Amazing Race 11 - All Stars (begins 2/18/07)

OK Charla on the Heelies and the butt cam were hysterical!!!!! :happytv:
I thought teams were only allowed to use the fast forward once per race???
I thought so too. It has ALWAYS been that way. But Phil didn't say anything about it. That kind of ticks me off. Why would they change that rule all of a sudden? :confused3
One question - for next week the previews talked about a "yield" ... what's a yield? Is it good or bad?
A Yield is a new part of the game that started only a few seasons ago. When you arrive at the Yield, you can cause any team that is behind you to stop playing for a certain amount of time (it's never been specified). Only one team can do this. Once someone does it, no one else can do it for the rest of that leg. I've never liked it as it's screwing with someone else's game. It's only been used a few times. Most people choose not to use it. Last week Dustin and Kandace used it on Eric and Danielle.

What do you all think of D/O and C/M going to the back offices of the airlines? It didn't even look like a place where they would be allowed. And when the one guy told them to go up to the desk, that ticked me off that they made him stay.

Charla and Myrna's fake accents have annoyed me all along but tonight it put me over the edge. Those two have got to go. Also if Myrna calls another person "my friend" I will go crazy.

I reallly hope Danny and Oswald or the Beauty Queens win.

The yields are used quite a bit in the last few seasons. I know Rob and Amber used one in season 7, but I can't remember if the other one was used. I know that in season 8 the Weavers were yielded both times. Season 9 both yields were used (one by Lake and Michelle and the other by the Hippies). Season 10 I think both yields were used, but I can't be sure.

The thing about the yield is that you have to use it when it is most advantageous. It seems that some teams yield people for petty reasons that don't have anything to do with where they are in the game. The Weavers were yielded both times because all the other teams strongly disliked them. The Hippies used the Yield on Mojo because they thought that Mojo had canceled the cabs, but it was really Eric and Jeremy. But then again the Hippies knew that Mojo would have yielded them. Now that I'm thinking about it, I think the BQs used a yield last time on Alabama just because they didn't like them. And I think that was the leg where they were non-eliminated after they got lost on the way to the detour. You really have to be careful using the Yield, because it can cause other teams to dislike you and puts a big target on your back. It can also come back to haunt you. I think if the BQs aren't the first ones to the Yield they are going to be finding themselves yielded.

I thought Charla did an amazing job climbing up that scaffolding. That had to be tough, but you never really heard her complain about it. I think she does have a fairly good attitude when it comes to the challenges like that.

I would have been terrified doing that fast forward. :scared1:

Did they ever say what the Gnomes were for? Or do they just have to have a Gnome.

I didn't realize if they were part of a combined team that used the Fast Forward, they were able to use it again. It has always been one Fast Forward. Also, why didn't Charla and Mirna and Eric and Danielle receive a penalty for not walking to their task last week:confused3 I guess the producers never caught on, but that just bugs me.

Having said all that, I'm really happy the ChaChas came in first. I really hope they can win. It was pretty funny that they had just enough money to finish, really dumb move on his part to buy all the papers.

I also got a kick out of the Heelies. I wonder if she has had them this whole time or just got them this past leg. I'm sure it will really help them out.

I just want to know why the BQ's think everything they do is okay but nobody else can do the same? I just can't stand them, and keep wishing for them to go home.

I thought C & M were too darn funny tonight. I can't stand their fake accent but they really got along and looked like they had fun this show.

GO CHA CHA's

Now that I'm thinking about it, I think the BQs used a yield last time on Alabama just because they didn't like them.

BQs used the Yield against 'Bama b/c BQ was the third of 4 teams to arrive at the Yield and the first 2 didn't use it and they thought it was strategic to put the most time between themselves and the last team. I think no matter which team was 4th, the BQs would have used the Yield on them. I think 'Bama disliked the BQs more than the BQs disliked 'Bama.

I really don't get the people that get upset over a team actually using the Yield. It's part of the game! A game with a pretty large prize at the end for the winner.

It's like somebody getting upset that a team used the Fast Forward.

As for the Fast Forward, once again I'm pretty shocked that the FF challenge was so lame. They used to be pretty hard, or a least something that was quite a sacrafice. As for D&O usign it again, I suspect they don't count them having to do it with the other team. IMO that's fair.

I can not stand Eric, didn't like him the last time he was on and don't like him now!!!!

I would rather see C/M win then E/D win!!!! Ugh

Well all my favorites are gone and now I'm routing for Charla and Mirna.

I agree. I feel like saying, get over it already!

I also don't understand why Mirna and Schmirna didn't get a 30 minute penalty for not taking the Star Ferry to HK Island. They took a taxi there, then took the wrong ferry to somewhere else, then got back to HK island, but unless I'm mistaken, they never took the Star Ferry.

The way I understand it...

The taxi took them through a tunnel to HK Island and they took the Star Ferry back to another destination, and then of course stayed on the ferry and headed back to HK Island. They did take the ferry, but they didn't do it the way the clue stated. IMO they should have had to return to where they were supposed to do things correctly and start over.

The taxi took them to HK Island. They got on the ferry and rode it back to where they were originally supposed to board. They stayed on and rode back to HK Island. So they actually did take the ferry like they were supposed to. They just got to the original dock by ferry. Make sense?

How are you sure the ferry took them to where they were supposed ot board in the first place? It's possible, but it sounded like it took them somewhere else entirely, but they did take it back to HK Island.

The ferry was going back to Kowloon. That is where they were originally supposed to catch the Star Ferry. They were on the right ferry, they just did a round trip.

ETA: I just checked the episode recap on cbs.com. And it confirms what I wrote.

I think the race would be more interesting if they were not allowed to pay taxi cabs to drive and they follow to where they need to be. It should be that they have to navigate on their own. Stop and ask questions but not be allowed to follow. :confused3
