Yeah, I'm willing to make any bet you want - right now - that Elliott's CD doesn't even come
close to outselling any of the top 3. It's the same old R&B crap that he did on the show - with less goat-like tendencies - and would probably have sold really well...in 1978.
I hope I'm wrong about Taylor, but as much as I liked him on the show, I just don't think he has much mainstream appeal. To be a success on the level of Kelly and Carrie, you really have to be able to appeal to non-AI fans, and I'm not sure that Taylor will be able to do that, particularly with the younger, CD-buying crowd. But, again, I hope I'm wrong about that, 'cause I like his sound and will continue to listen to him.
As for Chris...he definitely
does have a mainstream sound, and his album is probably the best of the bunch (though I haven't heard all of Kat's yet). Of them all, I think he has a pretty good chance of staying popular through a couple album releases. There are at least three or four songs on his CD that will get radio airplay, and that's a huge help.
