Am I Crazy?

Just an update. I was able to get Pop Century for two nights and All-Star Sports for one night through Orbitz. Thanks mrzrich for the Promo Code! We are flying to avoid the cost of all the ground transportation and to save time. Now to get our tickets and get FPs. If I set up another MDE account, will I just use another email address and link our tickets to that one since I have tickets and family members on my main account and don't want conflicts?

You can, but seriously, you don't need to. You can add your intern to your existing account. I am planning 3 different trips, and they are all on the same account. There's no problem with that. If you are afraid that your magicband with try to use the ticket that you are saving for your future trip, you can temporarily remove that ticket from your magicband

I haven't even thought about Magic Bands. I have never booked a cash reservation through Orbitz so not sure how this works. Will we get Magic Bands sent to us. We are two weeks from our trip.

From the Disney website:

  • If you customize your MagicBand at least 11 days before you arrive at your Disney Resort hotel, it will be shipped to your home.
  • If you customize your MagicBand between 10 days and 6 days before you arrive at your Disney Resort hotel, you will receive it when you arrive at your Disney Resort hotel.
  • If you do not customize your MagicBand until 5 days or less before your arrival, you will receive a non-customized MagicBand when you arrive at your Disney Resort hotel.

How do you temporarily remove a ticket? I'm getting ready to buy our tickets online tonight. I want to make sure I'm doing all of this right. Also is there a way for her to see information about our trip on MDE but not see the information about the trip with my family?

My one big Orbitz tip, if you did not see it on the other board that is linked above, is when you do link the reservation to MDE and have it shipped to your home, you have to be sure to change the shipping address - it defaults to the Orbtiz corporate address since that is your travel agent. If you customize during the window where the bands will go to your resort, then you don't need to worry about that. Personally, I keep two different MDE accounts so I am not overlapping trips for the exact reason you mentioned about tickets being linked. You won't want to unlink your family trip tickets because then you will not be able to do the fastpasses for your family trip until you link the tickets again, and from your ticker it looks like your summer trip fastpass window opens up soon.

Thank you for the advice. I am 14 days out from my trip so I will be sure to change the shipping address. Also do I need to use a different email address for a second MDE account? I hadn't even thought about how unlinking my ticket would affect making FPs for my family trip which I will be doing in about a week. Thanks for helping me think about all the complications this overlapping can cause!

Yes, you will need a different email address to create a second account. I use my personal email for one account and work email for the other account. You could always just create a free google or yahoo email account if you need a second one.

Ok, got my second MDE account set up, tickets ordered, magic bands customized. Now I'm trying to book FastPasses. Here's what I will definitely book:
Epcot: Test Track, Spaceship Earth (Character Spot not available)
Magic Kingdom: ??? (I'm sure 7DMT is booked so will do that at rope drop.)
Animal Kingdom: Safari, Expedition Everest, DINOSAUR maybe (but I hate that ride!)--definitely NOT Primeval Whirl!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! You guys have helped so much!

Kali River Rapids is open again.

I was there the week before Easter and was pleasantly surprised at the availability of FP+4,5,6,7 etc at MK.

I was once able to snag 7dmt for a last minute trip for 4 of us by booking FP for one person at a time. The return times were slightly apart, but overlapped enough that we were able to ride together.

Right now the third FP at Epcot is pretty much a waste, but since the dawn of FP+, it is not uncommon to see a 20+ minute queue for Figment. (A 5 minute wait also still happens frequently, so its just a matter of timing)

You can try to snag character spot the same way I described 7dmt...see if there is availability for one at a time.

Heck, I used this same approach to book lunch a BOG. No spots for a party of 2, but availability for one person at 12:05 and another person at 1215. We walked up to the podium together at 12, and were whisked right in.

I think I will just plan 7DMT for rope drop, then straight over to Peter Pan. I was able to get a FP for it's a small world from 10:05-11:05. Then maybe over to Haunted Mansion, then Frontierland. Does this sound like a reasonable plan?

I got BTMRR and Splash, but Splash is quite late (2:10-3:10). I'm scared that will knock us out of extra FPs. I may keep trying to get it moved up.

After Frontierland, head up to Adventureland and finally Tomorrowland. She has never ridden a roller coaster and doesn't want to try anything too major. Space is too major for me, so we will probably skip that as a FP.

You're really going it to have to hoof it from the front of the Rope Drop crowd to avoid a lengthy (25+) wait for 7DMT. And by the time you get to Peter Pan, the wait is likely to be 25+ there too.

Too bad you can't get a FP+ for 7DMT instead of Small World. Then you could do Peter Pan right at rope drop.

I find 7DMT so unexciting that I could definitely skip that one, but if you've never done it, I can see why you would want to be sure to get it in.

There are currently at this minute 2 FP+ for 7DMT on Aprill 11 at 12:55 PM/

My date is April 14 for MK. I'll keep checking for 7DMT. I have ridden it the past two trips, but my intern hasn't so I want to be sure she gets a chance. I didn't think it would be a 25 minute wait if we did Rope Drop. I was able to do it within 5 minutes of park opening during October 2014, and the crowd calendar is similar. Of course, I hate the thought of her having to rush past the castle first thing!

ETA: For right now, should I switch the it's a small world FP to Peter Pan?

Not good. The earliest for Peter Pan is 3:15. I really want to try for extra FPs, if possible. I don't think we will mind waiting 25 minutes, so I guess I'll leave it the way I have it.
