eh - Adam was shouting his song. I particularly hated the ending. But - hey, not every singer appeals to everyone.

My favorites are Danny and Kris.

I hated all tbe songs tonight, just way before my time. Not a fan of the Rat Pack.
That being said Adam did the best (of course)
Danny really turned it back on again.
Allison was quite good.
Kris was just ok.
Matt stunk the place up.

I threw a ton of votes to Allison, I wan't to see her in rock week so badly.
I hope matt and his hat go home, please oh please. I would rather have Lil back then have him on there for another week.

Didn't get to see the whole thing, but yeah....Matt has got to go.

agnes!

I thought tonight was probably the most boring night yet. I hate the standards so every song bored me more and more. I knew Adam would sing "Feeling Good" though, I love the Muse version! I like their version better than Adam's, but he was good! I thought Danny was once again hideous. I just don't get him anymore and I loved him in the beginning. My order tonight would probably be... Adam, Allison, Kris, Danny, Matt, although again, they all bored me. Rock week should be a lot better next week!

So after watching the show properly on TV (West Coast time), I find myself agreeing with you once again troobabiee. I'm not feeling very well and am completely exhausted, so I was definitely nodding off by the time Danny finished. However, Adam's performance is so exhilarating that I was left feeling energized and with a huge smile on my face. I'm not saying the others aren't good singers because I think Alison is quite amazing - but to tune in just to watch them? No way. The only memorable performance is Adam. :lovestruc :lovestruc

My favorite has been Kris right from the start. Adam is good, but I think he tends to get a little shreeky (sp?) and I can't stand that tongue popping out when he hits his high notes. My problem is that Adam is constantly being pimped - snags the last performance most of the time (top spot), has the best lighting, entrances...it's like they are pulling out all the stops for him. Kris is just as good..even better in my opinion..he's a true musician, not just a performer. I hate it when they obviously favor one over the other and "enhance" the performance for the chosen one. I hope Kris makes the finals...it would be a shame if he didn't.

Couple of rebuttals:
1. You comment on Adam's tongue but just as many people can't stand the sideways mouth and dopey look Kris has when he sings. When a performer is really concentrating they're not always aware of what their face is doing. Classical performers are often very guilty of this.
2. If you're going to complain about pimping, then you should be outraged at the obvious bias in the judging. Can anyone make sense of Simon's tongue bath of Matt and Danny while he proceeds to throw Alison and Kris under the train?
3. For about the third time - the performers decide what they're going to wear, what lighting they want and what kind of stage set up. It's not Adam's fault that the other contestants are rank amateurs in this department.
BTW, I'd much rather see Kris in the finals than Chokey.

With all due respect I think you need to go online and watch the performace again. 99% is in the low register and the last long note is NOT shouting. It's an incredibly held note that has a breath control I've rarely seen outside of an opera performance. A non-musician has no idea how difficult what he's doing is technically. It's almost unreal. When he gives the camera that sexy look and sings "I'm feeling good" just as the spot comes on him it's brilliant, incredible.

However, if what Danny does week in and week out isn't shouting, then I don't know what is   People attending the concert, say his shouting is so loud you can't hear the backup singers. Not only does he shout, but I always feel like stopping him and telling him to clear his throat. I think his singing might work very well in the gospel/Baptist Church type situation.

I guess it's clear we all have different tastes - and I can't stand the sound quality of Danny's voice. On the other hand, I could listen to Adam all day. :cloud9: :lovestruc

Well, I say Adam screeches to the detriment of his performance and I'm able to see his kidneys when he throws his tongue out ala Gene Simmons. His "come hither" look at the end just makes me laugh because it's soooooooo affected. I'm just amazed that he didn't lift up the edge of his shirt as well and throw in an Elvis lip curl for good measure. :rotfl2: He's like a dessert that doesn't know when to stop. Cake with buttercream frosting and ice cream on top, plus fudge sauce and whipped cream and caramel, nuts, cherries and sprinkles and chocolate chips and hunks of Reese's and Snickers and Mars Bars and Oreos and white chocolate chunks....and that's just for starters! Too MUCH! The few performances when he's stripped it down as well as resisted the urge to screech, I've enjoyed him so much more. But seriously, just ridding himself of the SCREEEEEEEEECHING would be a 100% improvement. :headache:

The judges act as if they've never seen anything like Adam and while they may never seen anything like him on the Idol Final 12, there are many other entertainers just like him out there. It's AI's fault if they've never made through on AI before, because I assure you, they have auditioned. Adam is not the first "Adam" to come along. For whatever reason, AI was ready for him this year. But there have been Adams for a very long time.

