I love Renegade and I definately thought he did it justice. It was too bad he got screechy during I Dare You. If you listen to Shinedown's version, they dont really shout at all in it. He sang it much better in the recap at the end. I assume the recaps are taped during their rehersals since Chris did some moves in the recap that he didnt do on the show.
He looked HOT in the leather jacket too!![]()
I guess I am a rocker at heart. I am 38, so I am no spring chicken in case that's what you are wondering. I am just wondering what are the ages of those that love Taylor so much? I just dont get it. He is funny and amusing, but I just dont see him as the "American Idol". He is a little too spastic for me. I would have loved to hear him sing a modern song last night-the Beattles song seemed like the wrong choice for last night.
For those of you that critize that Chris always sounds the same, I disagree. He has done plenty of rock sings, but has also done slower songs like on country night, 50s night and last week. You cannot say the same for Elliott. He sounds like a Stevie Wonder knock off every single time. I would love to see Katherine or Elliott rock it out more once in a while. At Paris tried once during Quenn night.
Just my two cents.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. So, you're okay now with them making Taylor change songs the other week?if the producers thought it fit the theme - whatever - works for me![]()
Viewers generally vote for the singer not the performance. That's why there weren't separate telephone numbers for the two separate performances each singer gave last night. In that context, viewers vote for who they feel is the best singer, and we have weeks and weeks of performances on which to based that determination (though last night's performances are the freshest on our minds, of course). The worst performances that particular week should be the one going home, right?

Anyhoo, looooooved Taylor, thought that Paris doing Kiss was a little "odd", but her performance was fairly well. I don't believe, for one cussing moment, that she said a naughty word during the song (I believe that she, as well as her family, have much better sense than to allow this to happen. These folks are not stupid). Paris would never cuss in front of grandma, especially on national tv! But, hey, what do I know

Thump, I'm on the floor. There it is.

DBarber600 said:Exactly! If Mandisa's 50s night performance was classified as sexy, then so should this performance, at least by Paula (she is a woman). Listen to the mp3 and hear the women in the audience scream after that phrasing...
bicker said:My biggest problem with Taylor's choice is that it communicates just what you're getting with him: Nothing new. Why is he so afraid to sing new music? Is that the kind of career he hopes to have? Just singing covers of old songs? I'd never buy into that. I might go to a performance on a cruise ship like that, and might even go to a local fall festival with that kind of music, but I wouldn't really commit to a performer who's just giving me "his own take" on stuff other folks made famous already. This was one of the idols' few opportunities to show they had some ability to work with new material. He simply decided that wasn't for him. Very bad choice.
You missed my point. I didn't say anything about the singers singing "their own original songs". What I said was that this week was about singing a song that has an established history and singing a song for which there isn't an established history. There are different skills necessary for each. For a song with an established history, you need to make people either forget the original or you need to exceed the original, to truly do well. For a song without an established history, you actually have to make people like the song, which is very difficult, since many people develop a liking for songs over time, not at first hearing. Seems to me Taylor just wants to sing "golden oldies" -- songs that people already have an firmly established feeling about. I don't know why he did that, but my conclusion is he either didn't feel he could, or didn't feel he needed to, show that he could competently showcase a song that doesn't have a long history.I disagree totallly.
