Hersheys chocolate is petty poor. I cant say I like Cadburys either - far too sweet and well, I just dont like the taste. I much prefer Galaxy - smoother and less sweet. Ghiradellis, I like a lot. My favourite has to be 70 per cent cocoa solid chocolate such as Lindt or Green and Blacks. Now that is good!

i tried hersleys last year while out there ewww i hate it, i'm a cadbury's girl. i too fould cadbury's at PUBLIX, but it's still not as good as the bars back in England. these ones out made out in the states.

We travel all over the world and all we want to do is eat bloomin "British" foods!

American chocolate tasts different, so does European chocolate and they are for various reasons different. It does not make them "Filth" it makes them different that's all. So you don't like it? don't eat it. But for two weeks, try and eat ethnic foods will you?

You can come back to the UK and eat to your hearts content the chemically produced bland rubbish we class as food over here and you can stuff yourself with Cadbury's "Russian roulette" chocolate and see if you can get away without getting salmonella food poisoning, or mad cow desease, or scrapies, or the rest of the many health problems our food agency have failed to stamp out. Why on earth is it that our local dish is now Curry? because thye majority of our countrymen would not know a decent cut of meat or fish dish from a highly spiced 17 pints afterwards cheap meat curry!

But to criticise other countries foods as "Filth" based upon what seems to be a very minimal understanding of other countries tastes is tantamount to arrogance of the worst kind.

Its what has destroyed the ability to get a decent local culinary experiance n the Spanish Costas. I certainly do not want to see that happen in Florida.

I like English chocolate, I like European chocolate, I like Hershys as well. they all have different tastes. Different, not "filth"

hmm, no real opinion on chocolate personally, I think Mozzman accepts the 'filth' comment was probably un-called for as his previous posts suggests and I think it was too.

However, if that is the reason why people hate Britons and has apparently ruined the Spanish costa's then it deserves to go in the Guinness Book Of Records.

Unfortunatley the bottom line to this debate is we are on a UK Trip Planning Forum arguing about Chocolate - which I find quite unbelievable.

i also have to agree with obi one, though want he said was probably a little stronger than what i would have said, ignorance and lack of respect for our own culture has led to a loss in our great culinary resources. Food is something I feel very strongly about, unfortunately i am one of very few. I fight constantly at school with kids who dont think food is important, that they dont need to know how to cook cause they live on takeaways at home
how will todays youth learn anything if we wiser and often older people dont teach them???

i whole heartedly apologise to anybody upset at this thread a tongue in cheek comment about chocolate has gone well over the top with some joining the funny side and others thinking i am some sort of ogre,time to let it rest now i think i certainly dont want people to stop using these boards your knowledge is invaluable.my mistake was to probably over estimate peoples sense of fun.for that i apologise oh yes and i cook a mean salad

Subsequently it has strayed totally off topic but unfortunately both Karen and myself are away this weekend - (I am posting this using my phone) and cant do anything positive to close it. I have edited my earlier post as I don't think Mozzman intended to cause any upset, my comments reflect a general feeling that things haven't been quite as much fun on here of late and were not necessarily aimed at the OP.
