Already nervous about day 1

My 9 yr old with anxiety is the one I’m most worried about.

Planning is great (I am a planner, too), but being "worried" and "anxious" this far out just seems like you're putting a lot of pressure on yourself. Honestly, even if you plan nothing that first day, it's still going to be pretty fantastic.

We haven’t even hit registration yet. Not cruising til next summer. Last cruise we just had a 3 yr old. This year we’ll have 4 kids ages 7-14. I feel like there is so much to do on day one and I can’t figure out what I WANT to do.

Won’t have any tastings/palo to book. Not sure about princesses yet. I’ll need to go check and make sure my allergy is listed from what I hear.

So pool/lunch by the pool?
Lunch, then pool?
Or check out the kids clubs?
When to visit dining? Or just hope for the best on the first night? I did call and have it listed so hopefully it’s no problem.

But then rooms become available. Go check out the room? Interrupt the pool/kids clubs to unpack? We have late dining, so we probably want to unpack by then.

I’m such a planner but have prepared myself to let the other days just happen. It’s this first afternoon that has me all frazzled as we try to get settled in and get the kids comfortable.
I'm just like you...I like to plan, plan, plan!!! Until last year alls we knew was planning trips to the parks and you have to PLAN those quite extensively, well at least I do. Even though everyone else is trying to help, having everyone tell me to relax never helps! We started cruising last year and the best advice I can give would to be letting the kids dictate that first day...if you plan on swimming and then it rains, your plans are canceled. The only thing I personally would do would be to check on the allergy, but as others have noted, you don't need to drag everyone down to do this. Checking out the kids clubs would probably be next to make sure they kiddos are as comfortable as possible (because if they are, it may make the rest of the cruise that much more relaxing if they wanna hang out in the kids clubs!!)

Last piece of advice for a planner is to read as much as you can, watch as many Vlogs as you can to get a feel for the layout of the ship as well as see how other families have handled the same situations!!

Have fun with it all!!!

:rotfl2: We have 4 kiddos ages 8-18, not once have I had to worry about figuring out ”what I want to do”. ...at least not on day 1. They are much too excited and the day just goes as it’s going to go. Can’t stress it, can’t over plan it - just go with it and you’ll have success.

As for allergies and lunch on that first day... We also have allergies in the family so we stick to the MDRs. Your waiter will either show you what is safe in the buffet or arrange for a safe meal, etc.

happy cruising!

Send the kids to the clubs and then go back to the room and have sex with your husband. It might relax you.
