Amy's New Start : Comments Welcome!

Glad you kicked that wanna be cold to the curb! ;)

How was Dan's b-day celebration? My dad's b-day is tomorrow.

I think your plan for lifting weights is a good one. And I like how you incorporated more exercise into a routine Target trip! You really are dedicated! :thumbsup2

I hope you have a great weekend! :wizard:

Happy birthday to Dan!:bday: Sounds like y'all went to the same place we went to last night. Texas Road House? The peanuts and rolls are what made me think it was the same place.

Amy, if you want anyone to go with you to creep-o's bar, I'll be right there with you. I see RED whenever I hear of something like that. What is the problem with these people!?!!

Sounds like you have had a good week and I am so glad you were able to fight off the cold. and from the sounds of your workouts, you are really moving up. :thumbsup2

Have a great day and stay warm!:goodvibes

hi amy, sounds like the trainer gave some great advice :) do you wear a knee brace? i had knee probs & it helped!
I'm watching BL think its 7 - the one with ron & his son mike - plz dont tell me who wins though!!!
terrible about the facebook stuff, but good the your DD had the sense to tell you & get rid of the weirdo!!

Hi ladies, I am sorry I haven't been here in a few days. We have had computer issues again, it was completely gone, our phone as well and Comcast is set to come out on Tuesday, poor Dan had to go to a restaurant tonight to work and just for the heck of it I thought I'd try the phone and computer one more time before I went to bed and oila, it worked. I am so sick of comcast I could scream! So no idea what is going on.

To recap quickly, the last three days with food have not been at all good. I haven't worked out since Thursday and tomorrow is the day for me to get back on track.

I just sort of fell off on Friday and now my knees are okay but I have some sort of issue with my ankle. I am just flabbergasted and so down about that. It may have been from me walking weird with my knee, it started to hurt Thrusday night and I can't help but wonder if my extremely hard workout on Thursday caused it. No idea. Tomorrow's plan is to go to the rec center and either water walk or use the bike and see how that goes.

This has been a slip up but its done and I just have to move on. I am just bummed that either my age or my weight or both is having me get issues with my joints that I shouldn't be having!

I will try to catch up tomorrow, I am just so dead tired but did want to come on real quck while I have internet!

sorry about the computer issues Amy - hope it gets sorted.
hope you make the rec centre & your knees/ankle is ok.

I hope the computer issue gets fixed for you soon!:wizard:

I hear you on the weekend. I stopped counting points on Thursday.

I hope your knees and ankle are feeling better soon. :wizard:

Have a great Monday!

I can't do pull-ups either! They're hard!

that's freaky about creepy guy...glad you reported him -- agree, teach her online safety...the internet is going ot be a part of her life for a long time- so it's better to not close your eyes to it, but teach your kids how to adapt and use common sense

sorry to hear you've been having a rough couple of days

try non-impact stuff for a few days, give your knees/ankle a rest

I agree with solar, try some more water exercises or bike or something until your ankle gets better. You are taking glucosamine, right? Since I can't take that (stupid shellfish allergy!) I've been taking Knox Gelatine and that has really helped my knees! You might want to give that a try. Not sure if you can use it in addition to the glucosamine, but I think since they are 2 different things, it should be OK. You might want to ask your Dr or someone at the health food store if you are interested in trying it.

So you had a bad weekend, SO WHAT?? I know you will get back on track. Don't get discouraged! You are always so motivating to the rest of us, direct some of that towards yourself and you'll be fine. :goodvibes

Ugh, the ankle problem must be so frustrating (not to mention the frustration of the computer problems). Just take it easy and modify your routine until you get that sorted out. It sounds like it might indeed have been irritated by walking a certain way because of your knee.

Thanks ladies. My ankle is much better today, this is the ankle I broke about 20 years ago and in spite of the time that has passed, that ankle will still give me problems now and again. I rested it and its almost completely back to normal.

I didn't go to the gym and I am just mad at myself and at dh who is not helping matters with the amount of crap he has brought into this house. Of course, I am the only one who is responsible for eating that crap. But nonetheless I just really let him have it about not bringing stuff into the house. I am not at the point yet, not even close to being able to just say "fine, its here but I won't eat it". I hate to berate him but in the end, I need support, because I can mess up all by myself.

So TOMORROW is my fresh start day. I have drank a lot of water today and I did well until tonight when a late dinner and lack of will power just derailed me.

Tomorow is aquasize and walking. I will aquasize for sure, if walking is a bother, I'll switch gears and do the bike.

The kids are off tomorrow too, (and part of my problem today was running them both to do stuff with friends etc.) and then back to school on Wednesday. I leave for WDW five weeks from Friday and hope to have lost at least ten pounds by then. But with two weeks now basically lost, that may be hard. I think what really got me off was knowing all last week I wouldn't be weighing in on Friday. I think that set me up to feel like I had a bit of a free week that has trickled into this week. Lesson learned is to weigh in each week even if it means weighing a few days early. Because in essence the thing that keeps me going back to WW is the accountablity of weighing on their scale. It definitely started with Dan's birthday where I did well (did eat one roll and some peanuts but stuck to what I had planned to order and didn't finish all my meal). Its funny how one little ripple can just mess up things!

This is what I have fallen prey to in the last four days:

Eating out for dh's birthday
birthday cake
girl scout cookies
fudge brownie pie
chips
pizza
cinnamon bread with cream cheese frosting (this was what dh brought home and was my final straw)
sore ankle

I just cannot handle that many temptations! Not this early in my game. Then friend called and invited us over this week to watch the Olympics. I told dh he can do what he wants but I don't need anymore temptation for at least a week. Getting together with friends generally entails food, beer and out of routine and I just don't need that right now. I need to hunker down and get my game back on!

The computer stayed on, Dan was able to call Comcast and cancel the appointment which is great because I would have had to skip aquasize to be here. And they were going to charge us which would be laughable if it wasn't so ridiculous!

I know tomorrow will be better.

Lisa: We did go to Texas Roadhouse! Which is out of Indiana lol. That was a favorite place of my mom's in fact the last time she ate out was there, she took me there for my birthday in December of 2007 and I really hadn't been there since. But we had fun and it was good to be back. In spite of the rolls and peanuts!

Tracy, I stopped counting points too but its time to get back on track!

Tracey: Thanks for stopping by, the ankle is better

Deb: I have had a couple of rough days, honestly, I just don't know what happened exactly but all I can do is move on!

Amy: I'll have to check into the Knox thing. I remember my mom doing that to strengthen her nails when I was a kid. You are right, I had a bad weekend but its not the end of the world. Thanks for putting it into perspective for me.

Barb: Good to see you, I think the knee and ankle were related, I guess its all connected!

Hi Amy, that tomorrow goes better for you. We have the same computer and cable issues as you seem to have only ours is with Charter. and yes, they want to charge us now to come out. :sad2:

I'm glad your ankle is better. Maybe you were just putting extra pressure on it with your knee issue. Don't you just hate when old injurys flare up?

Now, the weekend is over and you have just one more day until everyone is back to their schedules and you can get back to yours. I do hope you are able to get to the rec center tomorrow. You'll feel better when you have done some walking or something. :goodvibes

I'm glad that your ankle is feeling better, Amy. :goodvibes Isn't it funny how those old injuries act up from time to time? When I was a freshman in high school, I was doing a flip on the balance beam and slipped and fell. I busted my shin up something awful. :( Every now and again, my shin hurts especially when it's cold outside.

Today is my fresh start day too!:thumbsup2 I just couldn't get it together yesterday. We CAN do this, Amy!!!:cheer2:

Your WDW trip is coming up soon! I bet everyone is getting excited! :cool1:

I hope you have a nice day!

I'm sure you got to aquasize OK and are back on track today! ;)

I checked and Knox actually makes a NutraJoint that also contains glucosamine, so obviously they are OK to be used together!

I don't blame you for skipping the Olympics, sometimes you just need to do what you know is right. I've been mad at DH for bringing crap into the house too! Make him take it to work or keep it in his car or something! :)

I like your idea about weighing in no matter what. I think you are right, you do better when that is looming. You've put a lot of thought into why you had these bad days, and I think that is huge. Now you are prepared to better avoid those pitfalls in the future! It's a looooooong journey, this is just a small blip on the radar. :thumbsup2

totally understand the ankle thing...i can't kneel to this day - accident/kneecap 15 years ago

sorry about DH bringing stuff in...mine does too, but i realized he's not on a diet...and control is my problem...was hard to overcome, but i've learned to compromise...he picks up snacks he knows aren't trigger foods for me...flavors of things not my favorite, etc...(ex - i love doritos, but cool ranch, eh, not so much...i love choc. ice cream, not strawberry - he gets treats, just in flavors i won't eat, tapioca pudding -gross, choc. pudding - yum...that's our deal, he can have his stuff in flavors that i won't cheat with)

yeah, Disney in 5 weeks for you! my trip is coming up soon, and I am READY, tired of this cold weather

Thanks so much ladies. I got to the rec center this moring, I was so tired, we stayed up late to watch the ice skating and then I got woken up about 3:00 by my neighbor's dog barking non stop for about 20 minutes. But I said no way am I skipping so I made it happen! My ankle didn't bother me a bit, I am so glad it seems fine. I do think walking funny on that one leg is what caused my ankle to flare up. Its happened before. I broke that foot in a couple of places and ripped all the ligaments too so its never going to be 100%. The extra weight does not help!

