Sorry, I've been off and it took so long to answer this. Back to the televangelist.....
Okay, keep in mind I grew up in a small town where everyone knows everyone else and we're all very protective of one another. Big Man on Campus/BMOC dated Cute Cheerleader/CC all through high school, and they told everyone they were getting married after high school.....for YEARS. One of THOSE couples. He was an arrogant thing, but she was really sweet. Their senior year, he got an athletic scholarship to a university just about the time she got pregnant.
There was zero doubt it was his, but he denied it and dumped her cold. Seems the university coach made it clear that a new wife was not part of him getting a scholarship. She felt humiliated in front of our whole town, not to mention being heartbroken, but the town stood behind her. Bear in mind, this was back when being pregnant and unmarried made you an outcast and basically ruined your life. At some point that summer, some of his classmates beat the compound hell out of him for treating her so crappy. Yes....it took quite a few because he was a big old boy. No charges we filed.
After graduation, as CC got further along in the pregnancy and his fall semester at college started, BMOC would bring home gorgeous girls from his university and aways make sure he sat right in front of her at church. Everyone's eyes bugged out at how cruel that was. She held her head high, but I don't know how she did it without breaking down. When the kid was born, it looked just like him.
He never paid a cent in child support, even when he was making a ton of money as a pro athlete. He did other mean stuff to her, but you get the idea. Not too long after that, a really nice guy in town married her and I think they are still married to this day. He raised the child as his own. I really have no idea if that kid (now an adult) as any idea as to who his bio father is.
So the whole town holds him in contempt for dumping her, treating her like a skank who slept around and had no idea as to who fathered the child, and abandoning the baby without ever taking responsibility....Not to mention rubbing her nose in it by flaunting all those girls in front of her at church.
A preacher, my hiney. The latest is that he beats the devil out of his wife, but makes sure to leave no bruises that will show on TV. He's a keeper, isn't he? So you can see why I cringe when I see him on TV. So much sleeze, fooling so many people. I shudder to think what he's doing "ministering" at those women's prisons.

I've refused to vote since that season! Why waste my time when I doubt my vote counts anyway?

And I cringe at the thought of Lil imitating Whitney's really bad dance moves.
