Amazing Race 11 - All Stars (begins 2/18/07)

Be honest now, was I the only one cracking up when they showed Charla being dragged by the horse and then tipping over, face first???:rotfl: :lmao:

Last night's elimination station video was interesting. When Teri and Ian arrived Ian had some pretty negative things to say about Danny and Oswald. He said that "they had no character or honor".

"A disgruntled Ian revealed that he believes that Danny and Oswald are ruthless racers with no character, saying that when he worked with them in Ushuaia to book flights, they deliberately booked him a different flight and did not confirm it. He says that the same thing happened when Eric and Danielle worked with Danny and Oswald in Maputo; both of these incidents were not shown on the show."(from wikipedia)

I wonder why CBS chose not to air that part of the race.

Here is a link to that video:

In one of the insider videos it actually shows Danny and Oswald quite upset about Ian accusing them of this. I don't think it was Danny and Oswalds fault but the travel agent had messed up. (I read about this and haven't actually gone and watched the vid at cbs.)

And if this event actually did happen, well...that sucks for whoever it happened to. They should have worked on their own to know exactly what they were doing. It's a race.

Does the 12 hours for the pit stop start as soon as you check in? If so, it would seem that the front running teams would be getting ready to leave when the guidos and terri and ian were arriving.

I remember reading on TWoP that sometimes the pit stops are 36 hours for logistical reasons.

There was a video on the CBS site from last week's episode where Oswald and Danny talked about how hurt they were that Ian (in particular) accused them of making the mistake on his team's tickets on purpose.

DH is showing a new show next Sunday. That's what I thought when they said TAR was 2 hours. Confirmed it at the end of DH during the previews of next week.
Actually, I don't think it's a new show, I think it's a recap episode of what has happened up to this point. I think it starts with new shows again on April 8th.

Nope, it's a new show - according to TV Guide, legs 7 and 8 will air April 1 (and that's no joke ;))

BTW - I am so happy I found this thread! Those idiotic accents are killing me! They make Shmeerna sound condescending.

My Dh and I laughed and laughed and then watched it again!:rotfl2:

I think my favorite part was when Donny and Oswald were getting into their vehicles at the start of the episode and were doing a Santino imitation of Tim from Project Runway when they learned that the driver's name was Andre. :lmao:
That was definitely the funniest part of the show! I was cracking up.

I think it's a little boring when the teams are as spread out as they were last night, because they have no chance of catching up to each other, and the people in last place are kind of doomed from the start. It was sad that essentially what did Teri and Ian in was waiting in line with the Guidos instead of going upstairs with the other teams before the ticket office opened. It seems like usually the teams that get eliminated make several little mistakes, but basically that one decision put them too far behind to catch up.

I actually didn't find Charla and Mirna as annoying as usual last night. Maybe because they were in the lead for the whole leg so they weren't as stressed out.:confused3

As much as I don't care for Schmirna, I am glad they won this leg. They deserved to. They were the only team with the guts to try the other plane. And I think production totally stopped them at the ferry to keep them from getting to far ahead. There wasn't a storm coming! I didn't like the three hour difference between ferry boats. That gave too much of a lead and, if there had not have been the plane troubles, would not have been much of a race to the finish line - kinda like last night! the only thing that would have been better would have been if Eric and Danielle were bumped for another team!

It will be interesting to see if the Guidos can catch up, but I think that is highly unlikely. I was sorry to see Ian and Terry go, he was so likable this time around. I guess he learned from his mistakes;)

Charla and Mirna coming in first, yet again.:rolleyes1, but I did enjoy their reactions to winning the catamarans. I just hope they don't win.

I nover notice the Chmirna accents. I too busy being shocked by the rude things that come out of their mouths.

I do have to give them credit on this last leg though. Taking that first flight turned out to be a very good move. Mirna also did very well at the challenges.

My DH was very surprised that it worked out so well for them. He has flown out of the J'berg airport and he said that it is always a zoo!

I admit, I was :rotfl2:

I wanted to subscribe to this thread and comment on Charla and Mirna.....I almost died from laughing when they showed the previews and Charla fell right on her face!!!!!:rotfl2:
I LOVE Cha Chas.....they are hilarious. I haven't felt like reading too far back on this post but does anyone remember the check point in the episode 2 weeks ago and there was a "little person" standing with Phil? Well Danny blurts out as he's running to the mat....Ooohhh Charla's gonna be in love!!!!!:lmao: I loved that!!!!!!
I seriously didn't even want to watch the show anymore when Rob & Amber got the boot! :sad2: But Cha Chas keep me interested.

I am still cheering on the beauty queens. They seem to be making bigger mistakes than last season. BUT no matter what they still remain cheerfull and don't yell at each other. I love that.:goodvibes

He was likable this time! And I thought it was really sweet what he said at the end. :)

I thought their reactions to winning the catamarans was priceless! One second they are jumping for joy and then as soon as Phil said that, they both just get this totally puzzled look on their faces! :lmao:

DH and I said the same thing. I think it was done just to keep them there and keep them from getting too far ahead.
Which is fine, I guess. I mean it's not much of a race if one team is really, really far ahead. It just makes me wonder what else they "fix" so to speak.

Still love the show no matter what! And I think Danny and Oswald are so funny and hope they win! :yay:

I saw Ian on the Early Show this morning. He said they were trying really hard to get a flight out of Maputo, but there was some religious pilgrimage going on and there were about 10,000 people at the airport (or something like that).

Back in the first couple seasons of AR, the teams often were hours and hours apart. And taking a flight to an airport where there was no guarantee of a flight (like Charla and Mirna did) often backfired. In one particular season (can't remember which), the team got stranded in Australia and when they finally got to the clue box in Hawaii, they found out the race was already over.

I think it was team Guido...only for some reason I thought it was Alaska?

I think it happened twice. In Season 1 Team Guido won the fast forward. So they thought they had tons of time to get to the pit stop and stopped at a hotel for a while then took a slow train. They would have been eliminated except Emily and her mom didn't do a task right and got a huge penalty, so they were eliminated. But the Guidos were still way behind and yes they were in Alaska when they found out the race was finished.

I vaguely remember the second time that happened to someone. I want to say they were two young men. It wasn't season two I know. I'm pretty sure it wasn't three either. It was probably season four.

It was a team of two young men...I just can't remember who they were and am too lazy to go research it. :rolleyes1

I know twice Phil has gone to the roadblock to eliminate a team. The one was where the girl had to unroll the bales of hay to find a clue. The other was a team of two guys, I almost want to say they were brothers and I think it was the season with Charla and Mirna and the Bowling Moms. Not sure if that is what you are remembering or a different situation.

It was the sisters from Utah, I love them BTW, and it was brothers (I think) when they were digging in the sand for something and the one guy's knees were soooo bad they brought out a chair for him to sit in and I think they quit because of his knees. PHil went to them because the one was ina world of hurt and I don't think he could have made it to the mat. The sisters were just so far behind and they were going to be eliminated anyway, and that is why Phil went to them in stead of waiting for the sisters at the mat.
