Crystal Bowersox, Boyfriend Split On Eve Of 'Idol' Finale

"American Idol" runner-up Crystal Bowersox and boyfriend Tony Kusian have split.

After losing the "Idol" crown to Lee DeWyze on Wednesday night, the singer revealed to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show, "On Air With Ryan Seacrest," on Thursday morning that she'd also lost her relationship.

"Big Tony... he went home. He wasn't cool with the lifestyle," Crystal told Ryan. "I didn't break up with him... it was a mutual thing."

The folksy rocker mom has a son, Tony, from a previous relationship. According to Radar Online, the father of her child is also named Tony and hails from Bosnia. The singer said that her newfound fame has taken its toll on her relationship with Big Tony.

"It's cool though, we're both logical, grown adults," Crystal continued. "He's a small town guy and that's fine, but I'm a small town girl, but I want this. I want this more than anything, this career, this lifestyle. I didn't think he was up for it. He didn't think he was up for it. It's just been crazy."

The 24-year-old singer said the timing of the split was particularly hard, but that she tried to use the pain to inspire her performance.

"I was a little sad that he did it on performance day, but then again, it set that fire to my belly, you saw it," she explained.

Despite the split, Crystal said she wished Tony well and thanked him for his support during her "Idol" run.

"He's been amazing, he's stuck it out through this whole thing. I was really hoping that he was going to come to the finale," she said. " We're going to be friends for a long time."

Good for them. I hope they both have successful careers. They both seem like very nice people.

It must have been hard on Crystal to have the break up happen before her performance. She sure performed well though. Maybe she was able to focus all of her emotions on the songs.

Just fyi, I'm up because I can't sleep....I go to Disney in about 7 hours....

and you know, I'm gonna change my auditioning day for DHS to Monday....anyone else think he'll be at the AIE attraction that day to greet the winner of the day? It'd be a nice goal to shoot for.

If I won for the day, imagine the photopass pictures if we both took a pic together....that'd be weird....cool, and awkward at the same time.

uhhh none of the other winners sounded that horrible when they had to sing afterwards.

Well, seeing as she was always saying things like how she loved Lee AND had a crush on Casey...I kept thinking I wonder what her boyfriend thinks about that...not saying that those things had anything to do with them splitting but it makes you wonder.

They are under 19 for management, Jive or RCA for label.

OMG - YES!! We were commenting on it last night. They've always sounded similar (they are siblings, after all), but last night even more so than I've ever remembered before.
