Amanda's Menu Planning Spectacular!

There is nothing worse than ordering something, hating it, leaving hungry AND having to pay for it! Sorry this happened to you. You sound like you are doing great with your workouts. :D

I wish our signatures were working! I weighed myself this morning and it said 150 lbs - even! Can you believe that? I want to try on that 15 lb clippie!! I don't know how real this is - it could just be a fluke but I am really hoping that it isn't. Although I have to say I am feeling fat but I think some of that has to do with the depression I've been feeling.

Plan for today:
B: Protein Bar - 4 carbs
L: Tuna Salad on Crackers - 11 carbs
S: Peach or Grapes
D: ??? Not sure yet - might be Heroin Wings since we haven't had those in awhile

Exercise: Walk 6 minutes and Run 4 minutes for 30 minutes.

Amanda, so sorry that your entree wasn't to your liking last night - no fun! :( It sounds like you found some yummy things to eat besides that - good for you!

Congratulations on the happy scale reading!! Drink lots of water and hopefully you'll get to keep that nice number AND see your new clippie when signatures are turned back on in a day or two! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Best wishes for a great workout! :sunny:

CONGRATULATIONS AMANDA!

You have worked really hard to get that clippie. We'll have another clippie party when the signatures come back up. I'm sorry that the entree wasn't very good. Have a great day/weekend.
Beth

Hi Amanda,
Woohoo! 15 pounds is awesome :jumping1: :cool1: ! Hope you have a wonderful Sunday  .

Was I suppose to be on a diet this weekend? Man did I blow it - and I did it big time.

Friday night - pizza
Saturday - Cheeseburgers and snacking all day long
Sunday - not bad for lunch and snacks, dinner was 2 cheeseburgers and some fries. Dessert - 2 pieces if key lime pie.

I hand my head in shame:(

So today my motto is flush flush flush! I've started drinking my water already and I am trying to ignore the tiny part of me craving a diet soda. I may have to get one at 10a.m. though.

B: 1/2 bagel and cream cheese (breakfast is being provided by work) and a protein bar.
L: Tuna Salad
D: ??? I am going grocery shopping after work today so it will be something out of all the stuff that I pick up.

I need to start working on my grocery list.

Exercise: Walking 5, Running 5 for 30 minutes

Hang in there Amanda! Climb back up on the wagon - I'm climbing back up myself too! This seems to be a chronic thing with me.

Take it one meal at a time. Oh, and please find a low-carb snack before you go to the store - shopping on an empty stomach can be disastrous!!

I'm sending you good thoughts today!

A Runner's Story:
It is the hottest day of the year in St. Louis. Tempartures are in the high 90's and the humidity is unforgiving. My husband and I waited until a little after 8p.m. to head to the track. With the sun almost being down it should help cool things off a bit. But the humidity was something awful. We brought sports drinks with electrolytes to help us get through this run. The track is surprising busy despite the heat although not many runners. Our plan tonight walk 5 minutes, run 5 minutes, walk 5 minutes, run 5 minutes and then cool down. We get out of the car and I can feel my sports bra already clinging to me with sweat. We begin to stretch and warm up. The first 5 minutes of walking we talk about work, and a book I've been reading and then the timer goes off. We both groan, we know what is coming - 5 minutes of running. We start off, at a pretty good place, job past a couple of walkers and keep going. It is hard to breathe tonight because of the humidity. I can't even breathe through my nose the air is so thick and moist. I keep looking straight ahead and ignore the burning sensation in my thighs and calves. The timer finally goes off again after we completed a half mile (in the 5 mintues). We go back to walking both of us having a hard time breathing.

We don't talk as much during this walk, we concentrate on stretching the neck and arm muscles and trying to keep up a good pace. We both comment on how dang hard it is to breathe. All to soon the timer goes off again, I wince. We start off but I have to slow down the pace almost immediately since I am having such a hard time breathing. I tell my husband to keep going and he runs ahead. I push myself and try to keep up a decent pace. With one minute left on the clock I have to stop I feel as though my lungs are burning from lack of air. Brian is about a half lap ahead of me. When the timer goes off he stops and stretches a bit - I take up a light jog to catch up with him. We both need to stop and get something to drink.

We head to our Sports Drinks and I start drinking really fast. Ah the cool liquid feels great going down and I am already starting to feel better. We sit for a minute and let our body regulate itself. There are still a lot of people on the track but I had forgotten all about them. We get up and start walking again. When the timer goes off I look at Brian and said, "You keep your pace and I'll keep mine." We take off I'm even with him for about a lap but then quickly fall behind. I keep telling myself over and over again - this is a big moment. If I can do this, it is all downhill from here. Just keep it steady and slow, steady and slow. I listen to my breathing which sounds horrible and to my feet hitting the track. Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right. Finally the timer goes off again and we can cool down. Brian is about a 1/4 of a lap ahead of me. I catch up to him - I am so proud of him for being able to do all 30 minutes without needing to stop and walk early. We finish our sports drinks (again feeling good) and jump in the car, roll the windows down and take off for home. The wind coming into the car feels so good that we don't want to stop at the stop light.

