Amanda's Menu Planning Spectacular!

I hear you about a teacher's schedule......I always wish I was a teacher once summer and the holidays arrive. Those are our busy times at work and I always end up working alot. Hope your day is going ok.:D Good luck with the job search.

Hi Amanda,

Sorry to hear about the pizza nite as you were doing so well, but things like that happen:rolleyes: I did it last week but was worse and had the thick crusted sicilian pizza, 2 slices, still lost 1 lb but maybe it would have been 2, I'll never know.

Good luck on the job search - you should be happy in your job since you spend the majority of time there, right?

I'd love to know what the recipe is for the sausage & gr peps? I need variety to survive these cheat free days;)

****WARNING! WARNING! LONG DEPRESSING POST AHEAD: ****

Everything was going great until I got home last night. I had a really bad day at work, I am still a bit depressed over the whole "Your not thin" thing, and I was bored in the evening due to nothing to do. (Granted I could have cleaned my house but how much fun is that?). Dinner was Terrakyi Chicken and grilled Zucchini slices for me. I made the mistake of having a bite of DH's noodles and the next thing I know I am helping him to finish the pot. Augh. Then once that damage had been done I ate half a bag of popcorn, and then had ice cream.

WHY? Why do I feel the need to do this? I don't know how Lisa remains cheat free for 100 days when I can't even make it 7 days. :guilty: I couldn't even bring myself close to the scale to see the damage that has been done. I decided to wear some tighter fitting clothes today to remind me to be good because today is:

A Food Day two words that can send even the best dieter into an uncontrable binge. Which is why - I'm taking a half day today and getting out of here before the day gets into full swing.

Breakdown for today:
B: Protein Bar - 4 carbs
L: Salad that I brough and anything else that will be low carb.
D: ??? It is going to be an everyone fend for themselves night.

Exercise: Walk/Run 30 minutes

~Amanda

 Amanda,

Unfortunately, most of us are not as strong as Lisa. Most of us fall off the wagon occasionally. yesterday was your day, but you are back on track today. You are doing something to remove yourself from temptation, and you plan on exercising. Those are 2 major positives. Keep :drinking: :drinking: :drinking: :drinking:
Have a good weekend,
Beth

Amanda, don't be so hard on yourself. Today is a brand new day. Have a good one.:D

I can tell ya Beth - I am no where near as strong as Lisa - I didn't make it through yesterday either. I don't know what is wrong with me. I know the weekends are always harder but I didn't even make it through the week. I really don't know how people go being cheat free for so long and I know that my cheats are the reason that I have stayed between 153 and 155 lbs this whole time. If I want to get under the 153 I am going to have to get more serious. Maybe I need to reread my diet book and get back on track. I don't know - it seemed so easy when I started in January and now it seems like I am always chasing after the wagon.

Well I am off to start the day - I need to do some grocery shopping and then I have to clean up the bathrooms and straigthen out the house.

~Amanda

***********************************************
B: 2 scrambled Eggs
L: summer sausage, pepperjack cheese, & Mustard on whole wheat crackers
S: Grapes with Cream Cheese fruit dip
D: Crazy Bowls and Wrap - Wrap
S: Mini Snickers

30 minute walk/run 2 min run/8 min walk - 3 reps

Not a bad day but not a good one either. DH and I had the most relaxing day. After I went grocery shopping and he finished mowing the lawn we layed around all afternoon watching TV and napping on the couch. It was fantasically billiant! And just what we needed. At the moment we are broke so it was nice to stay in and just enjoy the day.

Amanda,

Hang in there. Maybe it is because your cycle is coming......cravings you know. It is really a hard thing to always stay OP and a few slips every once in a while is normal. Have a great day.:D

I've been reading this great book about survining your 20's with savy and style and this morning I read the chapter on Body Image. Wow! It really caused me to question some of the things that I have been doing to my body lately and to make me think differently in terms of body image. For one thing I am going to put my scale away for one month - it will not be making an appearance again until July 13th. Second I am going to concentrate more on the fact that I am doing great physically with my running/walking and that this might be contributing to my being more hungry lately. Also stress does cause the body to need more fuel and I have been under a lot of stress lately. So I'm taking a step back - and I am not going to be so obsessed with my body image. I'm going to concentrate on eating healthy and not beating myself up for the days when I'm more carby then others. I'm going to concentrate on my exercise routine and on being me.

