So WVRevy, who is Jordin's father? I will not know him but DH probably will and he watches the show.
Taylor and Chris both had bands last season. not well known and needed a break to make it big. its the same with any job or carear. sometimes you just need that extra help to make it big. whatever that may be for your profession. I dont think we should condemn a person because they have a musical background. thats why they are trying out for the show. its a show to find the best undiscovered talent everyone who tried out had a shot not just the ones singing at the local clubs or whatever. its not like Bon Jovi and Madonna are trying out. people are too quick to judge sometimes

I personally don't care if they are "professional". I'm sure that most AI contestants are professional, at least to some degree. If they are at all talented, they have earned money doing it, no matter how little or how much.
The point is, they have not "made it" yet, nationally. Perhaps in their city or state, they are well known, but that isn't the smae as being nationally known.
The pool of contestants would drop to many, many lesser talented contestants if the rules stated that you can't have earned a dime from your music in order to audition. That would be silly.
This is all about opinions. I think Blake and Jordin are the more talented, someone else thinks Melilnda is. No one is correct- not even professionally trained musicians like myself. So as far as America "getting it right"- there is no such thing. We all have our opinions and preferences.
yeah, he did. to me he sounds completely different now that he got them fixed, too. maybe it's just me. he looks better with them fixed at least! go Elliott. if i had $50,000 to spend on my teeth i'm sure they'd look that good too!
I've watched this show all but the first season and I've yet to pick the winner - mine always finish 2nd, 3rd or 4th - Clay Aikin, LaToya London, Bo Bice, Chris Daughtry and Melinda Doolittle. Guess I need to stop choosing the best vocal talent and go with the best "entertainer".
I agree that she is a wonderful performer. I think she has class & can definitely sing anything given to her.Well said Damo. I find Melinda to be a wonderful perfomer and I look forward to seeing her in concert
Definitely agree with you. Most of my votes were for Jordin, but I threw in quite a few for Melinda also. I won't be voting for Blake, not because I don't think he's a good entertainer but because I prefer Jordin. I think Blake has his own niche & will do great whether he wins AI or not.But I think Melinda going probably just won this thing for Jordin. I can't see Melinda's core audience voting for Blake, as they were probably attracted to Melinda's singing ability and that...isn't something she had in common with Blake.
I couldn't even tell you where any of the AI contestants are - past or present. For me, knowing about their personal lives has no bearing on how much I do or don't enjoy the show.I hate to say it, but I can't wait for this season to be over! I think one of the main reason AI is so huge and the debate about favorites can be so heated is that you become invested in these kids and in their lives - it's not "just about the music" as it is so often stated. I don't think they let the audience get invested this year and that could be why it has been met with general apathy.

Re: Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood...
Those two being the best selling Idols - BY FAR - in history doesn't say much for your abilities as a judge, Robin.
Sadly, I'm not surprised to see Melinda go. Jordin has been gaining momentum quite a bit for the last few weeks, and Blake...well, Blake gets a lot of votes too (and that's all I'll say about that.)
Does anyone know what happened to their bands after their big break? Do they get to tour with their bands? or do they have to use some industry professionals? Just curious...
Hip Hop sells MILLIONS of dollars worth music, too, so does country and hard rock... and I hate that stuff and will never buy it.
My "abilities" are my opinion. Like I always say...there are more of THEM than of me. I will probobly NEVER be a THEM.
Carrie and Kelly BORE me. REPEAT "me". I understand why people like them but they bore ME. I never expect the world to agree with my taste so if they outsell anyone I like... well, I've grown to expect that.
A Shakespearean play will never outsell a Travis Tritt concert and Earth Wind and Fire concert will never outsell a Guns and Roses concert... go figure!![]()
I am finally just watching the episode. Blake looked really suprised and almost disturbed that he'd won (or that she'd lost). He really seemed to expect to go home.
I don't know that it is bad that she lost, in the end. She will have a lot of record companies interested, she'll be able to choose her own contract instead of being stuck with an AI contract. Look at Elliot - he's got an independent contract. Simon Cowells label may sign her either way.
She's definitely grown as a singer over the season and since she was first on. Amazing! Personally, I think she has lots of personality.
What shocked me was earlier in the show, Ryan saying that Melinda was going home (of course, he meant that she was going to go home to see her friends/family, etc., but that isn't what it sounded like).
I caught that too and wondered if Ryan had a fraudian slip of the tongue then realized he meant she was going home to her HOMETOWN.

Ryan does know, doesn't he? I don't think the judges know, but it seems Ryan may ahead of time. I hope he didn't on purpose.
Knowing the results before watching made it more suprising. I was like "huh?", and Melinda looked shocked too!
Oh Ryan knows - I think he finds out first thing the next morning.......I did notice Melinda looking at both Blake and Jordin with a surprised expression when Ryan said that too. He should of worded it different.

Hardly what you'd expect from someone that is smug and arrogant.![]()
(which btw, I thought were ridiculous words to use to describe him)
