Altered Paint Can Swap - Progress Thread Deadline 10/31

Hi everybody,
I was doing some quart cans for another swap and decided to actually write down the measurements for the paper for a quart-sized can in case it would help anybody:
I used two sheets of cardstock 6 3/4" wide by 4 5/8" high. The seams overlap a little. I used ModgePodge to adhere the paper and then coated it with another coat to seal it.
For the lid, I used my Cricut to cut a perfect 3" circle. If I had the option (but I don't), 3 1/4" might be a little better but the perfect circle is wonderful! :cheer2:
It looks like you can make 3 cans with two sheets of paper if you have an allover pattern.

Happy scrapping!

I use that tape a lot! It holds just about anything!

I am not in the swap either but I was wondering if the glue Zip Dry would work? :confused3 I have used it on metal totes before and it worked great!!
You guys have awesome ideas!!! :thumbsup2

I had to mail paint cans today for another swap and thought I'd pass this along:
I took two of the box trays that they cans come in at Home Depot and cut slits in the corners of one. I used that as the bottom. Then I used the other tray as the top. Be sure to turn the top box 90 degrees so that the handle cutouts aren't lined up. It worked great!!

I have all my papers ready and goodies ready. Now...to find the time to get it done!!! :rolleyes1

Zip dry glue is GREAT!! It will hold just about anything!!
I also have my papers, just gotta finish up septembers swaps first!! LOL

I've had such a productive summer vacation. I finished my cans this week and even found a good box to ship them in. I'm leaving for Disney in less than a week and then teaching starts two days after I get back. Life is going to get crazy.

Has shipping and packing information been posted/sent yet? I think I may try and get these into the mail before I leave. That way, when my brain vanishes at the start of the school year  I won't have to worry about it.

The Pooh cans looks awesome!

I started working on my this weekend and I'm having a problem with my theming.

Is it a huge problem if instead of doing all the Princesses I just do Cinderella and instead of all the Gang just Minnie?

those are AWESOME (and I won't say anymore for the people who want to be surprised!) thanks for sharing! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I bought one for each can and ribboned up the handle a bit. My reasoning was, I doubt that all the cans I get back will be kept in one place, so I'd want a key with each of the cans.

Nope, nohandle on the cans, I ribboned the looped handle end of the paint key itself, just to make it more decorative.

Did you attach the other end of the ribbon in any way? Like under the lid, under the paper ,or under the edge inside the can?

I just tucked the ribbon into the can before tapping down the lid. That way, if someone doesn't want the key hanging around all the time, it's easy for them to remove. The trick was, the first one I finished I used too short a ribbon on. It wasn't long enough to let you use the key. oops. Oh well, that's why I made a practice can I guess.

Here's a reply that covers alll questions, I think: :)
The shipping info is updated on the first post.

Keys are optional but a great idea!!!!

If you are having difficulty with your theme, your new ideas are fine.

Did I miss anything??????

I saw your pooh cans and they are beautiful! I am not even a pooh fan and I would love to have one of those cans!!! Good job!!!! I just couldn't resist saying something, and I am not even in this swap!!!

Hi everybody,
If any folks that are in this swap will be at the scrapbooking event at the Yacht Club next week-end, I would love to meet you. If you have your "goodies" done for the inside of the cans and would like me to take them home so you won't have to pay the postage to mail them, I can do that. Unfortunately, I can't take the cans. If you don't have to mail the goodies, your postage will be less. PM me if you will be at the Yacht Club. I would love to meet you!