They do not call out Adam when he hits a bad note and he does hit them. They are, IMHO, too harsh on Chris/Kris, whom I believe has a legitimate chance at the finals. He is every bit as innovative as Adam (just in a different way) but he doesn't get credit for it. As for Matt, they go back and forth on him and half the time I don't think they are consistent. Sometimes they are unduly harsh. As for Allison, I'm ready for her to go, especially after tonight. I'm tired of her poor enunciation, of every song sounding like Rough Rocker Chick, even when it's not meant to. I found tonight's rendition to be jarring. She can blow out a note like nobody's business when it's a power note that is a little higher, but she can barely get the lower notes out without virtually speaking them. Every. Single. Word. Stands. Alone. And. Does. Not. Flow. Into. The Next. She's great at what she does, but what she does is very limited. Danny's voice doesn't make my ears bleed like Adam's, so he has an advantage there. But Danny is not as creative as Chris/Kris. No matter what happens to him, he'll make a fortune in Christian music.

Overall, I think Adam will win because of the nonstop pimping. But as the contest goes on, I think Chris/Kris is the more appealing because he sounds better, doesn't hurt my ears and is just as innovative in his own way. I don't think he will win, though, especially with some of the judges whinging about his performance when his performance was perfectly fine and some weeks, the best of the night.

As usual Adam blew the rest out of the water..... for me last night was

1- Adam
2-Allison
3- Chris
4- Danny (Chokey)
5- Matt

I would gladly put Danny in the bottom slot but Matt is just so bad I just can't do it! Danny sounds the same every single week- one song just blends into the other, no matter what he is singing it sounds just like what he sang the week before- boring!

A bit surprised by the DialIDol results, but they have been pretty far off the past couple weeks, so who knows. They have all the contestants so close anyway, that it's anyone's guess who goes home tonight...

As for my take on last night:

I really am starting to like Kris. He never does anything fancy, just sings. I like the tone of his voice. I thought he sounded really good last night, and I wouldn't be surprised to (or upset) to see a Kris/Adam finale.

I like Allison too, and thought she did really well last night but I agree with Simon she may be in trouble. Would really like to see her in Rock week, so I hope she sticks around another week.

I was out of the room for the first half of Matt's song, but I thought the second half sounded pretty good. My husband said he was horrible though, so maybe I heard the better half. While I think he's a good singer, he has probably gone as far as he can, and would do well to continue as a dueling piano player.

In all honesty I am astounded by the judges (and some of the posters here) praise of Danny's performance. While I am not a big fan of his to start with, judging his performance last night alone I thought the song was b..o..r..i..n..g... until the last 20 seconds, when he picked it up a little. I laughed when he said something about not changing up the song too much... does he ever? I don't get what people are hearing from him. He reminds me very much of Taylor Hicks (minus the spasms).

On to my favorite, Adam: Definitely not his best performance in my opinion; it was not quite as exciting as usual. Still, he is head and shoulders above the rest in performance and technical skills, so I don't see him going anywhere but to the final.

MY RANKINGS:
Kris
Adam
Allison
Danny
Matt

I don't know WHY they insist on having a night of old standards every year. I'm just surprised they didn't accuse anyo f the singers of being "irrelevent" last night. BArf...

Without a dout, the standalone, stand out performance was once again Adam's. There is no point in continuing the competition as none of the other performers have a prayer at the title and every single one of us (and them) knows it. Adam is the only reason to even bother tuning in. He wasn't even fantastic last night but he was entertaining as heck...the others are just time-fillers.

Matt was hands down the gib disappointment and the show set him up for that huge fall by showing in his pre-tape how excited he was that theywere finally doing "his" music and how he loves jazz and studied jazz. that way when he sang his crapatcular song he'd look extra foolish and get das boot.

