Amber's Get Healthy Journal (Comments Welcome)

OMG Amber bedbugs! This weekend I kept feeling itchy and thinking maybe it was bedbugs...but in my case it was psychosomatic! I would have totally freaked out!

Looks like you met your april exercise challenge...you go girl! And keep us posted on the house stuff, its getting exciting..you will have to post some pics when they get started.

:hippie:

Today -
I was bad for lunch. I went to Subway and instead of getting the oven roasted chicken sandwich, I got a Meatball sub on Garlic toasted Wheat bread. I even looked it up beforehand and knew that it was at least 10 fat grams more but it is my favorite sandwich and it was the Special of the day. So...
Breakfast - Oatmeal, coffee
Lunch - Subway 6" meatball sub, Baked Ruffles cheddar & sour cream, sw. tea
Dinner - leftover chili
Totals - Cal - 1229, fat - 36

Exercise - walk/jog 3 miles total w/ 7 one minute jogs on laps 3-9. Total - 60 minutes (it was a little less, but I did some stretching and lunges & jumping jacks when we stopped to talk to my dad)

Gotta run. Have a good night! :sunny:

Amber - gotta treat yourself every once in a while so don't feel bad about the sandwich!! Besides, you did 60 minutes of exercise to offset the extra fat grams. Plus, there are far worse meals out there than Subway...I think you did a great job!

Just a quickie tonight, gotta get to bed.

Breakfast - mini wheats w/ milk, coffee
Lunch - Healthy Choice rigatoni w/ broccoli & chicken, applesauce
Snack - popcorn
Dinner - shrimp alfredo pasta, salad
Snack - 1 piece of "cake" that my grandma made, it is more like a brownie though.
totals - cal - 1283, fat - 34

Exercise - 63 minutes of walking. We stopped a couple of times briefly, but I stopped the clock then too. Not sure the actual distance because sis made us walk through the fields around the house rather than on the usual path.

Good night, Sleep tight!

Doin' great Amber...keep it up!!
When do you go out of town again?

Thanks Marie! I leave to go out of town again on Sunday. I will be back in Athens again for a week. It is the last training that I am signed up for at the moment, but I know I have at least one more week to go. It could be another month before I have to go to that one though.

Today so far-
Breakfast - mini wheats w/ milk, coffee
Lunch - chicken sandwich, apple
Snack - smallish piece of brownie cake thing... I was hungry and cooking dinner :confused3
Dinner - Broccoli, chicken & cream of mushroom soup over rice.
Totals - cal - 1166, fat - 28 (I may still have another piece of cake  )

Dinner was way easy and yummy too. I used the 98% ff soup, so it wasn't too fattening either. Dh said about 10 times how good it was, I think he was just being nice though, cause I struggled to figure out what to make & didn't really want to cook. He's such a sweet man.

Exercise today - one lap on the bike, 4 laps of walking and 3 w/ one minute jogs in them. total of 2 miles & 40 minutes. :confused3 not sure why the time is high, we must have been slow on a couple of the laps. I was feeling Really tired during the walk/jog today. On jog #2 I didn't quite make it the full minute but went further than usual. Sis said I was going faster than she usually does and she usually runs faster than I do, :confused3 I didn't feel like I was running faster, but I sure ran out of fuel faster.

Keep movin & shakin! :yay: See Ya'll tomorrow!

/
Hey Amber - good job on picking up the speed on your sis! LOL
Also, we make chicken & rice - but we use cream of chicken soup - dh doesn't like mushrooms. It's about the only thing the kids REALLY like and ask for! (we cut up the chicken and mix it all together w/ the rice & soup...it really is good!)

Anyway, have a great weekend!
marie

My sons favorite meal...chicken and gunky rice. Its not exactly the same as yours...not healthy either! Its good tho! Take a casserole dish (or one of those earthenware baking dishes) put dry brown rice on the bottom. Put bone-in chicken peices on top. Put in a package of biscuit gravy (you know those pouches things) Put in enough liquid for the rice (water, chicken broth or skim milk) Cook for about an hour. Voila! chicken and gunky rice..yum!
:hippie:

Been a pretty busy weekend, but I have been keeping track of my eating. I think I enjoyed eating out a LOT more when I didn't record the calories and fat afterward! :sad2: Some of it is estimated or I just went with the closest thing that was in the fitday database, but this weekend was BAD!

