess too! At WDW and at home.;)

Denise: I am going to try to find that product. My new suit says chlorine resistant but I don't want to take chances. I had to buy a bathing suit in DTD once too and it was not pretty financially!

Deb: So glad to see you, I am glad you are on the mend! You are right, I need to focus on today and not 8 years ago. And this week I lost 8 sticks of butter!

CONGRATS on the 2 lbs gone!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I'm so glad you got your star, I knew you could do it!

Don't let that cake get the best of you. It's just a cake and so not worth ruining your momentum over. Sometimes a couple bites is all you really need to enjoy it and move on. :thumbsup2

You are doing GREAT! :woohoo:

Amy, I didn't get my star!

They have my starting weight as what I was back in the early fall, before I gained almost six and half pounds over our Disneyland trip, Thanksgiving and December. So I have to lose that (only .2 to do that) and then lose five pounds more to get my first star. She tried to manually change my weight to what I weighed on January 8th, but the computer wouldn't let her.

So I have to actually lose 11.6 pounds from that to get a star. Which seems dumb but I was bummed! Oh well, I know what I have lost in the past four weeks and its all good. :goodvibes

Yikes, I can see why you were bummed! Oh well, as you said you know how well you are doing. Computers are a pain in the butt.

Barb, I agree about the computers!

I just did Shred. Omg, that last set up of abs is killer. It was a bit easier, stil had to modify the jumping jacks and all the other cardio (except punches). I also did get my 30 minute walk in at the rec center.

Now off to the birthday party where hopefully they will run out of cake before I get there!

Food thus far has been perfect, I didn't go to lunch after all, my friend had a dr's. appt. and in some ways it was good. Less opportunity for temptation and more time to mindelessly disboard this afternoon!

Sorry to hear about the computer at WW. :( That's a bummer that she couldn't make the adjustment to January's weight for you.

Great job getting that Shred workout in!:cheer2: Keep up the good work!!!! :cheer2:

Have a great time at the party!:goodvibes

Amy, make yourself a big-a** star and hang it for everyone to see! I give myself stars and smiles all the time. My datebook is full of stickers!

Amy, make yourself a big-a** star and hang it for everyone to see!!

Love it!!! I agree, you deserve that star. And I know you will get the "real" one soon too. ;)

Great job doing the Shred again! I bet you will be doing it without modification in no time if you keep it up. Are you sweating like crazy when you are done? If so, you are making progress in my book! :goodvibes

I hope you were able to avoid temptation at the party, and if you did enjoy the cake, don't dwell on it - count the points and move on. :)

Thanks Ladies.

The cake was fine. I had about four bites. It was the chips and dip that killed me! She had made grilled pork chops, salad, veggies, and rice for dinner. I took my own ice tea and thought "wow, I got through this one". But then when the Nuggets came on at 8:30 she brought out chips and dip.:scared: I was actually still hungry and of course dips and chips are a big red flag food for me so I stood there at the kitchen island with everyone else and ate way too much. WTH? 8:30 at night, I've had dinner, I've gotten through the day and then I blow it? Oh well. I also had a Coors Light and a half. I guess I could have done worse. So close but no cigar!

Today's plan is to relax, take dd and her friend to a movie and hopefully dh and I can see one too if the times coordinate. Then we are going out for pizza tonight. Dan got a free pizza coupon from Old Chicago for his birthday and we are meeting friends. I am not too worried about that one. I plan to just look up the points for two pieces, order a diet coke and be okay with that. And hopefully nobody will show up at 8:30 with chips, queso, sour cream/green chili dip and cheeto's!

Denise: I like that idea! I think I'll put a big Mickey sticker in my date book for this week!

Tracy: I love how WW has gone totally computeriized. Makes weigh in's so easy. But the downside is they can't over ride anything. Oh well, its not the first time a computer has annoyed me and it won't be the last!

Amy: I do sweat but not like I wish I did. I think if I could really do those jumping jacks I'd sweat more. They say sweating is a sign of being in shape and hard work. So clearly I am not quite where I need to be but I'll get there. Crazy knees!

Forgot to add I did work out five days in a row this week! So happy about that. Today I plan to take the day off from that but then work out tomorrow. I have to weigh two days early this week. I have an appt. next Friday plus Dan's birthday is Thursday and we are having dinner out and I don't want to be stressing about points that night. So I have to make the next four days count.

