We just got slushy snow here in RI so today on my iPhone I was playing the resort music..September can't come soon enough! I also got my sister hooked on this resort..:thumbsup2

Here is the view from our room in Samoa. Room 3606. This was taken from just outside the door - once you went out on the balcony and looked to the right you could see Thunder Mtn and also the castle (through the trees...LOL)!

Mom2Mek,

Was your room a GV? What a wonderful view!!! It sounds like you had a fun trip! I can't wait to see more pics. How were the crowds overall? I would love to go this time of year someday (the weather has to be better than snow and ice) but I worry about taking the kids out of school since it is right about the time for state "tests". Maybe my dh and I can take a trip without them some day!!:rotfl2:

And now, I know better! It's scary over there! I'm staying here where everyone is really nice. :)

Ah, but if you get really snarky - it's a good place to hang out! [Cue evil laugh here] :goodvibes

I am so excited-just paid off my May 27-31 trip at the Poly!!!! Just had to share-I know y'all will understand!!! Lapu-lapus here we come!!!

This is AWESOME!!! Isn't it a great feeling when you've paid off that Poly trip. Now the hard part begins--counting those final days off until you're there!

So glad you enjoyed your trip! :goodvibes Love that shot of the volcano pool from your room. We stayed 1st floor Samoa about probably 3 doors down closer towards the Hawaii building. LOVED waking up to see the pool every morning. :thumbsup2

We wanted to stay CL...I'm pretty sure if we stay GV we could probobly make it work if we budget. If we stay GV, can you request a certain longhouse, and what are my chances of getting the one I want? Also, do any of the GV floors not have balconies (like the Hawaii building)?

Thanks!

We stayed GV for two of our trips and had a great time! :goodvibes You can indeed request a certain longhouse. As for your chances, a request is just that--a *request*, not a guarantee. I advise people to have at least two other location options to ask for if they check in and don't get what they requested as a first room assignment.

If my memory serves me correctly, both Samoa and Fiji don't have 2nd floor balconies. Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

I stay away from the Community Boards as I don't want to go back into Anger Management therapy :lmao:

I have JUST visited Hawaii last July and I have to say the atmosphere is really like the polynesian.. The polynesian is a GREAT hotel and I hope you enjoy it

If you are staying at CL in Hawaii, and you have a family member who isn't, can they come with you to your room and to the lounge if you are with them?

I ask because my Aunt and Uncle sometimes come and visit us while we are at WDW and we pay for their room, but if they come this time I wouldn't be able to put them at CL with us.

If we escort them, can they come into Hawaii with us?

I agree with Carlnix -- it should be ok to relax with them in the lounge every now and then (you could always ask for permission) but I don't think it's right to bring them there when it's really crowded or to enjoy the food and drink, since they aren't paying for it.

well, we did our taxes...not so sure the Poly is going to happen this year :sad1::sad1::sad1:

Might have to cut back a day, cut back on dining, I don't know...
I really really want to make it work! Just not sure we want to put our entire tax return towards it.

So sorry. I'd cut back on the dining and still have a great vacation. It's only food and that's not really what you'll remember about the trip anyway. Just my opinion though.

I know lots of people request a longhouse, and some get the one the request and some don't. And yes, like Hawaii, many of the longhouses are missing the balconies on the 2nd floor. You could request a balcony and a paito, of course.

Wow, I've never heard of the community boards...glad I haven't made my way over there, I much prefer my Poly community here! :grouphug:

I've stayed away from that area as well. The Poly community is IMO one of the friendliest threads on the boards.:flower3: I wonder if it has something to do with the "laid back" atmosphere of the Poly itself, or if we're just lucky here.

The first time we stayed there we had to skip a lot of the dining and stayed GV. It was still a magical vacation - just being at the Poly was wonderful.

I hope you can find a way to make it happen for you! Maybe you could do a CL/GV split at the Poly? :goodvibes

Lissiesmum -- I just noticed that your ticker says 4 DAYS!!! You and your DD must be SO excited!!! I hope you love the Poly as much this time as last year!!! Are you all packed up and ready to go yet??? :cheer2:

Maybe it has something to do with the lapu lapu's ... :rotfl2:

Yes, we leave Sunday morning! We are so excited...but DD still doesn't know that we're staying at the Poly! I'm amazed I've been able to keep it a secret! I know we'll love it just as much, and probably more than last year. She'll probably ask where the lounge with the chocolate milk and choco chip cookies is, but besides that little hiccup, I'm sure we'll have the time of our lives! I've got a pile of clothes on top of my suitcase, but still waiting a few more days to decide what to pack. It's so cold down there right now, in the 30s at night and they even had a windchill advisory on WESH tv. Looking ahead, it looks like it'll warm up for my week. I'm crossing my fingers for warmth and spot showers if it has to rain! :thumbsup2

I didn't try this last year, but we'll be dining at both Kona and 'Ohana for dinner so it is on my list for this trip for sure :)

 everyone.

So many of you getting ready to go soon or within the next month. How exciting and I'm looking forward to reviews.

I have my ADRs all set, but need to request a floor. . .I'll get to it. We are planning to drive this year for the June vacation since we will be visiting with relatives while in Florida. That is a first for us and I'm not convinced that I really want to do it. What is the scoop with parking when staying CL? Long ago valet used to be complimentary but IIRC, that was changed a few years back. Just trying to verify my memory I guess (and checking out my new signature to see if it all fits ;) ).

And I also agree with others, this is a friendly thread and no worries about snarkiness here. :thumbsup2

Kicking around June also. Do you have dates set? Nearly drove, but have free-miles tickets on hold while we think it over. Will be hard to pass with the new codes out. That, or maybe its the orange/guava drink, I don't know.

Our dates are 6/19-26/10. We're undecided which end of the vacation we will be visiting family--leaning toward the early side though. I guess that is the benefit of driving;we can pretty much do as we please. The downside is driving. :headache:

We love 'Ohana! Haven't had the chance to try Kona yet... I didn't know you were keeping the Poly a secret!!! How fun!!! When will you tell her? We did a surprise trip to DL one year and DD didn't know where we were going until we pulled up at the GC hotel -- so much fun! I hope you get good weather!

PS -- you could always keep some milk and cookies in your room!;)

Oh snap! I just saw the new summer deals released and...we *may* wind up switching our trip to June instead AND adding on a few days stay at the Poly. DD10 has said she wouldn't mind going in Summer rather than Christmas. Need to run the numbers....