Friday -
Breakfast - mini wheats w/ milk, coffee
lunch - broccoli, chicken bake w/ rice
dinner - chicken taco salad w/ shell
totals - cal - 1151, fat - 42

No exercise

Saturday - we went to Six Flags and got season passes, it was WAY too crowded, so we ended up leaving after about 4 hours. I counted 1 hour of walking for the day.

Breakfast - sausage, egg, & cheese biscuit; milk
lunch - chicken burrito and spanish rice (at six flags)
dinner - Stevi B's buffet pizza like 8 pieces and then dessert  ( I counted it as eating a whole pizza! :sad2: )
Total - cal - 3065! Fat - 144 ! YIKES! It can't have been that bad!!! Jeepers!! That will be like a month of exercise to work off!!

Today - not much better....
lunch - homemade fried chicken, rice & gravy, corn, salad, biscuit
snack - boiled peanuts ( I didn't think these were nearly as bad as they are! )
Dinner - broccoli cheese soup, southwestern cobb chicken salad from Chili's
Totals - cal - 1738, fat - 85 :rolleyes1

Exercise - walking and biking for 36 minutes total. I was able to bike a little bit longer today, but it still wore me out pretty quick!

I am in Athens again. I am now truely not looking forward to eating out all week! I am really glad now that I committed to the journaling challenge for this month. I almost didn't log my weekend eating, but now I am really glad I did. I will be much more aware and careful about what I eat this week.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Linda your chicken and gunky rice sounds pretty good! I might have to try that some time.

Amber - good luck this week with the eating...I know it's hard when you are away from home but I'm sure you'll do great!! And you should avoid Six Flags over Georgia on Saturdays....best time is Sunday morning, all rides are walk ons until about 2pm. Goliath is awesome!

Scott - thanks for the encouraging words! I am struggling already, but I'll make it I think. ;) About Six Flags, we were figuring that the next time we go would need to be a Sunday. A lot of the coupons that they give w/ the season pass are for Sundays so I figured they must not be as busy then. Good to hear. We didn't make it onto Goliath... the wait was 2 hours  Deja Vu wasn't open either. That was the 3rd time we've been since it was built and it is NEVER open :confused3 Kinda makes me scared to ride it.

Ok, food for today -
Breakfast - oatmeal, milk, entenmann's choc. chip muffins
lunch - chicken sausage Jambalaya (Popeyes), biscuit :guilty: , corn
snack - Dunkin Donuts coffee w/ hazelnut flavor
Dinner - Red Lobster grilled shrimp, mashed potatos, caeser salad, biscuit  (couldn't resist the biscuit, Yum!)
Totals - cal - 1653, fat - 69 :rolleyes1 calories weren't terrible, but fat is doing me in.

Exercise - :cheer2: I did 63 minutes on the treadmill today. I ended up w/ a total of 3.75 miles. I started w/ 6 minutes of walking, then I started my 1 minute jogging intervals. I kept to 3 minutes in between. When I jogged though, I went 4.7 mph rather than the 4.5 I had done in the past. I was determined to do at least 3 miles and keep up my intervals throughout rather than quit at 6 or 8. Well, when I got to the 9th interval I decided to just keep going for longer and ended up jogging for 2 minutes :woohoo: I felt really good that I made it that long after so many jogs and at the 42 minute mark. Then I was at 46 minutes and almost finished w/ the 3rd mile so I did one last jog and ended the 3rd mile at 47 minutes! :cheer2: :cheer2: My miles were 16:20, 15:30, & 15:10 :cool1: :woohoo: I almost hit a 15 minute mile ! :woohoo: (can you tell I'm excited!) Then once I hit the 3rd mile I slowed my walking down some and just walked for the last 16 minutes in a really long cool down. I also stopped a couple of times to stretch throughout the hour. It really helps me to not be sore later. I can even touch my toes now as an added benefit :teeth: So, the treadmill said that I burned like 500 calories, but fitday only says 377  I like the treadmill better ;)

Gonna crash now! I didn't sleep too well last night, but I bet I sleep like a rock tonight!

Today -
Breakfast - gas station cappuccino, Snicker Marathon Bar
Lunch - salad, popcorn
Snack - 1 mini Mr. Goodbar, 1 choc. DumDum
Dinner - chicken K-bob, belgian fries
Totals - cal - 1237, fat - 51

After class I walked into downtown to eat dinner. I had been wanting to try this restaurant, Achim's K-Bob. It was pretty good. It is about 1.3 miles from my hotel. I didn't walk really fast there or back. Walking back after eating was not the best idea. I was full and it made it less comfortable. Plus the whole way there was downhill, so the whole way back was Uphill. I made it though. :teeth: It was 30 minutes there and 30 minutes back. I also walked around the parking lot some during our class breaks today. I will count a total of 65 minutes for today.

