ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

Just returned on Monday :sad1:, had no problems with the hot water in Hawaii. Lounge was fantastic, evening food even better than last summer - was there once at 6:30 and all plates were still full of food, so they're definitely replenishing.

Can't wait to go back next August - have a wonderful time everyone who is leaving soon!! And stay healthy!

Just checking in to see my counter today. Things are looking good! :)

Glad to hear that any hot water issues have been resolved. I would NOT be a happy camper if I'd spent the extra $$ on Hawaii.

I'm so excited! Just booked Poly CL for January. We couldn't work a trip in before Christmas this year because the kid's schools schedules. We try to avoid the Christmas crowds. I recently realized they don't go back to school until Jan. 9th. We are going to work a short trip in after New Years! The Poly is special to our family because we have had so many stays there, and a lot of wonderful memories. I was concerned after reading Tikiman's post on Facebook about big changes in store for the Poly. I wanted to get one more visit in just in case this turns out to be true. I was even able to get the ADRs I wanted! :cheer2:

Hello! I'm sure there is an answer to this somewhere... but I can't seem to find it! Do all of the longhouses have elevators? Thanks!

Thanks...I think the wonderful warm FL weather will get us all better. However, back here we are supposed to have a wonderful weekend as well. It has been getting cold here (60s day time - 30s to 40s at night)but now they are looking at mid to upper 70s.....oh well, so much for getting away from the cold weather.

I agree....the warm Florida sun will do everyone good :). The weather here this weekend is supposed to be like summer (I see you're in Downers Grove......we are in NWI so very close to you.....only about 45 minutes from Downers Grove ;)). The news this morning showed 79 Friday with temps in the 80s Saturday and Sunday :beach:. But they also said we are in for a bad winter :scared1:.

Glad you had a fantastic stay.....you'll be going back before you know it :goodvibes.

Congrats on booking another trip to the Poly :cool1:.

Hello! I'm sure there is an answer to this somewhere... but I can't seem to find it! Do all of the longhouses have elevators? Thanks!

I think they all have elevators (hopefully someone can verify that or correct me ;)). We stayed in Samao and there were elevators :).

There is an elevator in Rarotonga! I used it many times last week! It is a small one which surprises us, but it works!

All of them except Niue (only 2 floors)...and for that you can use the elevator in Rarotonga and walk across.

Hi everyone! I'll have to go back & read but so excited, I booked my first Poly stay today! Going in January with family & have a few days to myself at the end of the trip - so I'm treating myself with the Poly!! SO PUMPED!!

Good evening my fellow Poly lovers. Since I haven't seen any recent posts from Tikiman about changes to the Poly I am going to believe that no news is good news. :thumbsup2

Congrats on your first Poly stay......you're gonna love it :goodvibes.

Thanks! Which longhouse did you stay in?

I've stayed in Tokelau 3 times - once on the 3rd floor and twice on the ground floor. The 3rd floor was fine and you are guaranteed no room is above you but we have barely ever heard people above us - but definitely next to us or in the hallway. But we only hear them during the times that everyone is headed to the parks in the AM and sometimes in the evenings - nothing horrible. Of course, each time we heard people in the hallway, it was because we were in the END room of Tokelau (nearest the bus stop end, not the water end). But again, didn't bother us too much because we were also getting ready to head out.

We also got the END room near the water in 2009 and it was AWESOME! It had a 'partial' view of Cindy's castle but you had to hop on to the patio and then to the grass to really see it. But it was an awesome location!

Hi Everyone!

I'm posting live from our cabana at the Polynesian!

We are having an amazing time so far. We were upgraded to Theme Park View Club Level!

There is plenty of food, and it is replenished frequently during each service. They no longer have glass bottles of evian, but they do have refillable glass bottles of natura filtered water that they encourage you to take back to the room.

The weather is great and the resort doesn't seem too crowded. Today was the first time I've seen wristbands at the Volcano pool during our stay.

The Volcano pool is pretty chilly and we were told my our cabana attendant, Seth, that new heaters were installed last week and they are still working on the temperature.

Did you check in online before your trip? Just curious to see if they give upgrades to those who pre-register. Continue having a great time & Keep that weather great please. :goodvibes

Hi!

No we didn't do online check in. We were informed of the upgrade upon arrival by the Club Level greeter.

Thanks so much for the info! It sounds like Tokelau is a popular longhouse for a good reason.
