Yes, you are being too old fashioned and no they don't even notice these things, and yes you are doing your daughter a disservice even commenting on this.

What I do worry about are teen and pre-teen girls who wear inappropriate clothes. No, I don't think anyone should be ashamed of their body, nor do I think they should flaunt it either. I think the way girls(and women) are portrayed in the entertainment industry is the biggest reason for low self-esteem among young girls. How often did you hear about anorexia or bulimia before these stars made it seem almost fashionable? And yes, I do put cartoon characters that children spend a lot of time watching in the same category as Hilary Duff, Lindsey Lohan and the rest. Feel free to criticize my beliefs, but don't ever say I'm doing my child a disservice by simply being concerned. If I didn't care, I wouldn't be a very good mother.
