Am I strange for being happy AND sad about our trip?

Okay I know this sounds strange but I feel both happy and sad. I am sooooo excited about our trip in 18 days (we had to cancel it last year due to me having brain surgery) yet sad to know that next month at this time the trip will only be a memory. The most fun part for me is the planning and anticipation of looking forward to it!! Anyone else like that, too, or am I alone on this one, lol??

You are definately not alone. That's one of the great things about the DIS knowing you are not alone is loving and obsessing over planning each trip, changing resorts and ADR's :rolleyes1 reading all the reviews it's so exciting and then the deep depression hits when it's all over.

Best advice is to start planning the next one even if it's not for a couple years :goodvibes

I hope you have a macigal trip filled with lots of pixiedust:

I do the same with every trip. I have a teenager that is losing interest in Disney fast, and I never know when she is going to just not want to go anymore, and wonder will this be the last one with all of us? Plus you just never know if "next" year will happen. We have gone every year for 10 years now, but it is always based on the tax return, so every time we go I am excited, but sad the planning and countdowns are over, and not sure when our next trip is...

Me too :( Half the fun of the trip is the planning. Right now I am currently washing and packing all our clothes, so much more fun that unpacking and washing them AFTER.

And just today I cancelled an ADR and made another in it's place. Ahh what am I going to do after I can stop the constant obsessing?

No you are not alone!! I so love to plan a vacation it adds to the excitement and makes the vacation experience last so much longer. But you are so correct when the vacation finally comes its over so quickly, and I don't like that one bit!!.

Our last trip, last March, was a new experience for me and my DW. It was our first trip without the kids, they both got married. Disney is very much different when you go as adults and don't have the responsibility of the kids.

Now I am sitting here and trying to decide whether March 2012 is a Disney vacation, with the free DP it's hard to say no.

We will see.
