Nah...Lee had that same "I'm going to die" look on his face during Hollywood week when he was sitting in front of the judges waiting to see if he made it through.

I hope he's never up for a Grammy, he may have a heart attack sittting right there on the split screen

Lee has been a nervous wreck at all the eliminations so I don't think they knew. He actually looked like he was going to throw up and I think maybe Crystal was just trying to calm him down There was a year where one of the finalists saw the results on Ryan's card though and I'm wracking my brain trying to remember who it was. Justin Guarini? Can't remember, I'll have to look it up.

Pretty sure this was season 2 when Reuben won over Clay Aiken.

DH is an AI hater. This morning they announced the winner on the radio and he wanted to know if Lee was the girl everybody had been saying would win. I told him NO that he was the guy, but it didn't really matter. I don't think we'll hear much from either of them.

He seems like a very nice guy. I just never got the vibe that he was good enough to win.

Rough indeed...the judges would have panned that performance if they could have (yes, yes, i know he was thrilled and upset and nervous...*still* it sounded rough).

Give the guy a break. He just had what was probably the most exciting moment in his life and he was incredibly emotional. I doubt that many people would be able to get up and sing perfectly.

Anyone notice that guys have won for the past 3 years? Estrogen is WELL overdue in the Idol Winners. Maybe NEXT year will be a girl's year?

At the beginning of the season I got the impression that the judges really wanted a girl to win, but I think they gave up hope as the season went on.

I think Crystal has a good voice, but I really think she needs to work on her appearance. I don't think she's popular with the younger crowd. My DD and her friends say she looks dirty because of her dreadlocks and her teeth. I thought she sounded awful singing with Alanis Morrissette. The judges would have had a field day with that.

My musings from the show last night:

- Loved the guy from "Pants on the Ground", but why add William Hung?

- Paula: AWKWARD!! was she making jokes and no one was laughing?

- AI rejects - what were they thinking? Then they had to cut away when the one jerk wouldn't even share the mic. The rejects are only funny in the early audition episodes.

- Glad Lee won. I imagine that Crystal will get a contract from someone too.

Kamlen, I agree with you on Crystal's appearance. I think the dreadlocks didn't do her any favors and she should fix her teeth. A lot of people are going to go with a more mainstream person in the final vote. Look at last year. I have no doubt that Adam's appearance affected the perception of some voters.

I think Lee always wanted to win, but thought he never could. He lacks confidence and it shows in his singing. I am looking forward to hearing whatever he puts out though because I really like his voice and think he has great potential.

I thought Crystal sounded great with Alanis. In fact, I commented to my husband that she sounded just as good as Alanis. I guess it's all a matter of perception and personal likes and dislikes.

uhhh none of the other winners sounded that horrible when they had to sing afterwards.

to be honest, most of the losing contestants didn't even sound that bad.

yeah i never really got a "winner" vibe from him, either, to be quite honest. he was always just kind of....there. there was one week i thought he did well on(i think the song was "Treat Her Like a Lady" or something along those lines)

i was explaining to someone here at work about the finale and told them about Alice Cooper and his reaction was kind of priceless altho i mentioned "well....the one guy i liked was in a school boy uniform....that was the most exciting moment of the whole night"