Food has also been good today and I have almost gotten my 100 oz of water in with time to spare. I am also making a healthy soutwestern chicken salad for dinner tonight.

Dan was up about 1.5 pounds on Wii today, he is trying to lose 10 pounds which will put him at the absolute bottom of his idea weight (doctor wants him to due to his elevated liver function). So he was bummed. I told him that is why we can only have so much junk in the house at once! This is all new to him, he's never had to watch his weight but since he needs to be truly thin and not just normal, he is realizing its hard work to lose weight!

Amy: I am going to look into that Knox product. I figure two guns always work better than one!

Lisa: I was just floored that Comcast wanted to charge us! I mean they have horrible service and I have to pay for them to fix the problem I have reported numerous times for 8 years? And they wonder why I switched to Direct TV!

Tracy: Fresh Start day here too! That's the great thing about life, you can have a fresh start day every day you need one.:goodvibes

Deb: I do need to work on my control. I just couldn't understand the cinnamon bread with the cream cheese frosting when we had pie, cake and cookies in the house! I have learned to control myself with the kids lunch treats but stuff that comes out of the oven warm and dripping with fat and frosting, is never going to be a "I can just say no" food! I think he got the hint.;)

Amy,I am so glad your ankle is better. I'll bet the water helped a lot also. Poor Dan! Perhaps this is something you all can work on together. :goodvibes At least support each other.

Ah yes, warm baked stuff right out of the oven. and then I bring it to work and place it in the downstairs break area......where I can forget about it.

I hope you have a great day today. :flower3:

I'm glad your ankle is feeling better and you got a good workout in! And that you are back on track with food, too! :thumbsup2 I think it's great that Dan had that eye-opening experience for his weight. Maybe now he will get it! :goodvibes

I would have also gone off the deep end with the cinnamon bread. I am a sucker for baked goods! I bought a 7lb box of Ghirardelli brownie mix from Costco a couple weeks ago and still haven't made a single batch. I'm too scared! :scared: I can avoid chocolate cake like the plague, but I loves me some brownies!

You are doing great, keep it up! :cheer2:

Thanks ladies!

I have done great with food today. I have had a migraine all day. I know, I am falling apart, I guess I am old! Actually, I have been keeping track of my migraines per doctor's advice and I notice they come about every four weeks or so. For years I got them alongside my TOM and now that I am I think (I hope lol) done with that, I am still getting the migraines. I guess that is the lone holdhout with my hormones. :confused3 I am pretty sure its been since about July that I had an honest to goodness period, but apparently the migraines aren't going away too! So I didn't go to the gym, but I did do WATP which is a great alternative for those days when I don't feel like an out of the house workout.

The headache is better. Right now Dan is on his way home and bringing him and me Tokyo Joes since we have a free bowl (love their frequent purchase card) and its healhty!

I am a bit nervous, I let ds take a ride with an older friend to a meeting tonight. This is only the second time I have let him ride with a teen. I have met the boy and he's very nice and very responsible but I am still a bit nervous. But dd has church and Dan says he thinks its fine. But moms worry. Life was simpler when my kids were littler in so many ways!

The meeting is for a Search and Rescue group through the Fire Department. Ds was referred to this by one of the Sheriffs he knows through that program and said the Marines love that sort of thing so of course, that was all ds needed to hear! They do have a strict g.p.a. thing so that will keep him hitting those books!

And speaking of that, when one of his teachers found out ds wants to go into the Marines right away after high school, he told him not to worry about taking a foreign language or going above geometry. I mean wth? Kids have been known to change their minds and I would think a teacher would tell him to work hard and take classes that give him plenty of options. Besides, ds has said all along he will do Marines for four years then go to college. Just what I need somebody to demotivate my kid who will gladly slack off in school any chance he gets!

Amy: I have bought that same brownie mix many times. Its nice to have on hand since I frequently learn last minute from my kids they need to bring something to an event, but I am telling you, I always know its there! Waiting for me to mix up and eat baked or not baked! Dan gets the weight thing to a point since his dad had a weight problem his whole life and I was 175 pounds the day he met me and about that when we got married. But what was good about his stepping on the scale is that for the first time in 42 years, he understood what its like to be on a "diet" and have your behavior bite you in the butt! I had to laugh. :rotfl:

Tracy: Dare I read your journal and see if you got more snow you poor thing!

Lisa: I need a break area to place any baked goods that make their way into my house!
