American Idol, Season 5 **Official Discussion Thread**

Well all you ace fans if you really like him you better start VOTING over and over!! Newsday today is reporting that Ace, Elliot and Chris were "among the LOWEST vote getters" ! That was surprising!!

That really surprises me - I couldn't get through for the first 45 minutes on Chris's line, and Ace's I only got through twice. (I went to bed after 45 minutes though!)

I'm guessing who's going at about 50%. I got Stevie and Bobby right but not the other two.

Patrick wasn't a big surprise but I thought it might have been Bucky. However, during the group sing at the beginning of the show we got to hear Bucky sing solo for about 15 seconds. I was like, is this the same guy who sang on Wednesday?? He sounded great! I'm going to see if I can find a video of that song online just to make sure but if that's the "REAL" Bucky then I'm glad he'll be around for another week. Hopefully he'll have a better song choice for the next show.

I was mildly surprised that Becky went. There's a mid group of 5 that she was in that basically are nothing special so it could have been any one of them. As for Brenna, yeah, I find her annoying but I would like to hear her one more time with a song better suited for her personality.

Next weeks shows are an hour and a half on Tuesday and Wednesday. As for Thursday, I'm assuming it will be an hour again.

This is my first season watching and I am really enjoying it! So what happens next? Last night was only an hour - is that the norm now? Will it be on 2 or 3 times a week? (I need to be able to plan my time! )

Did anyone else notice Lisa crying near the end? It must be tough on them all as even tho they are competing with each other they must also form friendships. It must be hitting them now that their group will be breaking up.

And are Simon and Pauloa ALWAYS arguing? I like all three judges but Simon is my favorite because he tells it like it is. He may be rough at times, but that's the real world!

My favorites - Lisa & Taylor. Sorry, Ace just doesn't "do it" for me but he can sing. I thought Chris was great! None of the other girls really stand out to me. DD7 likes Paris and I agree she is good, but I think her talents are limited.

Just found this thread- I love AI... Taylor is my favorite but I am really liking most of the guys that are left. I just received my Taylor " Under the radar" cd in the mail and it is good. can't wait to see what happens next week.

Welcome to the phenomenom.....It will be like it was this week for 2 more weeks...then we will be down to 12....6 boys and 6 girls....then it will be a 1 hour show and a 30 minute vote off show...once down to the 12 each week they will be asked to sing a different genre of music and might even have some celebrity judges for that genre...

Yes Paula and Simon always argue....they need to go ahead and get a room and be done with it....its sickening sometimes....Paula is stupid sometimes....she never gives any criticism....I know a girl who was on AI 2 season and says simon is genuine and gives the best advice...

I think he looks more live Fred Savage, I see nothing of Donny Osmond in him at all.

I think Will looks like a mixture of Peter Brady and Fred Savage. But whatever he looks like, he's the one I have a crush on this season. I don't care if he's 6 years younger than me. I think he has a great singing voice but just how a lot of other people feel about Ace, I want Will staying around just so I can see him every week!

I can't really envision Gedeon's ears at the moment, but are you sure you don't mean Elliot's? His ears are misplaced. If you look at him next time you will notice that the very top of his ears are below his eyes (compare him to anyone else and you will see what I mean). That is a physical anomaly. I'm an audiologist, so I notice ears right away, LOL! It is most likely a genetic trait (often seen in syndromes), but apparently it hasn't affected his hearing OR his singing. I think he's one of the best, but it's so hard to concentrate on his voice when he's singing, I just keep staring at his ears!

Its no secret that I'm a VFTW supporter. But even without VFTW, I'd be a Brenna fan (I feel like a duck!)

VFTW also supported Bobby this week. I seriously thought both Brenna and Bobby were going to be gone this week. Both choices were uphill battles. With both Bobby and Brenna, VFTW was supporting two people that basically had NO fanbases. Some people must have voted for Brenna though (unless the powers that be wanted to avoid the firestorm over Becky's pictures, even though some people (and I'm sure the powers) have known about them for weeks. But its no secret that beautiful, semi-talented girls don't have a good track record on the show.) So, I was absolutely shocked VFTW went 1/2 this week when I was expecting 0/2. Next week unless Heather and Kinnik/Melissa completely bomb, Brenna will go. As for the guys, I see VFTW either supporting Sway (NOOOOO!) or David (my choice!).

Ok, thats enough of my VFTW ramblings.

I have throughout the week called him Peter Brady, Donny Osmond and Fred Savage. He has that sweet look.

BTW-Thanks for the Donny picture. I love me some 70's Donny.

Here we go with the VFTW stuff. It's stupid and it ruins the show. While I agree with the female picks last night, I can't believe Patrick got voted off. Not that I think he's the best, but he's got a great voice and that I can think of at least 3 or guys that should have been voted off before him! Like that annoying Will guy. Or Gedeon. My dh says his smile reminds him of Eddie Murphy! Or that really annoying crooner guy!
