Amazing Race 11 - All Stars (begins 2/18/07)

Just a question, wasn't there a plane held for Romber in the other AR that they were in? I believe I saw that in one of the current AR episodes. If that is the case, then Uchenna and Joyce weren't the only ones given favors. In fact, I believe a number of teams have had planes held for them.

Didn't Uchenna and Joyce say in the first episode of this AR that they have had no success at having children since the last AR that they were in? That would explain why she hasn't gotten pregnant.

With Rob and Amber, they were allowed to board a flight that was already closed to boarding. Alot of posters cried foul on that one, but it has happened several times since with other teams where first they are denied, and then the next thing they are begging and pleading and are allowed to board.

With Uchenna and Joyce, not only was the flight closed, but the plane had pulled away. They actually brought the aircraft back to the gate for them. I don't believe that had happened before, or since. Bringing the plane back to pick up passengers is virtually unheard of, so most people (myself included) believe that the producers manipulated that in order to make the race to the finish line a race at all.

Actually, another side of the story for U&J is that the ticket agent lied to them at the request of Romber, (the asking to lie was on tape and we saw it on TV during the show). Romber asked the gate agent to lie to U&J about the flight being closed/already departed. Then the agent lied to U&J when they got to the counter (we also saw this during the regular show). Well, U&J decided to go to the gate anyway and see for themselves (perhaps they had a feeling that they were being lied to?) that the plane had already departed. When they got there, the plane had not yet departed but had pulled away/or still was just backing up (I don't recall exactly but it was still close to the parking spot). U said that the part that got cut from the tape is him yelling that the ticket counter agent had LIED TO US AND SAID THAT THE PLANE had already departed! He said that he made such a ruckus that they brought the plane back to the gate. Now, we just don't know who is exactly right here... IMHO

Also, I have had a friend have an airplane come back to the gate for her after it already pulled away as it was the last flight available to her to get home for the weekend. She made such a fuss they did it. This was about 10 years ago, but still, they did it. It is not unhead of IMHO.

I wonder how they got from the ticket counter, through security, and to the gate without a boarding pass?

Were they in the US when this happened? I've never traveled outside the country but maybe other places are not as strict as others.

I would think it would be stricter if it were international and they were trying to get back into the US. I could be wrong though

That is one reason why I no longer care for U & J. In their first AR, they were portrayed as being so upset over fertility problems and then they had the one leg at that orphanage, I think in Africa, and they were so overcome w/ emotion. (hope I'm remembering this correctly, although I'm sure someone will set me straight if not).

Then they win, come back to the US, and the first time I see them, Joyce is trying to revive her "acting career". I've been put off with them ever since.

That is one reason I always liked Rombar, they are right up front with what they want, and what they'll do to get it. I hated to see them go as well.

What's wrong with wanting a family and a career?:confused3 After they won the first time, they tried concieve but it didn't work.

Yes, I recall them saying the procedure they went through did not work.:sad1:

I can see what you are saying. It is too bad they didn't take their million dollars, go to an orphanage and adopt a child that needs a home.

Wow:snooty:

Do you feel this way about everyone or just U&J? If so, then I'm sure you're 100% against R&A conceiving a child of their own.

I am reasonably confident that Albertan Mom's comments were based on the comments that U & J made AT THE ORPHANAGE they visited during the race. They were so moved that they had some kind of ephinany, if you will. It just seems odd that before they won the first time, they were all about having a baby, adopting a baby, etc. That, and to "fix their marriage" were the reasons they wanted to race to begin with. AFTER they had their life changing moment at the orphanage, and won the race, they apparently decided against adopting and became motivational speakers while Joyce revives her acting career. Oh, and they are back this time to "fix their marriage" again. If they have to keep going to such extremes to save their marriage, maybe it's time to call it quits.

I don't wish infertility or marriage trouble on anyone, but I don't really care too much for Uchenna and Joyce.

WOW!!
No, I am not against R&A having a baby. Why would you jump to that conclusion?

Yes, this is exactly what I meant. (thanks for backing me!)

In the orphanage, they were saying how they would come back and get a baby, if they couldn't conceive. Well, they are obviously still not able to, so they should stick to that plan, and adopt a poor, lonely baby.

If I remember correctly, they had a boarding pass...just for a different flight. They were trying to get on to that one because it left sooner but they did have another one arranged already. So I would guess they showed the passes they already had to get through security.

Maybe U & J gave some money to that orphanage. We don't know what they're doing with their money. And maybe they're still in the process of adopting or maybe they can't for some reason.

or maybe they realized it wouldnt be smart to bring a child into a failing marriage.....a child is not a fix by any means

U & J did have 2 failed invitro attempts, they mantioned this in the first episode. In an interview I read they said it's a huge stress on their relationship so they set the baby plans aside for awhile to concentrate on their marriage.

Wise decision. A baby is not a 'fix' for a troubled marriage. Kids add more stress!!

So I just read from first post to last.

WOW You guys either love 'Em or Hate 'Em !!! <G> :rotfl:

I get alot of enjoyment from some teams over others but I have watched every episode because I like the race itself.

But with all you guys giving who you want out or to win..... I want Team CHAACHAACHAA To win !!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks too , for the link to the Elimination videos. Love those too!

Why or why could the non-elimination week not have been last week????????

S&M coming in first??????????? Crap I'd love to have seen them with the 30min penalty for next week instead of U&J.

The Cha's chasing Phil was classic! :happytv:
