American Idol, Season 5 **Official Discussion Thread** Part 2

Well it's getting down to the point where everyone is pretty good but someone has to go.

At the risk of incurring the wrath of the Bucky boosters, I just think he is the least professional and the weakest voice, and he's really the only one I cannot for the life of me understand how he is still here. (He does seem like a really nice guy). The rest, they all have their star qualities.

I'm still waiting for one of them to seem like a real "American Idol." Queen week should separate the men from the boys!

After Simon's abuse about her clothing choices before, who could blame her?

:lmao: Should be an interesting week.

Oh I think it's brilliant. Queen was a strange bunch, but their songs are really great, beautiful, some of them. They are the kind that are just waiting for people to make their own. I think it truly will be fun to watch.

wow, can't believe dialidol was right on last night. i am thrilled that elliott scraped by - he's my favorite - but shocked and disappointed that mandisa left. once elliott and taylor are gone, i'll have little reason to tune in, especially if pickler hangs in there :sad2: plain old disappointed is how i'm feeling.
i am looking forward to queen night though....i hope someone does "under pressure" :thumbsup2 i also hope they do an elton john night again.

First of all I didn't slam anyone, if you are talking to me. I just don't think he is very talented. This is a competition and someone has to lose. It should be him. Nothing personal.

I'm certainly not the only fan of Elliot's voice. The judges seem to like him. Are you a high school student or something. You talk about this like you are electing prom queen or something. Calm down, it's just a tv show.

***Edited because it just isn't worth the effort and returning personal insults with more insults is just too "high school"-ish. ;) ***

I was sorry to see Mandisa go, I thought it would've been Elliot or Paris. Excited that Bucky wasn't even in the bottom 3 :woohoo: and I liked the top 3 too. I thought Ace was great this past week, hopefully he'll continue to improve. I'd like to see Paris and Katheryn go next.

So sensitive? :confused3 Curious!

I never pegged you for one of those "dish it out but can't take it" kinds.

Those who live by the sword die by the sword, didn't you know that?

Queen night is going to be TOUGH, especially for the girls. I would be willing to bet that Kellie has never even heard of Queen. PLUS, what the heck...Seacrest says that the contestants went to go meet and practice with the band???? :confused3 Seriously, without Freddie Mercury there is NO Queen :smooth:

Personally, I think Mandisa got booted JUST so somebody could sing "Fat Bottomed Girls" next week with a straight face :lmao: (Sorry , couldn't help it.) I DO stand by my assertion that PAris should've been kicked out. However we all know Mandisa would've gone eventually, so I'm ok with it. CAreer-wise, she'll be fine. :goodvibes

Now, what-oh-what, will the remaining 8 sing?

Chris: He could sing me the phone book  , but I tend to think he'll put his own "edge" on either "We Will Rock You" or even "Another one Bites the Dust".

Taylor: Even though that what's-his-name-crooner-guy ruined it in the final 32, Taylor could revive a much better rendition of "Crazy Little Thing Called Love".

Ace: "We Are The Champions" for the high notes and slowness.

Bucky: Oof...maybe he could sit this one out? I have no clue what he could sing.

Elliot: "Under Pressure". It's melodic and he'll do it justice.

Katherine: The ONLY one who should even consider "Bohemian Rhapsody", but it will sound weird with a chick singing it.

Paris: "I Want to Break Free"...I guess :rolleyes2 She'll suck no matter what she sings.

Kellie: What's a "Freddie Mercury"? :lmao:

Bottom 3 before the show ever airs: Bucky, Kellie and PAris.

Who is going home: PAris :thumbsup2

I always feel bad for the person when they get booted off. What can I say, I'm a group crier.

But, I won't be heart broken when any of the ladies are voted off this year. I know how a lot of you Mandisa fans feel though. I felt the same way when Constantine got voted off last year. I knew he wouldn't win, but I thought he'd be there for the final 3 or 4. Honestly, at the beginning, I thought Mandisa would be around to that level as well but the last few weeks she just didn't connect.

Queen week will either be really awesome, or really horrible. Time will tell!

I'd say that America was just too shallow and image conscious didn't want a fat girl, but then how does that explain Taylor (not a fat girl, but not a pop star, either.)

because she's a woman and taylor is a man...double standard....IMHO.

Sorry to disagree Ruben was the best voice of the 2.....I loved his voice and couldnt really stand to look at Clay when he sang....Clay has become more popular than Ruben bur when was the last time I heard a Clay song either....I think the ones doing the best from this show are Kelly, Carrie and Josh Gracin....I really liked Ruben but not a big fan of Clay

i think this might be a regional thing. Kelly obviously is EVERYWHERE, but in our area, i haven't heard a single PEEP from Carrie or Josh since their seasons of Idol ended...Clay I have heard on the radio. This is not a big area for country music at all, so maybe that's why. Or maybe I just don't watch enough MTV :confused3 Personally, I know maybe 2 people who are really into country music (other than my relatives in NC). You just don't hear a lot of it around here. I'm from Connecticut originally and - I kid you not - country music was forbidden in my house growing up! :rotfl: my dad HATES it!

you and me both. I think I am just going to be sad every week from now on no matter what happens.

No matter what I think of their talent, they just each, in their own ways, seem like genuinely nice people. I've never watched as religiously as I have this year. Is it always like this, with such likeable people?

Every year I usually only have a few favorites...but this year I've liked everyone except for Melissa and Bucky. So Wednesday's are always going to be a sad day from now on.

Exactly. Ruben won but from the very beginning we heard that Mandisa never could because of her weight. Men are judged based primarily on their achievements while women are judged based primarily on their looks.

I was probably more emotionally involved :rotfl2: with only a few last year but when they didn't win or with one in particular staying longer than I thought he should, I was much more upset than any eliminations this year.

Overall, I like the group as a whole this year. They are very diverse and other than Paris, no one really rubs me the wrong way. And, in her defense, she has grown on me a little bit the last few weeks.

I voted a lot last year and have not voted once this year. Pretty soon though I'll start voting for Taylor, maybe.

I think it's so sweet how upset she gets every time someone is voted off. She's got a very tender heart, and she's young. I wouldn't choose her for this competition, but I think she could go places.

I'm no great Bucky fan, but I think he could sing the heck out of "Fat Bottom Girls!"

As Freddie was the worlds greatest male vocalist, it's going to be tough to supress the urge to compare. Queen is struggling with that right now, great as Paul Rodgers is. But those songs are incredible, I can't wait.

ME too - GO BUCKY!!! :cool1:

:cheer2: Ok, I've read where Rocky has said that Bucky is more rock then he is so I can't wait until next week when BUCKY ROCKS OUT!!!!! :cheer2:

It's so hard to see people leave once they get to the top 12 - we all know that they are all talented in their own way - not everyone is going to like all the contestants. I just hate to come here and see all the negativity about other contestants. Ok, done venting, LOL!!!

By this stage in the program...yes. In the first couple weeks there is usually someone that EVERYONE wants booted off. Last year it was Mikayla. Another year it was Carmen (aka Goat Girl). Last year Constantine got voted off right around the same time and there was outrage over it. It just geta harder and harder every week form now on. There are only 2 or 3 out of the remaining group that I really want to get voted off. After that I have no clue who I want to win it all.