Allison, Kris and Danny all had good performances. not memorable. Just good.

I think Matt is going to be saying bye bye tomorrow.

My list: Danny, Kris, Allison, Adam and Matt.

...based on last night's performances, I'd go with this list too.....except mebbe Adam IN FRONT OF Allison....

Well,He's like a dessert that doesn't know when to stop. Too MUCH!

I think this is the first review that made me really hungry! :rotfl: I think that sums up the feelings of those not on the Adam train. The ones who love him might be saying, "yeah, so what's wrong with that?" ;)

Anyway, I didn't watch live last night. I was supposed to go and work out but cheated and went shopping instead. Bad bad all the way around on my part. So, I did not hear any of the judges' reviews and only watched the performances on rickey.org

So, here's my 2cents worth:

Three way tie for first because no one was perfect :
Allison - I thought she did well last night in showing a softer side in both sound and look. She still has enunciation problems though and I wonder if it is because she has an accent.

Adam - I really liked it until the ending. Without that, I would've voted him number one by himself.

Danny - almost a moment for him and better than what he's done for several weeks. I know he is a "growly" singer, but I thought his voice sounded shredded. I remember that happening at one point to David Cook last year. (maybe more like top 3??)

Fourth Place: Kris - I usually rank him higher but since everyone did a decent job, I'll have to place him lower because of song choice and some of the weirdness in the middle of the song.

Last because someone has to be!: Matt - He could have knocked off Allison this week if he chose a different song. I wouldn't be shocked though if he stays around another week since he was boring not bad.

Random thoughts:
I want Allison to rock it out as her swan song next week. As much as I like her, I just don't think she has the fan support to get her to the finals. Please, God of Rock and Roll, give Allison at least one more week!! :worship:

The real competition at this point is between Danny and Kris for the finale spot with Adam. It will be a battle of the fanbases. Does the early pimpage and background story propel Danny to the finale or does the "little engine who could",Kris, overtake him? Neither have been in the bottom 3 so it's a toss up.

It's great to finally be to the part of the competition where I like all of the singers. I'm not in love with any this year :lovestruc:rotfl: so it is just entertainment at this point for me.

If Matt goes this week, I'll be thrilled with the final 4! They will be a perfect group for rock week (and oh, I hope we get to see Slash as a mentor!)

I always love Rat Pack week. The songs were so exquisitely crafted and crafted for real singers with breath control and technical skill.

I always say this season that if they'd just put Adam on first, I could watch him and then turn the tv off, because I am done. None of the rest even come close to his skill or his love of performing. I haven't even thought about going to a concert in two decades, but I'd line up to get tickets for his show.

Allison was the next best, IMO.

Kris has no charisma. A problem shared by Puppy Dog Matt and Praise Band Danny.

FWIW: In the latest issue of TV Guide, Simon says Adam is clearly the best but that he might not win Idol. He thinks Adam will lose because it's gonna come down to Danny and Adam and that America will vote for the safe choice, which is Danny. He also said that Adam is 100% star material and will be a worldwide star and Danny will only sell in the US.

Then again, Simon also said a few weeks ago that Lil was going to be in the top 3.

I just rewatched last night's performances and my take:

Adam - I really liked this. The first part with the walk down the stairs was awesome. I can't believe that anyone can hit and hold that last note like Adam. Just amazing.

Kris - I liked his performance but it wasn't very exciting. I thought he hit a bad note in the middle of his song but maybe he was trying to make that sound since no one else has mentioned this.

Allison - OK but I am still bothered by how she mumbles some of the lyrics. I felt like you should be able to understand the words with the type of music they were singing last night.

Danny - Just OK. I don't like his raspy voice so it is hard for me to really like anything that he does.

Matt - Didn't like it. He just needs to go.

I completely agree with that assessment. It will be a Reuben-Clay season. Reuben won, but Clay has a bigger career.

My prediction: Allison will get booted off tonight or next week. She will go on to sell lots of records and become a hit. why? She's a child prodigy and with youth on her side, she will go on to a great career. She will outsell anyone in the Top 5. (even Adam). But that's just my opinion from a commercial standpoint.