Ds left for camp up the mountains last night. I was a bit unhappy, they had them in older school busses. I don't like him being in some school bus with faulty heat, no seat belts and a major winter storm is happening up there. I'll be sort of relieved when he gets home. But I know he's having a great time and that's what counts. I just wish they had them in a motor coach like I was told they would.

Amy, make yourself a big-a** star and hang it for everyone to see!

I agree!!!!!:thumbsup2 That star is YOURS!!!!!

Great job on the workouts this week!

Sounds like you have a nice evening ahead. :goodvibes Good job planning your food out at the pizza place. I didn't do that when we went to Cici's yesterday and ended up eating too many points.

Sending good thoughts and prayers for your DS's trip......

Have a nice Saturday!

I know what you mean about chips and dip. I am like that with chips and guacamole...I swear I could stand there eating it till I burst. But at least it was just a circumstantial thing. It's trickier learning to handle things like that than everyday life.

Good plan on the pizza!

Tough day with a lot of temptation!

I slept through breakfast then we headed to an early movie. Saw the Lovely Old Bones which was really good. I had suggested dd and her friend see Tooth Fairy but I guess those days are over so I said fine to this movie and Dan and I decided to see that too. Well I knew I needed to take some of my own food so I took a ham sandwich on my Orowheat Sandwich thin bread, some almonds and a mini luna bar. I did have some popcorn, more than I wanted but way less than I could have.

Dinner was 1/2 piece of ham pizza and a caeser salad. I decided I needed some veggies since I hadn't had any.

I think I came in about 5 points over. I had quite the shock, I got on Old Chicago's site after I ate the pizza and one piece of their medium, Chicago style pizza has 493 calories and 25 grams of fat. Comes in at 11 points per slice for their Hawaiin style pizza (we skipped the pineapple but I figure that adds very little in the way of calories so I didn't worry about trying to figure it without the pineapple). Omg, I used to sometiems eat 3 or even 4 pieces of that pizza. Scary.

Good news is that I drank quite a bit of water today and plan to drink a bunch more tonight to flush out the popcorn sal;t. Oh yeah, a slice of that pizza has 787 mg. of sodium. Thank goodness I only ate a half a piece.

I really struggle at the movie and at a pizza place. So having to deal with both in one day was not easy.

And last but not least, I have eight boxes of Girl Scout cookies in my house. I ordered more but had those sent to the soldiers overseas. I decided to keep some, the kids love them and why should they have to miss out on something they like because I can't stay out of them? So I am going to try to be strong. My kids will eat one or two a day until they are gone which will be a long ways from now. So this is going to be a long term challenge but I am determined to do it!

Just a quickie, I got back on that Old C's nutritional info on their site, a kids sized spaghetti and meatballs has 590 calories with 49 (not a typo I promise) grams of fat. It comes with a kids sized garlic toast that adds another 171 calories and 9 grams of fat. That is insane. Dd has ordered that before. Frankly, to me that is disgusting.

The adult sized spaghetti and meatballs has (get ready) 1383 calories and 152 grams of fat. Omg, no wonder we are a fat nation. Eat out one or two nights per week and this is what happens.

We may not be eating there much anymore, there is very little on that entire menu that is not loaded with fat.

Very eye opening, the kids meal in particular just blew me away.

WOW, that is really bad nutritional news!!! I'm glad the major chains have started putting that info out there. It really is an eye-opener. But the sad thing is that there are SO many people who just don't get it... :confused3

I think you'd be better off finding some new places to visit, where there are healthier options. That way you can still go out, but not worry about the junk everyone is ingesting!

CONGRATS on the 5x workouts!!! :cool1: If you are not dripping with sweat after Shred, you might try to push yourself a little harder. I bet you can do more than you think, you just have to try. ::yes:: I do everything with no modification and I am literally pouring sweat out by the end. Challenge yourself with one new thing everytime you try it! I bet you'll surprise yourself at how much you really can do. :goodvibes

It's amazing how many calories there are in restaurant food! I was looking at Dottie's site for Red Lobster choices the other day and some of the dishes (my favorites, or course!) had tons of calories and grams of fat.

Great job getting your 5 workouts in!!!:cheer2: What's the plan for this week?

I hope you have a great Sunday!

OMG those calorie counts are downright shocking! We were planning to order pizza as a Super Bowl treat but I might change that plan.

Sodium in food is so overdone too. I hate that miserable bloat.