I get home and strip almost immediately and head to a luke warm shower to cool off. We had done 2.75 miles tonight - bring on Disney.

Good Morning Everyone! I wish I could say that I jumped back on the wagon yesterday but it was more like being dragged behind it. LOL! I am already doing much better today. Here is an honest recap from yesterday:

B: Protein Bar, Cinnamon Bagel w/Cream Cheese, 2 containers of Orange Juice
L: 3 bites of key lime pie. After the big breakfast I really wasn't hungry.
S: Bannana
D: ham, turkey, and cheese on a whole wheat english muffin and 2 of DH's bagel bites
Water: BAD! Only 3 glasses

Today's plan:
B: 1/2 english muffin (12 carbs) and Peanut Butter (2) = 14 carbs
L: I'm thinking either ham and cheese roll ups or left over pork chops and greenbeans
D: I have a 4 lb chicken in the crockpot that I massaged this morning in Ranch Dressing it will cook all day and be a wonderful 1 carb per serving. DH will have stuffing with it and I'll have veggies or a salad.
S: Sugar Free Jello

Exercise: Today is a rest day and after that last night (see previous post) I am grateful for it.

Hi Amanda!:wave2:

Wow! Congratulations on getting your running/walking in the other day! That is awesome!:Pinkbounc I have a hard time walking in humid weather yet alone running. Way to stick to it! (Pun intended;) )

Your menu for today sounds good, especially that chicken! ::yes:: Have a great day today, Amanda!:sunny:

Tracy:wave2:

Amanda, I am so proud of you!!! Your workout last night sounds like it was quite a challenge but obviously you were up to it and you showed that track who was boss!!! ::yes::

Congratulations!! You're a winner - but then I knew that already! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I was being dragged behind the wagon yesterday too! LOL! What a pair we are! Sounds like you've got a great plan for today. Crockpots rule!!! Let's both RIDE ON the wagon today instead of falling off and getting dragged behind, OK??? I'll give it a try if you will!! No EVM for me today!!

Woo-hoo Amanda - we're back on track!!! :sunny:

:sunny: Good morning, Amanda! :sunny:

Did you stay on the wagon yesterday?? I stayed away from the EVM but fell off a bit last evening. I'm going to try again today! I'm determined to stay on this wagon at least ONE WHOLE DAY! :teeth:

I hope you have a :sunny: day today!

Good Morning Doe! Like you I stayed away from the EVM but fell a little bit off the wagon last night.

Recap:
B: 1/2 english muffin w/ Peanut Butter (14 carbs)
L: Tuna Salad (2 carbs)
S: 1 Hersheys Kiss and a slice of Pepper Jack Cheese (2 carbs)
D: Chicken ( 2 carbs), Broccoli in Alfredo Sauce (?) and 1/4 cup of stuffing.
S: Piece of Key Lime Pie and large glass of milk

I increased my water to 6 glasses and stuck to diet soda for the day. I am not beating myself up over the milk because in all honesty I'm out of vitamins and I think my body needed the calcium. So not a horrible day but not perfect either.

Plan for today:
B: Fried egg (1 carbs), Slice of Cheese (2 carbs) on English Muffin (24 carbs) - 27 carbs
L: Leftover Chicken (1 carb) w/Cajun Cauliflower (I'll have to check the pkg I can't remember how many carbs are in Cauliflower)
S: Cheese
D: I'm going to make DH some tacos and I'll be having taco salad w/ no shell.

Exercise: Walk 5 and Run 5 for 30 minutes. I'll be having a sport drink tonight which is 12 carbs - but in all honesty with all the running I'll be doing - I don't think it counts

I've decided to increase the food intake a little bit today since we will be running - I am hoping that it will keep me from being absolutely starving tomorrow. Since I am starting to get overwhelmed w/things to do I am listing 3 goals today that I have to get done:

1) Make Sugar Free Jello - I keep saying I'm going to and then forget. And then about 8pm I get snacky and there is none there so I resort to unhealthy snacks.

2) Balance the Check book

3) Get password reactivated for a website I use to order sports nutrition.

~Amanda

Hi Amanda,

You are doing awesome on the running/walking. 5/5 is impressive. I think you are wise to increase your food on the exeercise days. I have some lime jello in the fridge right now for the very same reason.:p
Have a good run,
Beth

Augh. Ya know these runs are so blessed hard that when I am done I feel that I need to reward myself with a treat. So what do I do - eat ice cream. It is hard to find something to do for myself after the run because I am so tired from the run and hot that I really don't want to paint my nails or take a hot bath - I just want to put calories in my body so that I feel better. This is becoming destructive, and I'm not sure how to handle it. Maybe I need to keep some low carb fudge bars on hand to reward myself.

