ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

Really excited for those of you leaving this week for the Poly....please check in and let us know if you all hear anything of the "major announcement". Also would love your views of how your trip was. Since we dont go til next year I am living thru all of you. Have a great time!! :):dance3:

Need some pixie dust! :wizard:

DD15 now up to 102 fever....leaving tomorrow on 3 p.m. flight...:sad2:

okay, I've now read two reports of no hot water in Hawaii building recently :(. Anyone there in the last few days have a report on this???

For those of you listening to my whining - I have been sick for the past 3 weeks. Allergies that turned into a nasty sinus infection. Two weeks of antibiotics and the cough is still lingering. This weekend starting Thursday night I felt like I was hit by a truck and run over multiple times...but no fever. Friday still sick, Saturday getting better, but still weak and better on Sunday. Back at work today and then I get a call from school that DD15 has thrown up and has a slight fever. I am now pumping vitamins into the two remaining kids and spraying with Lysol. :headache::confused3

I hope everyone gets well soon and you have a great trip :wizard:.

Approximately 46.5 hours until we will be checking in.
Excited-relaxed feeling growing.
Housesitter prepped.
Kids getting hyped,
dogs oblivious as usual,
cats don't care.

Preparing for immersion.

Have a great trip :dance3:.

I'm interested in this as well. We are booked Poly CL in December and no hot water would not be a good thing :sad2:.

To everyone leaving, have a safe and magical trip!

FWIW we experienced no problems with hot water when we were there two weeks ago. (just typing that made me cry :sad1:)

No hot water?????????? Lets hope they fix that PRONTO!

Steve S/Tikiman is there now & doing FB updates - he is in Hawaii and there has been no mention of a problem with the hot water. Though he says the food in the lounge has been great and plentiful! :thumbsup2

Leaving in two days!:cool1::cool1::cool1:
I can't believe my trip is finally here. I started 180 days ago, got awesome dining reservations,(Le Cellier, Cali Grill, Flying Fish, Ohana's). Requested Figi, or Tokelau 3rd floor.
I keep checking weather forcast, looks like rain everyday.:sad2::sad2: I know, I know Florida forcasts always say chance of rain, so everyone out there please reassure me that the weather will be fine!:rotfl:
I am sharing one room with DH and two preening teenagers so I have actually timed myself this morning to see how quickly I can get out the door. I showered, put on clothes, makeup in less than 30 minutes!:woohoo: My teenagers might be another story. ;) I would be interested to know how long it takes everyone else to get ready.Hm...
Anyways, I am so excited I can't stand it! Thanks to everyone on this board who have helped me so much!:hug:

TOTALLY understand about the weather!!! It's showing rain everyday for our time as well but just remember that it can just mean an afternoon shower and then it may not even happen! And of course, the ever popular saying 'a rainy day at Disney is better than a sunny day at home.' Raspberry to that! I'd still like some sun on my vacation but maybe if I have the mentality that it will rain the whole time, I'll be happy when it is sunny ;)

I get up before everyone in the AM and use the bathroom but all I do is brush teeth, put on self-tanner/sunscreen, and then put on just a tad bit of make-up and throw my hair up. So it's only a 10 minute thing for me in the AM. In the afternoon, I go back to the room first (from the pool) and get in the shower. When I'm about halfway done getting ready, the rest of the family gets back to the room and does their thing. It works out well! But I don't have teenagers yet and the kids are ok taking showers while I'm in the bathroom drying my hair.

Oh...I totally forgot to do a SINGLE DIGIT DANCE yesterday :cool1::cool1::cool1:

:banana::banana::banana:
:dance3:
:cheer2:

YEAH!

we just returned 10/2 from the Poly. We loved the resort. The part we loved the most was being able to sit at the hotel and watch the MK fireworks. I did have a problem with the hot water one evening. It was about 8:00 and I think there were probably a lot or other people taking showers then too. I had the water turned as hot as it would go, and it was only luke warm. But I felt kind of good after being in the heat all day.

Hi fellow Poly lovers! Our last two trips have been in the Hawaii building with a MK view, so I was sure to ask for a 3rd floor room. This time around we're booking a GV room and thinking that a patio room might be a better idea. I only worry that we might lose some privacy with the foot traffic going by. I also have an irrational fear that a Florida critter might make its way into our room.

If you had a patio did you like it? Why or why not?

Thanks so much!

Heya all
Does anyone remember what day they are going to be doing the Poly Deadication this month for its 40th?. I had heard that they are doing some kind of little thing at the resort but cant remember what day they were doing it. Something tells me its like the 24th.

LOVE the patio!!! It feels like we have more room to move about and I've never felt like there was a lot of foot traffic. And if there is, the sidewalk is well away from your patio. Never had critters come in either.

Have a great trip :yay:. I usually get up first before everybody else and get ready. With that said, I can get showered, dressed, and make up on in about 30-40 minutes ;).

Glad DD15 has been fever free and I hope DD5 gets rid of her headache . I always take lots of meds just in case because you never know when you're going to need them :thumbsup2.

Glad you had a great stay. Watching the fireworks from the beach is one of our favorite things to do there :cloud9:.

Thanks...I think the wonderful warm FL weather will get us all better. However, back here we are supposed to have a wonderful weekend as well. It has been getting cold here (60s day time - 30s to 40s at night)but now they are looking at mid to upper 70s.....oh well, so much for getting away from the cold weather.
