I agree. I think the producers are smart and are following the market. They know who has the buzz and who the public is following. Remember last year when they were all over David A until David Cook did HELLO? After Billy Jean they had to dog out Michael and get him out of there to push David Cook over the top. Notice how they're now DOWNplaying Kris? This is more of the same.

They're keeping on Lil just like they kept Syesha, for the mix. There is NO WAY they get the kind of votes that keep them there, NO WAY.

Dialidol consistently has Lil way up there, though.

Once DC starting blowing up TPTB quickly did a switch-a-roo so they didn't have another Daughtry situation on their hands.

I can see why Idol would keep her there. She's a black female who will most likely go up against 2 white males in the final three (hmm, like last year.) She fits a demographic and style of music they don't see the other 2 reaching. I think that's why Syesha made it to the final 3. Idol wanted to have a contestant in the final for everyone, the rocker, the pop teen, and the R&B diva. (Why do I feel like I'm writing the ending of the Breakfast Club?)

Now I can't explain how she's getting large amount of votes. Unless Idol has something to do with fixing it.

It's still there! I listen to a ton of different bands who have really great music, none of which is about sex. And look at "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz (or really anything by him), We Belong Together by Gavin DeGraw (another one of my favorites), Dancing by Elisa... there's still a ton of really pretty, romantic music out there. It's just from the more singer/songwriter artists rather than the rappers, and a lot of it's not on Top 40.

Yep, I've hosted umpteen DIS meets here in Atlanta, we could've had a ball!

Then I had to sit there listening to them call me "SHAWTY" for a half hour... UGH...

For some reason that line had me rolling on the floor laughing. I'm still laughing I guess it's partly because I'm tall (almost 5'11"), and the thought of any guy calling SHAWTY in any context is hilarious. That sounds like a very cool job, BTW, do you still work at the radio?

I'm blessed that my son doesn't listen to that crap, but he has to be versed in it to appear "hip"... he is another me, I grew up listening to the Carpenters trying NOT to let anyone in my age group know!

That's really interesting as my son went the opposite way. He grew up listening to all the good rock classics, MJ, classical music, musicals (we'd dance to Cats all the time), but it all changed when he became a teen. He is mixed-race in a primarily white city. His father is from the Caribbean but walked out on us before he was born - not ready for the "responsibility". I think as a teen he was trying to connect with, what he thought was, black culture and music. He started listening to all this Gansta rap - which really has some terribly violent and misogynist lyrics. His favorite music is still rap. There are some rap songs I really like but not the hard-core stuff.

I don't get what the point of it is though. Isn't the show supposed to be about the voters? It never actually has been (the Producers know who they want to win and how to make it happen) but now it's blatantly obvious! If someone ends up as the bottom vote-getter, than people obviously didn't vote so why would the judges want them to stick around anyway? I don't know a single person (both in person and online) who likes Lil so why would they even keep her around? She's horrible! That made me mad last night

I think the only person they may use the vote save on is Allison - and she would deserve it. There is no doubt that Simon manipulates the results as much as he can. It seems the majority of the voters are "simon-bots" and vote for whoever he said was the best that night. You see it on Dial Idol all the time. I also agree with previous posters, that Danny is not getting the attention he used to get from the show. The coin has probably dropped, and AI realize they'll have another Taylor Hicks situation if he wins. I do think Adam has the potential to be a star - in both acting and music. He says he's a big fan of Britney and I can see him doing those kind of theatrical shows.

I think after 8 seasons the word would have gotten out and there's no way that Taylor Hicks would have won if they were fixin' votes. I totally agree that there is a ton of manipulation going on but I don't think they actually fix the results.

Right now on the AI Boards Adam has 70,000 posts, Lil has about 1400. She has less than Michael Sarver and Jorge!! Maybe her fans don't have anything to say about her? I dunno. Sounds fishy to me.

There are only 2 more weeks they can use the save. I think we can all agree that Danny and Adam are highly unlikely to be in a position to need it before then. Anoop won't get it. certainly not next week. MAYBE the last week just for the drama of using it. The same probably applies to Kris, but he has more of a chance. They would save Allison either week if she needs it. They would probably save Lil. Don't know why, but they would. I'm starting to think the save will be used.