It was really interesting because the books says to just concentrate on eating healthy meals with lots of veggies and good protein, workout 3 to 4 times a week during less stressful times, and when you are really stressed to exercise everyday. And I figure if I do this then maybe the weight will continue to come off.

So - I've got not real plan today.
B: Protein Shake
L: Hotdogs with cheesey brocolli
D: Going out to Outback steakhouse with my family for my brother's b-day.

Amanda,
That book does sound really good. If you don't mind, could you share the title with us? I have really been struggling with a lot of issues lately and it sounds like this book could help. ::yes::

Your plan sounds really good. ::yes:: I WISH you much success with it.

Have a great Monday!

Hi Amanda,

Looks like that book has helped you focus on what is important. You now have a plan. Good for you. How was Outback?
Take care,
Beth

Good Morning! It feels wonderful to not wake up in the morning and think - Oh lord what am I going to eat today. :) Outback was fabulous last night, I ordered the Shrimp which was really yummy! I'm a little on the bloated side today from all the carby foods so I'll be drinking lots of water this afternoon.

The book that I read is called:

The Go-Girl Guide : Surviving Your 20s with Savvy, Soul, and Style

See details here!

A lot of the book does talk about dating which I just skipped over those chapters but it also deals with careers, body image, relationships with family and friends, and money. It was really a great book and has prompted a lot of discussions with my husband and I.

Okay so my semi plan for today:
B: Protein Bar and WATER!
L: Tuna Fish Salad and WATER!
D: ????

I am going to meet a girlfriend of mine to pick up the bridesmaid dress for her wedding. I love this dress and cannot wait to try it on although I can wait to pay the balance of the bill :crazy2: and then her and I are going out to eat. I'm broke and she is unemployed so it will probably be Panera Bread or some place where we can split a meal :)

~Amanda

Thanks for the link and the title of the book, Amanda!:Pinkbounc I'm going to the library today to see if they have it. Enjoy your lunch with your friend. ::yes:: Have a great day!

Hi Amanda! just caught up a little on your journal. Sounds like you are feeling brighter and :sunny: this week. I like your new plan - less restrictive, but still healthy and good for you. As I said in my journal, summer is a time to relax and enjoy life a little in my book! So step back and reassess - maybe a little time off wouldn't be such a bad thing.
I also think this increased exercise is probably making you hungrier. All that running and walking is bound to require more energy!::yes::
Take good care of you Amanda!! You are SO worth it!!:smooth:

Hi Amanda,

You are absolutely right about the exercise increasing your hunger. I'm eating more in the last 2 weeks than previously. I am sure that is what is happening with you. You sound happier on this plan. That is awesome. Have fun with your friend.
Beth

Amanda, I'm happy to hear about your new plan! I think you are awfully hard on yourself sometimes, but you do so many good things for you!! Hang in there, relax, and concentrate on doing healthy things for you. Glad that scale will NOT be an issue for a while!

Enjoy your time with your friend!

Amanda,

Thanks for the link. You sound happier today and not as hard on yourself. I am glad. Take care.:D

Even notice when you take the pressure off you tend to eat everything in sight? Just me then? Okay! Yesterday wasn't bad - it wasn't great either. B: Protein Bar, L: Tuna Salad, D: thin crust pizza and one vodka and sprite drink with my friend. I drank 6 glasses of water. I didn't get home in time to do our walk/run so we will have to catch up later in the week.

As far as the bridesmaid dress that I had to try on - I LOVE it! I look fabulous in it if I do say so myself. :smooth: And it was such a confidence builder that hey - I look good! It made me feel so good that I came home and surprised DH :love2: :cloud9: :love2:

Today's plan:
I'm almost done with my 3rd cup of water!
B: Grapes - yummy!
L: Salad
D: ??? We have a business meeting tonight so dinner will have to be something simple and perhaps on the go.

No exercise tonight as there isn't enough time.

~Amanda

Hi Amanda,

I'm so glad that you like the dress and had a good time with your friend. It seems to me that :love2: can count as exercise.

Amanda, I have enjoyed reading your journal. You have taken some very positive steps towards making your life healthier - both physically and emotionally. I think you should be very proud of yourself. Btw, I'm so glad you love the dress! I bet you will be beautiful in it! :D
