AmEx Gift Cards for BCV room charges?

Ok, normally I get the Amex gift cheques and towards the end of my stay will go down and pay off all my room charges so I don't have a CC bill to deal with when I get home. Im thinking of using the prepaid Amex gift cards (the gold ones, not the blue travel) instead. Has anyone used these gift cards to pay off things charged back to the room? You "supposedly" are not able to use them to pay for hotels or at gas stations etc. I admit, I have used them for gas without a problem, and I did call the front desk at the BCV to ask a CM and they said it was fine. But I wanted to see if any Disers had actually used them with or without a problem???

I wouldn't see why you wouldn't be able to use them to pay for your hotel charges. I have used them plenty of times, to pay for my room upfront and settle charges at the end of my stay.

Thanks disneybride. I would just want to use it to settle the room charges from shopping and food etc. before I go. I don't see why I would be able to pay for those things at point of service with the gift card but not if they are put on the "hotel" bill and paid for at once as Amex is trying to tell me. Anyone else???
