We rode it last summer and I swore I would NEVER do it again. I have visions of one of my kids leaning a little too far and SPLAT!!!!
I can't believe nobody has fallen from up there!:earseek:

I'm too affraid to try, so I guess that's yes!!!

Heck, when I'm all the way to the top (walked up the stairs, of course) I can't even go near the railing to watch those nuts go down the body slide at 100 miles an hour. If I do I start to shake with fear! :scared1:

You mean there's no way the kids can be belted in? Can they at least take stairs in lieu of the ski lift?

Castillo Mom,
Yes there are stairs! And you can bet I'll be using them this year!:D

 I saw lightning strike a "sky ride" as a child - a car fell and one was dangling. The people had to stay up there and be rescued by a swinging ladder from a helicopter. No Thanks. I really want to try skiing, but I don't think I'll ever be able to! We REALLY like TL!!!

I agree completely! IMHO, the chair lift at BB is the scariest ride in all of WDW. We rode it up on our first trip to the top of the mountain and my entire family refused to ride it again. It's a long walk up to the top, but it's worth it to avoid the chair lift!

if i remember correctly, the ski lift at blizzard beach has a lap bar that comes down to keep you in the seat...now that doesn't mean if someone did enough dancing they couldn't get out of it and fall but you would have to go out of your way to do it...i wouldn't think twice about riding the ski lift up...if the line isn't too bad, it beats the climb up the stairs...
have fun!!!!

When I did the ski lift, I wasn't the quickest person in the world, either getting on or getting off. I wound up with some pretty good bruises on the back of my legs from getting hit by the chair. I'd take the stairs if I decided to go back up.

I am very very afraid, bring on the coasters long before I would ride this! I'm also afraid of BB in general. Went down a slide there two years ago and ended up scared for life. Our tube flipped up over the side landing me smack face first on the concrete side and busting my eye wide open... ouch! Have not been on a water slide since... :sad1:

Last summer we were stuck on the ski lift! I'm sure it wasn't really the hour it felt like, but we had some little boy with us that I didn't know and it seemed to me that he could easily have slipped out if he squirmed at all. Plus my 3 kids were in the lift behind us and I was too terrified to turn around. (They are big kids, 21, 18, and 10 at the time) I prayed a lot. This year we are going to TL instead of BB. I don't even want to see that lift again and the stairs are not an option for my knees.

This ride scares me too. First time I rode with my kids, I had DD2 with me and DH had DS5 with him. I was upset with DH for not making DS keep his back against the seat, he allowed him to lean forward and look around  , I could barely breathe. As the lift climbs over the rocks at the top, I cross fingers that we don't fall out on them. Most scary ride in WDW for me, thrilling for the kids who are 4 and 7 now.

At least you were stuck on a lift at Blizzard Beach and not on the side of a mountain in the winter-been there done that one. I wouldn't hesitate taking the lift there, it's no different taking my daughter on that (she's 7) than it is taking her on the lift to go skiing.

I don't want to over react but, I can't believe they would have such a thing at WDW, or any other theme park for that matter. I mean, we're talking about kids here, even if they're older.

In reference to the comparison to "real" ski lifts, I'm a big enough chicken that I have no plans to go skiing either because of the lifts. Also when stuck on the lift at BB I felt even more exposed since I was wearing a damp bikini and no shoes!!

I can't even imagine the panic that would have set in if it had stopped!!!!:earseek:

We were stuck on it for about 1/2 hour. I was with my 5 year old grandson and my daughter was up ahead with the 8 year old. I don't like lifts to begin with, and after about 5 minutes of "fun" watching people come down that steep slide, I was ready to go. But we sat and sat. Never again. My kids live in Vail, CO and are used to going on (and getting stuck on) lifts all the time. But my daughter said there's a world of psychological difference between being bundled up and going up over snow from the exposure you feel in a bathing suit over concrete.

Exactly my feelings. I remember trying not to look down and wondering if I fell if I'd hit concrete or if I might get lucky and have a tree break my fall.

Well...I'm intrigued now. Never been to BB - so is there a picture somewhere of this "chair lift of death"??? Does it have a lap bar or no?

This sounds like good nightmare material for me as I get vertigo on stuff like that! :scared1:

There is a lap bar, but it doesn't feel like it would hold a flea. Certainly wouldn't hold a wiggly 4 or 5 y.o. IMHO! *(but I am admittedly the panicky type!:faint:

I've felt the same way about the chair lift, and I'm glad other s feel the same way. We have a DS9, DD6,DS4, and we do BB on each trip. The chair lift does have a lap bar, but let me tell you I literally grab hold of kids' legs and arms while we are on the chair lift from the bottom of the hill to the top. It does seem very scary in that I would never let my kids go on it alone. I'd be afraid of them wiggling, or swirming around in their seats, and with a wet bathing suit, slip right on out of the chair. It's a lot easier taking the lift, than climbing stairs, but I use a lot of caution.
