ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

My understanding is that the monorail only operates an hour after regular park closing...and not after EMH's....so, if at Epcot for EMHs I can't imagine they'd just strand you there...there must be a bus right???

I think it varies. The MK was open until midnight when we were there and the monorail stopped running at midnight. The Boats ran an hour after park closing and then of course they had buses. :thumbsup2

Hey guys its been a while since I have been on the Dis. lots of things going on.
But I need some of your advice, I have only stayed in the Hawaii Bldg when I have been able to stay at Poly, but I need to figure out which longhouse is best for a TPV room (best view of Cinderella Castle, and size of room) it will be me, my sister and nephew.

Thanks

Thats a lot of requests. I would request Samoa or Tokelau with connecting rooms or just connecting rooms with balcony. There is really no bad location at the poly everthing is pretty close. I would choose one other request beside the connecting rooms, and leave it at that.

Thanks! Yeah, I knew that's a lot so didn't know what to request. It's 2 families each with specific likes. Does Somoa and Tokelau both offer balconies? I had read some don't have them.

I know Samoa second floor does not. I am not sure about Tokelau. I would check out the Tikimanpages website. He gives a good description of all the longhouses. I know the second floor on several of the longhouses do not have them. I have stayed at the Poly 3 times and have always gotten my room requests.

I know! I was a little bummed to see that. But on the other hand, we personally spend so little time at the pools it won't make a real difference.

We love hot tubs on vacation. I read on allears.net that the volcano pool has an area in the deep end that has hot water jets and bench seating. How "warm" does it get?

There are jets.... and they are somewhat warm, but nothing like a hot tub. But its a nice place to sit in the pool! :thumbsup2

Well - its official - I am back on the Poly train!!!:banana::banana: no matter how much I try to convince myself I don't want to stay here....the Poly allure is stronger!!!! I hope I love it!!! :lovestruc

Me too. Have dreamed of staying here forever. I got a huge contract and just completed it on my side business so this is my reward to myself. So excited. Is that wrong for a 43 year old man? LOL
My 14 year old DS is as excited as I am of course. The rest of the family is starting to grumble about them not getting to go but I just remind them THEY were the ones who decided to LEAVE EARLY from Disney in July.

I do have one question, how ECV friendly is the Poly? I have had 2 knee replacements on the same knee and lets just say I can walk about 30 minutes and I am done so I have started using an ECV when in parks.

:woohoo:

The RC Poly Parade is back on!

I am going to price out the Poly for a 3 or 4 day trip for F&W or Christmas, hopefully book a BB and telling DH that is my Christmas present for next year...what ya think??? So he does not like the Poly but I have been thinking it would be very convenient for the simple fact of walking to TTC for the Epcot monorail and since it will be my Christmas present he can't say no right? I have the Poly bug bad :rotfl:

Well while my whole family is jumping on my trip why don't you join in too? Better grab a bed while you can!;)

Don't kill me for asking this!!!! But, I read somewhere that the AC units are on a motion detector??? So, during the night if there is no movement, it goes off so you get hot until you get up and activate it??? Is this true or just one of those silly rumors? :confused3

I can't remember! We use the ceiling fan all night so I just can't tell you. Maybe someone else?