I am struggling a bit with class this week. I think I'm a little burnt out on the whole sit in class and listen thing. And our instructor moves slowly and is a bit boring. It has been a rough 2 days and there are still 3 left

Today during lunch I bought some salad mix, popcorn, soup, and a lean cuisine. I plan to eat my lunch in the hotel tomorrow and thursday. I think that is the easiest way to avoid fast food and all the extra fat. I will still eat out for dinner, but I will try to be careful about my selections. I haven't done too bad on calories today, but fat is still a bit of an issue.

Have a good evening guys! :sunny:

Don't fool yourself, Amber. You're doing GREAT for eating out & being away.

Hope you have a good rest of the week!

WAY TO GO!!! :cheer2: :woohoo: Impressive the way you kept quickening the minutes per mile pace, that's very tough to do and you did it!! That along with your 65 minutes yesterday is really great! Way to get the week started on the right foot..you are doing awesome!

Went to Six Flags a few Sundays ago and rode Goliath twice, Mindbender twice, Deja Vu (shocked that it was running), Batman and Superman all before noon...Park was empty!

Amber - for being out of town, you are really sticking to your guns! Great job on the the exercise and getting salads and such for the rest of the week!

Keep up the great work....the pounds are probably melting off you!!

Thanks guys! :sunny: I have been feeling pretty good this week and proud of myself, too! I did good on my exercise today, but we went out as a big group from class tonight. I decided to just eat and enjoy w/out worrying about the diet tonight. :rolleyes1

Breakfast - cappuccino, maple n brown sugar granola bar, v-8 splash
Lunch - salad, vegetable soup, coke
snack - 1 smarties, 1 tootsie roll, 1 dumdum ( I got snacky during class)
Dinner - cheese fries :teeth: buffalo chicken fingers, a couple of bites of mashed potatoes ( I ate a bunch of the fries & filled up, I saved about 1/2 of the chicken fingers & most of the mashed potatoes for lunch tomorrow) Also 1 large margarita
Don't know my totals yet... I will try to add it up and post tomorrow.

Exercise - We got together late so I was able to get in some time on the treadmill today! :cheer2: Today was my jogging day. I was determined to try to step it up some today. I started w/ a 4.5 minute warmup then I reset the treadmill so that I could get a better feel for the speed of my miles w/out the warmup walking. I did 2 minutes of walking (to make Sure I was warmed up) then I jogged for 2 minutes at 4.7 :yay: then I went to a walk 3/ jog 2 interval on the next 2 intervals. At that point I was struggling to keep up the pace, So on the next one I cut it back to 1.5 minutes of jogging. I finished out w/ 2 more 1.5 minute jogging intervals and then did my cool down. So I ended up w/ 3- 2 minute jogs & 3- 1.5 minute jogs :cheer2: My times were 15:05 for the first mile :woohoo: :woohoo: and 15:15 for the second mile! :woohoo: :cheer2: (BTW, Scott I now Totally get why you were disappointed about missing your mark on the 5k by 12 seconds! I was like MAN I could have hit 15 minutes!) My total time w/ the warm up and cool down was 40 minutes and total distance was 2.5 miles :cheer2:

I feel like I have been stuck on my running routine for a long time. I knew that I needed to increase my time, but I didn't feel like I was doing that great at the one minute intervals. So I was afraid to push myself too hard. I am glad that I finally decided to go for it. I just have to remember this when I get home and have to run extra in the "real world" :teeth:

I usually try not to jog 2 days in a row, because I tend to be sore when I do. But when I have such good days and access to the treadmill, it makes me want to jog again tomorrow. I know that I will at least walk on the treadmill tomorrow. I may do some light jogging too. It will depend on how I feel.

