my daughters get chocolate sent to them from thier grandad in chicargo called hershey bars or something to that effect, its filth to put it nicely it has a hint of vomit to it,i am sure some people like it but my little ones hate it.is there other type of chocolate available in orlando, this might seem trivial but you have not seen my kids with no brown stuff for 2 weeks :badpc: :crazy2: :hmghost: :maleficen so please tell me theres something else or i will need one suitcase for mr cadburys :sad2:

Hershey's is the main brand, however you can buy Cadbury out there , they sell it at the Ethnic Aisle at Publix, and at the Union Jack British Goods Store at Old Town in Kissimmee.

There are also numerous chocolate based stores within the Florida Mall, including Lindt and there is also a great sweet shop at the mall called 'Dylan's Candy Store'.

I agree it is disgusting but it's so hot you really won't want chocolate - far too sickly in the high temperatures.

I totally agree. BUT if your children are really desperate then I am quite sure that a shop in the UK pavillion of EPCOT stock Cadbury's. :)

:wizard:

I think to call it "filth" is a bit strong! I think I would be offended to hear UK chocolate described like that!

I agree it is an acquired taste but I enjoy it.

I take it with me, I've had Cadburys in the US and it does not taste as nice. Also those Nestle Crunch bars are not too bad.

American here...I'm a fan of Hersheys, thats what I grew up with. There are MANY other kinds of chocolate available as well. Many people here like Ghirradelli from San Francisco.

Is Cadbury the chocolate of choice in the UK? Also, is that the same Cadbury they sell here in the States?

Nestle is another brand here. I think Hersheys is better though. To each his own, I guess.

thanks for your comments perhaps filth was a bit strong but i tend to tell i as i see it,sorry if i have offended any hershey lovers nothing personal. :thumbsup2

As a brit here i have to say, Hershey's chocolate YUCK! No offense but it does have a vomit after taste. Cadburys in the UK is ten times better than America (It's too sickly over there) Although Hersheys Reeses Pieces are lovely! I bring them back every time i go over! They do Galaxy over there but they call it 'Dove' but its basically the same thing! (personally im more of a galaxy girl than cadburys). There are plenty of other chocolate types over there for your kids to get a suger rush out of, Nestle Crunch is lovely and plenty of amazing bubblegum and pop tart flavors too!

No offense taken. Everyone has their own tastes.....ever eaten in London? :crazy2:

Just kidding :teeth:

One thing I've noticed, when we have the Americans come over here on a business trips they always take time out to buy Cadbury's Chocolate and Terry's Chocolate Oranges to take back to the States. I asked them once, why they did this; their reply "Have you ever tasted American chocolate?", which I have to admit I never have....but I do love the Chocolate Brownies.

Despite all the comments about Hershey's being filth,it is not - but it is different.

It may surprise people to know that so-called British chocolate contains far more vegetable fat and very little chocolate - especially milk chocolate. Fat is a flavour enhancer (and artery-furrer). Hershey's on the other hand has a much lower fat content and a high chocolate content.

Chocolate is naturally bitter, sugar and other sweetners are added. The nearest that Hershey's and Cadbury's get to each other is Bournville plain chocolate - but even this has a higher sugar content.

So with all the fat and sugar, it is British milk chocolate that deserves the label 'filth'. There was a complaint by European chocolate makers at one time about Britich chocolate not containing enough cocoa solids to leaglly be called chocolate.

At the end of the day, it is what you are used to and whether you are willing to try new things and acquire new tastes. Taking British chocolate to the US is the equivalent of all the Spanish coastal resort cafes offering 'British cuisine' - when abroad, don't try to make it little England

Check out Fresh Market, just outside of DTD. It carries a good assortment of chocolates including Sharffen Berger which is anything but filth.

I love "good" chocolate, in fact we only eat good quality chocolate with a high cocoa content, but I'm afraid I don't find Hershey's tastes remotely like it.

its great to see all sides to this debate, :stir: makes for a interesting topic is there anything in particular (food wise)you dislike dissers

I prefer UK Cadbury's choc but while in the States, I usually do like to buy a few bars of anything with Peanut butter as an ingredient!
Have to agree that Cadbury's does not tend to taste the same in other countries as here - think I've heard that it's something to do with withstanding higher temperatures in some other countries.
A few years ago, I spotted Cadbury's Old Jamaica in Kenya (after it was discontinued here) and as it's me and my dad's favourite choc I had to 'stock up' with over a dozen bars. Unfortunately it tasted awful when we got round to tasting it and had to throw it all away - broke my heart, I can tell you!
Actually, come to think of it, it tasted pretty yummy in Sth Africa - must just be certain countries then! :confused3

I dont like Hersheys either i also think it smells like sick but tastes ok but because of the smell i dont like it. My family 2 adults and 2 children and also a baby now who obviously dosnt have choc yet like 3 muskaters a bit like a mixture between a mars bar and a milky way also amond mars bar really good and there is something like maltesers called malt balls i think. Ok there different from over here but i really love going to the cinema for eg and seeing the different sweets and get a buzz because you no your somewhere different.