The run last night was a lot better then Monday but still really really hard. Mother Nature decided to give us a break on the humdity so I didn't feel like I was straining to breathe at all. I was able to continue running the entire 5 minutes every time but I was a lot slower then my hubby. But I figure I need to just worry about my pace and straining myself to keep up with him is just going to end up with me hurting something. Those sports drinks are a lifesaver and really do help me in the recovery period of my workout.

Something strange is happening with my body. I am watching my legs get leaner and my upper body is getting leaner but my lower abdomen and hips seem to be clinging to their extra weight. So for the first time in my life I have a curve. I am usually almost completely up and down but at the moment my hips are about an inch wider then my waist. This is a first for me. I'm not sure how I feel about it because my body image is actually really bad right now - I'm not sure I like hips. Plus I just don't feel like I am getting anywhere - I'm running and walking like crazy and for the most part watching what I eat and yet my weight is still pivoting between 150 lbs to 155 lbs. I know that our exercise is building muscles though because my thighs are litterally telling me off everyday.

Okay - well that was a lot of information! Total recap from yesterday:
B: 1 egg, 1slice of cheese on English Muffin (27 carbs)
L: Chicken (1 carb) and Cauliflower in butter and cajun seasonings (3) = 4 carbs
S: 1 Hersheys Kiss
D: Chicken Ala Amanda - 3 carbs, and about a 1/2 cup of DH's hamburger helper?
S: 1/2 cup of Ben and Jerrys Ice Cream.

So see almost perfect except for the Ice Cream.

Today's Plan:
B: 2 scrambled Eggs, Salsa, and Sour Cream - 3 carbs
L: Either Tuna Salad or turkey and cheese on half an english muffin
S: ?
D: Hotdogs and Bratwurst without the buns, veggies, dh will have french fries
S: Sugar Free Jello

I only got 2 of my goals done yesterday - I still forgot to make the jello. Three goals today:
1) Clean kitchen up
2) Make Sugar Free Jello
3) try not to be annoyed with SIL who is coming over tonight for some reason but she won't tell me

~Amanda

I LOVE your third goal!! :p Seriously, dealing with difficult people in our lives can truly suck all our energy and you are right to acknowledge that! You see it coming, so try to make some jello. You're going to want to indulge in SOMETHING when she finally walks back out the door so it would be wise to have sf jello on hand! :teeth: You may want to meet her out somewhere, so that you can get up and leave if she's being a pain! :hyper:

Now, about that medicinal Ben & Jerry's last night......:p  . Your workouts are HARD! You SHOULD have some way to reward yourself when you get home and I can totally understand about food being the first thing to reach for, especially something cold and creamy after that hot workout! Could you indulge in some low-carb ice cream?? I've had some butter pecan that is sooooo good - doesn't TASTE low-carb at all.

It's interesting to hear you talk about how your body is reshaping itself. I'd LOVE to see my thighs get thinner - do you think that's from running?? Maybe I should think of incorporating some running into my walking regimen. Have you been taking your measurements? Forget about that scale and concentrate on how your clothes are fitting - I bet they are getting looser!!

Hang in there, Amanda! You are doing a GREAT job! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Doe,
no I don't take measurements but according to my clothes my thighs have gotten smaller, my arms are a lot smaller, and my chest is just a tiny bit smaller. My waist however is the same. *sigh*

Yes I think the walking/running is really helping with my thighs. My thighs have never been a problem area for me - they've always remained toned even when I wasn't working out. If you need to work on your thighs the best advice I can give is walk and squats.

~Amanda

Hi Amanda!

I'm checking in with you to see how you are doing. What a great job on the exercise you are doing. Keep it up!!!! Your food plan looks good too. :wave2:

Good Morning. Last night wasn't bad at all w/my SIL so I really didn't have to worry about making it a goal. They wanted to show us the new car they bought. They finally bought a family car:rolleyes: .

I completed Goal 1 and 2 yesterday as well so that is good! I got rid of the ice cream in the house (by eating it) but for the most part I thought I did pretty well yesterday.

Recap:
B: 2 eggs scrambled w/salsa and sour cream
L: Tuna Salad on 1/2 of english muffin and a slice of cheese w/ glass of milk
S: Nothing
D: 1 sweet Italian Sausage link on a bun w/mustard. 1/2 cup cauliflower and butter and 4 french fries
S: Last of the ice cream - about a cup.

Today's plan:
B: Peanut Butter on 1/2 English Muffin and Coffee (18 carbs)
L: Subway Wrap (11 carbs)
D:??? Either Hardees or I'll cook hotdogs

We are going to my cousins tonight to pick up their golden lab/german shepard mix dog to come stay with us for a week while they are on vacation. It should be really interesting to see how my cats react to Sara who is a full 80 lbs! :) We watch her once a year because it helps me to remember I don't want a dog. But she is a great dog and loves me so it is always fun to have her for a week.

Exercise: Depending on how late we get back w/ Sara we may not workout tonight and will do it on Saturday.

~Amanda