Gotta get ready to hit the sack, it's been a Long day! Have a good night! :sunny:

Today -
breakfast - cappuccino, snickers marathon bar (those things are Yummy!)
lunch - leftover chicken strips, mashed potatos
snack - reese's cup, the small ones
dinner - caesar salad, bread, lasagna (I only ate a little of the lasagna, I will have the rest for lunch tomorrow)
Totals- cal - 1407, fat - 60

Exercise - I did the treadmill again, but I was feeling yesterday's exercise big time. I didn't have a lot of time (or so I thought) cause we were planning to get another group together to go out tonight. After warming up I did one minute of jogging, but I felt it too strongly in my calves, so I decided to just walk. I ended up doing 20 minutes which was just under 1.25 miles. I just was Really lacking in energy today and my calves were super tight today. After the treadmill I got in the hot tub for about 10 or 15 minutes :sunny: I  hot tubs!

I am really tired tonight and wasn't really sure if I wanted to go out w/ the group again. I have been in a kind of wierd mood tonight and just kind of wanted to be alone. There wasn't much committment from anyone about getting together and by 6:15 I had not heard anything. I went to try to find some of my classmates and wasn't successful in finding any that were going. So I went by myself, which really suited me just fine! While I was out, one of the girls called me (the one I went out and got drunk w/ last time) at 7:15 and said she was ready to go to dinner! :confused3 I told her I was sorry but I gave up on them and went out on my own. Afterwards I felt a little bit bad that I didn't go hang out w/ the others, but I just needed some down time. I was really struggling in class today, because for some reason they were just working my nerves. They weren't trying to and they didn't really do anything in particular. I think that I just needed a break from all of the extra people. I used to really love to be w/ friends all the time and never stayed at home, but I have become more of a loner, homebody as I get older I guess.

Well, I guess that is it, I am starting to ramble now, so that probably means it is time to call it a night. See ya'll tomorrow!

Amber, you are doing great being away from home. I can never stay focused when I am on the road. Hopefully your training classes will be over soon and you can get settled in a normal routine. That works wonders for me when I can do it.

Have a great weekend!

:hippie:

I've not really been busy, just lazy this weekend. Haven't really felt like sitting at my computer a whole lot.

Friday -

Breakfast - raisin bran w/ milk, chocolate muffin thing, cappuccino
Lunch - Mondo Burritto (vegetarian from the Grit)
Snack - mini chocolate chip cookies :rolleyes1
Dinner - cheeseburger, fries, ranch dressing

Exercise - about 5 minutes of walking during breaks in class.

I am SO glad to be done w/ training for the moment. :cool1: I know that I have to do at least 1 more week, but I am still not signed up yet.

Saturday -

Lunch - leftover lasagna & burrito (split it w/ DH)
Dinner - turkey & veggies w/ pasta (something new DH created), w/ roasted carrots
Snack - chocolate rice cake, cheddar sun chips

No exercise. I was lazy mostly. I also spent part of the day watching my 10 year old cousin in a beauty pagent. She didn't win and was pretty disappointed. I hate those things. There were 17 girls and only 5 places, so most of them are going to lose. They know that ahead of time, but still take it really hard.

Today -
Lunch - chicken & cheese pasta dish, squash casserole, vegetarian shepard's pie (sis made it), garlic bread, fried zucchini, sugar free/ fat free chocolate pudding
Dinner - Rosemary Chicken and potatos

Exercise - 10 minutes of walking.

My sister and I planted a small flower garden for my mom today for her mother's day present. :rose: It was sprinkling when we started and when we got to the last 4 or 5 plants it started to pour. We finished, but we were soaking wet and pretty muddy by the end. :teeth: Mom & dad came home from church while we were in the middle of it and "caught" us. Mom was excited anyway. She always wants that garden spot planted, but she has a very Black thumb. We agreed that we will help her keep them alive, esp. my sis since she lives there. It was fun and a good idea. My sis came up w/ it and I was glad cause I had not been able to come up with anything.

We had a nice lunch with everybody. My cousin came over later w/ 2 of her girls and they wanted to go visit my grandma's best friend, Jean, who has been like another grandmother to all of us. She never had any kids of her own and she lives in a nursing home now. We went to see her for about an hour this afternoon. She was really glad to see us and she was doing a lot better this time than she has been in the past. She has some memory problems and she is almost blind, so sometimes it is Very sad to see her. Today was a good day for her though. :sunny:

Dh cooked dinner while I was gone visiting. We walked for the 10 minutes while it finished baking.

I will do better on my exercise during the week this week. The weekend was busier than usual and I just never made the time to get out there and do it. I plan to jog tomorrow! Also, I have not done my food journal on Fitday since thursday. I have written it down here, but not added it up there. I will get back on track with that tomorrow. I know that it helps me alot.

Have a good week! :hippie:
