Television Without Pity

They recap a lot of TV shows and have forums. Most of it is really snarky which is why I like it. I started reading there during the Sopranos run. I've also read some on the House forums. It is a plethora (my word nerd for the day) of knowledge.

Would you say that I have a...plethora of pinatas?

Did any of you see the red carpet show before the IDOL finale - when David Cook came up the red carpet - he stopped to talk to Kimberly Caldwell, thanked her for all the nice things she's said about him during the season and asked her out to dinner and gave her a flower - my jaw hit the ground.

He could do so much better than her. I didn't like her when she was IDOL and I still don't like her.

I saw that. There is a Lacey red carpet interview where she said a bunch of friends have hung out at "the apartments." I suppose there's been at least a few parties where the young, Hollywood crowd get together. So, when she dumps him, we'll get a really good, angsty acoustic CD. (but I don't really want his heart broken though)

He's got a lot on his plate for the next few years. I hope he does find a nice girl along the way.

The words Archie and Jive should NOT be in the same sentence...:surfweb:

Jive doesn't really represent their clientel. If you have $15k and a demo you can get signed to Jive records. It is a good jumping off point because they'll put you on tour but they have trouble getting a lot of new acts on the radio and into the spotlight. Archie's going to have to do a lot of promo work on his own to maintain his "momentum." It gets a lot harder from here out.

Is Jive associated with 19E?

Yikes!! :scared:

DC's blog. November 17th, 2005. (I had to edit out some words, just in case...)

OK, so here's the skinny....

I posed in my sexiest pair of lace undergarments for some promotional photography earlier this week, under the watchful "eye" of Ms. Randi Kampeter. It was entirely too much fun and I can't wait to show you the results. We just have to find a way to wash (EDIT for the Dis) fluid out of an aperture lens (that was a joke.)

Also, I know I've been teasing you constantly with this whole "solo album" business. I mean not to string you along. I'm currently looking for a "financial friend" who wants to invest in me and my music, so until then, or until the Missouri Lottery stops being a huge douche nozzle, this will be the only place to hear my stuff. I AM DETERMINED to get this album out for all of you, as well as myself. I'm extremely proud of this and I want to share it with you all. So, as a result, I promise, that SOMEHOW, SOMEWAY, this album will see the light of day....

Did you all read this? The "fluid" part cracked me up. As did his comment about the lottery.

Jordin and Chris Brown are with Jive now, too. My cousin used to work with them.

David has enough back up people to work for him... and AI was all the marketing he'll possibly need. He can burp on cue and certain little girls will buy his (at least his FIRST) CD.

Let's see if his momentum stays strong. I know the Claymates hung in there because they thought their man was ROBBED..

I don't think it's direct deal. Most of the smaller labels (Jive, Arista, Columbia, etc.) operate via Sony/BMG from what I understand and that's 19e's primary vessel for their acts. I think Jordan is under Jive as well. How often do you hear Jordan Sparks on the Radio or see mention of her projects in Rolling Stone, Blender, etc. Not as much as Kelly Clarkson and other non-idol stars. I know she's just a year into the spotlight but really that's the most important time to make your impact. In this day and age if you don't hit the ground running you crash and that's it. Look at Taylor and Ruben. You've got to stay as busy as possible. Tour all the time and record when you're not touring. It's a grueling pace but that's the cost of lasting fame.

In essence a higher paying record deal is good but you're better off as an artist under a label that is going to invest in your image and not your music fiscally speaking of course.

You may hear about Archie's sweat deal which really just means he's getting paid more up front for his up coming album(s) but the real money is made on tour and via promotional work.

David Cook is now in the hot seat, he will be the dumpER, not the dumpEE.

He's still young, he needs to sow his oats.. and Lord knows Kim looks like it wouldn't take much to get what he needs from her. Give him a few years and he'll find his soulmate.

MJ - When did you take all of these photos?
DC - I needed the cash. I was young and stupid.
MJ - This one's... intersting.
DC - IT WAS COLD IN THERE!!!

:lmao:

apparently Dave had his arms around Kim. GRRR. Where is attack kitty???

Hey thanks for posting. He had all his old pics on there, too, and looking through them I found a gem! Now I can brag to my friends that I was at the AI finale last year...

You probably have to see a side profile to get the full effect. :rolleyes1

Clay also works his dainty little buns off. He performs year round, does Christmas albums and specials and pretty much keeps himself in the limelight. If Archie wants anything near that kind of action he's got to get out there. Being that he's not done with high school that will be a problem. By the time he's ready to start working as a traveling musician his fans may forget about him.

LAME! DC's personal page....now has a redirect. If you try to go to his old personal myspace page...it redirects you to his "official" page. So lame. I'm glad I saved all of his blog entries before that happened! WOO!

David Cook's blog

Lastly, I've been thinking of changing the name of the album from "A Second Chance At A First Impression" to "My Analog Heart". The former title is pretty obvious to those who know the story of David Cook, but for those who don't, it basically implies that this album is a new start for me. A chance, if you will, to branch out from the whole Axium thing and try something else.

"My Analog Heart", to me, symbolizes the whole "I wear my heart on my sleeve" mentality. Some view that as an old school, chivalrous thing to do, hence the "Analog" aspect. So "My Analog heart' suggests a few things about me.
