You're right - at the community board! I'm done with the thread, it just got nasty, yikes.

I had a similar problem on the Theme Park board a few weeks ago. All I wanted was contact info to follow up on something and it just snowballed into a lot of nastiness. I swear some posters on these boards just have nothing more constructive to do than to be mean to other people. :sad2:
I'm glad over here at the Poly board we're more into beautiful scenery (including the human kind! :lmao:), our laid back atmosphere, and sipping lapu lapus. Much more enjoyable. :thumbsup2

I agree!

Is it time to go to the Poly yet?? :)

Real life is taking up too much of my DIS time.:rotfl:

Hi guys, Happy Monday!

Quick question about Capt Cook's...I'll be ordering a few groceries from garden grocer, but realized I forgot to order utensils. Are they out to grab at Capt Cook's? Is it ok to take some back to your room?

Also, I've been checking both weather.com and accuweather.com and they couldn't be more opposite. On our first full day, weather.com says rain, and accuweather says brilliant sunshine....huh?:confused3 I'm routing for team accuweather! :thumbsup2

Check WESH at

It's the local NBC affliate in Orlando... you'll get a good local forecast there...

I was just about to suggest this. :thumbsup2

I lived in Orlando for five years and the one thing you can really count on from now until April is for the 'unpredictable' rain. It's like Spring in the Northeast. One day can be gorgeous, the others the skies open up with 'liquid sunshine'. :lmao:

I love the feeling of walking through the front sliding doors into the main lobby when you first arrive at the Polynesian. Hearing the waterfall makes me feel at home, 100%.

I am so excited-just paid off my May 27-31 trip at the Poly!!!! Just had to share-I know y'all will understand!!! Lapu-lapus here we come!!!

Aloha! :goodvibes Just got back on Sunday night from a great first family trip to the Poly! My DH and I spent a long weekend there in May but this was our first time staying there as a family! We had a 3rd floor room in Samoa with a view of the volcano pool, monorail in the distance, and Grand Floridian, with a little lagoon view thrown in there and if you went out on the balcony, you could see the top of Thunder Mountain and the Castle was through the trees but visible at night since it is lit up! :cloud9:

I also got to see the Club Level as my parents were staying there! They had garden view (view of quiet pool) and the view from the lounge was beautiful! The kids spent the night with them on our last night and had a blast!

I miss it so much already! It was cold most days we were there and rained on 2 of them, but the Poly was fabulous and I think it will be hard to stay anywhere else! :rolleyes1

Here is the view from our room in Samoa. Room 3606. This was taken from just outside the door - once you went out on the balcony and looked to the right you could see Thunder Mtn and also the castle (through the trees...LOL)!

I will have lots more pictures once I get them all uploaded. This was taken from my phone when we arrived! I had requested Tokelau because I figured Samoa was a long shot since it is a much smaller longhouse but I could not have been happier with our room and view. Sure the extra 60 sq ft would have been nice in Tokelau considering we had 5 people, but the convenience to Hawaii (where my parents were), the proximity to the GCH and the monorail, etc, etc....was GLORIOUS!! We loved it!!!

Any questions, ask away, and I will try to help! :goodvibes

mom2mek -- thank you for the delightful review of your family's first stay at the Poly. You really lucked out with your room assignment -- so close to the pools & Hawaii!!!:) And you didn't even request it!

Glad you all had a wonderful trip, and how nice that your parents were there with you as well.:goodvibes

Yes, it was very nice to have them there for part of the trip. We got there on Saturday, the 6th and then they arrived on Wed, the 10th. We left the night of the 13th and they stayed for a few hours on the 14th before leaving for their flight around 1:00.

We really did luck out with our room! We were VERY happy and left the curtains open most nights so we could see the lights from the pool and the GF. It was very tranquil. I could see how that location could get noisy in the summer though with the pool right there. Even as cold as it was, there were still people out around the pool at night and I'm guessing in the warmer months, you would have a lot more traffic right there! Didn't bother us at all and overall, the resort was SUPER quiet. Loved it! :cloud9:

If you are staying at CL in Hawaii, and you have a family member who isn't, can they come with you to your room and to the lounge if you are with them?

I ask because my Aunt and Uncle sometimes come and visit us while we are at WDW and we pay for their room, but if they come this time I wouldn't be able to put them at CL with us.

If we escort them, can they come into Hawaii with us?

well, we did our taxes...not so sure the Poly is going to happen this year :sad1::sad1::sad1:

Might have to cut back a day, cut back on dining, I don't know...
I really really want to make it work! Just not sure we want to put our entire tax return towards it.

We wanted to stay CL...I'm pretty sure if we stay GV we could probobly make it work if we budget. If we stay GV, can you request a certain longhouse, and what are my chances of getting the one I want? Also, do any of the GV floors not have balconies (like the Hawaii building)?

Thanks!

You can bring your family members with you! It's your club level lounge! However I wouldn't bring them in to have beers and snacks!
