This might sound like a strange question, but has anyone actually used the daybed for a bed? :confused3 Was is comfortable or not worth it? :confused3

I have not slept on it but my kids do when we are there. They have no problem with it. In fact, we have to switch off nights so each of them get a chance to sleep on it :)

So I've seen some comments about light sleepers. I get really confused by this because we CRASH at Disney! My husband has horrible insomnia yet the ONLY place he sleeps is at Disneyworld. It is so go, go, go all the time that at night, we all crash and fall asleep easily. There have been times when I have heard some noise in neighboring rooms, but nothing has ever woken me up or kept me awake.

If you want to reduce noise at your room at the Poly, ask for a room on the highest floor of the longhouse you are in. Not only will that reduce the noise of anyone above you (since there is no one above you!), it will also be less likely that you will have people wandering the halls on the top floor. While we like the ground floor for the patio, we do tend to hear a lot of foot traffic from folks coming through the ends of the longhouse to get to the elevator in the middle. Usually that foot traffic is heaviest when people are leaving for the parks or coming back.

On a personal note, I am no closer to knowing if I can book for this fall (or maybe the better term would be 'when' I can go!). I am hoping to book a Poly vacation for us but I have to see how this project goes at work. So sprinkle pixie dust my way that everything works out well and I can start actually planning a trip!

So it's ok for kids. What about for an adult?? :confused3 We're planning a "girls" get away so it would be for one of us!

pixiedust: Pixie dust coming your way!! :goodvibes

Hi Everyone! Sorry for another request post, but I wanted some advice.

My DH, DD (4) and I will be visiting the Poly in mid-September for a long-weekend getaway. We are expecting a baby in November, so this will be a little babymoon trip for the 3 of us!

We are booked in a LV room and I've been leaning toward requesting a room in Tahiti, but am concerned about the distance from the GCH. I know that Tahiti is close to the TTC, so that will help with monorail access, but is it a really long walk back there from the GCH? We stayed at Tuvalu for our last trip and never really ventured down toward Tahiti to get a sense of the distance. I know that I'll be doing a ton of walking at the park, so I don't want to add a ton more walking in the resort. I'm feeling great, though, so I don't expect any problems!

Any advice? Thanks!!

Tiki man's website has maps of each longhouse and estimated walking distance between points of interest.

PS-What did you like/dislike about Tuvalu?

Grand Floridan Spa, Amazing (Firm Pressure massage) Kona Island Chicken sandwich, great with my Pina Colava, stores at POLY have Polynesian merchandise. I bought on clearance a Poly photo book 5.99 yeah & Mickey Mouse Flatware 49.95, Hubby bought new Oakleys (sunglasses) I bought swim suit shorts with Mickey on them at Boutiki 20.00, of course I bought a Coconut to send to my parents right then and there, etc. SOA was cute, a little cheesey but I expected that, first time going, I personally didn't enjoy the food and the wine was nasty, ,.

Does anyone know if BOUTIKI sells simple MICKEY tshirts..like this

I wanted to buy 4 for family photos...but hoped to not have to pay shipping.

Wish I could go online before my trip and KNOW what the store at the resort had on sale...Does anyone know if I can? :confused3

So excited for you!!! ;) we are traveling about the same time...
I feel bad wishing away the last weeks of summer buttt.....I cant wait :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I would, however, highly suggest bringing a noise machine/fan to drown out the typical hotel noises if your son is a light sleeper.

Since I will be flying, I have to improvise, I have heard others say to use the radio in the room, set it off of a station for the white noise static.

My son is a light sleeper...this is what worked for us at POP with some terrible neighbors on trip. I had the white noise APP if you have a itouch or Iphone...
(SEARCH under apps, white noise)...it was nice because it was not a hassle to bring because its small...to make it louder I would bring tiny speakers.

I like the idea of a fan to compliment the above...
but I think Id have to ship it...has anyone done this?
I have a smallish fan..Honeywell....Model# HT-900

Hi I just joined DisBoards and this is my first post. I'm on MouseWait app and saw this site recommended.

I'm going to Walt Disney World in August and staying at the Polynesian! It's our (my family) favorite resort. Actually we never stayed at any other....but visited or ate at a few other resorts.

Does anyone remember Tangaroa Terrace? My mom said it was her favorite place to eat until it changed to a conference room.

So I just wanted to say hello and express my favoritism for the polynesian :):cool1::thumbsup2

Yes....yes....I remember it

We use to always eat breakfast there....loved it :thumbsup2

Ive been so busy the past few days its crazy BUT I realized that in less that 100 days we will be at the POLY!!!!!!!!!! OMG I don't know wether to have a Lapu Lapu first or some Kona Coffee :goodvibes:

I have a question for you all..........if you do the Valet Parking can you have Bell Services still take your bags to your room (not CL guests) and also, is the Valet Parking per DAY or per time they 'pull your car'

Also, would you recommend getting a cake sent to your room from the GF, or getting one delivered to your table at Chef Mickeys???

And also, whats the lovely lady who does floral arrangements for the hotels.... Betty something??

Thank you all SO much!! :worship:

Oh, yes, I remember Tangaroa Terrace. We went there for breakfast on a trip in 1991, because Kona cafe was closed to rehab & I HAD to have my Tonga Toast! Little did we know, it was a Character breakfast with Chip & Dale. My DD#1, then 13, wanted NO part of them and, of course, they saw that & teased her unmercifully! :rotfl2: Worst part was I didn't bring my camera to breakfast (wasn't taking "food porn" pics back then) and missed all the "fun"! Ever since, I never go ANYwhere in DW without it! You never what kind of "magical memories" you might miss. :wizard:

Last trip we were LV Tahiti & loved it. It is a less than 5 min walk to the GCH, I actually find the Poly a fairly compact resort and nothing is a "long" walk to me. You walk past maybe one or two other longhouses and you are at the GCH.

Valet parking is charged 1x per day no matter how my times you pull your car in and out. Also, if you are visiting other resorts you can valet there for the one price, just show your receipt.

Bell Services will take your bags whether you pull up, unload and self park or valet. We have done both and bell services always takes our luggage.

I haven't used the cake or flower services, so I can't be of help with that.

Okay dear Poly fanatics!!!! I don't see the Barefoot Pool Bar on the TiW list....is this correct that the card is not valid here????

:welcome:I hope you have a wonderful trip! Are you requesting a building?

I didn't know you could request a building!!!! Good to know for the future....

Ours is garden view whereever it will be. We've stayed in ones near the great ceremonial house and ones nearer to the Transportation ticket center, both worked out fine though walking to. What building do you like best? The last one we stayed in was the Tahiti.

We are Samoa fans!!!! We like to be right by the Volcano Pool. It is not too late to add this to your reservation (depends on when you are going). I would just call WDW directly. Everyone has their preference....

This is exactly how I feel. I don't really even like going in August for that reason but we couldn't pass up the discounts. :) So I suck it up and have a blast anyway. The summer really does fly by when you have a trip planned.
