ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

Does anyone know if BOUTIKI sells simple MICKEY tshirts..like this

The link doesnt go directly to the specific shirt but its basically the link that says "Mickey Mouse Tee Shirts"

The classic mickey looking like old fashioned mickey

I wanted to buy 4 for family photos...but hoped to not have to pay shipping.

Wish I could go online before my trip and KNOW what the store at the resort had on sale...Does anyone know if I can? :confused3

Anyone..? :confused3

Cannot believe Ill be there in 19 DAYS...im so excited I can barely stand it!! just trying to figure out if I have to make shirts before I go or if I can just buy them there...thanks for any help.

This might sound like a strange question, but has anyone actually used the daybed for a bed? :confused3 Was is comfortable or not worth it? :confused3

So it's ok for kids. What about for an adult?? :confused3 We're planning a "girls" get away so it would be for one of us!

pixiedust: Pixie dust coming your way!! :goodvibes

I can't exactly speak for an adult, but my 2 kids BOTH slept on it (heads at opposite ends), most nights. So it's plenty big enough. It seems comfortable to me!

I checked over here
http://www.wdwinfo.com/disneydiningexperience.htm
Don't see Barefoot pool bar listed...Ill let an expert confirm however;)

We had TIW last year but I let my pass expire..wondering if its going to cost me this trip...probably!

I found the same information plus this website:

http://www.onlywdworld.com/2011/02/tables-in-wonderland-disney-dining-plan.html

I am finding the same thing as you....:guilty: That would have been :cloud9:heaven if that included our tab at the Barefoot Pool Bar!!!! Oh well, it will still be worth it, plus the card will be in my name and we can use it for both trips.

This is exactly how I feel. I don't really even like going in August for that reason but we couldn't pass up the discounts. :) So I suck it up and have a blast anyway. The summer really does fly by when you have a trip planned.

Ya - Its really funny we used to go exclusively in November over thanksgiving break...we bought into the line that "its too hot" to go in the Summer...BUT after 5 years in November - we often found it wasnt warm enough to swim. I also didnt like having to pack winter coats!

Honestly swimming is what my kids want to spend the majority of their time doing on vacation...going in August ensures that every night we are there...its ok to swim! Therefore, we look at the HEAT as a PLUS...and the discounts as an extra big PLUS :thumbsup2

Yay! I am so glad I found this thread again, my gosh its been so long since I have been on the disney boards...our last trip was way back in 2002 and we are so long overdue for a trip to disney. My oldest is graduating next year from college and so I would say this trip is warranted for sure. we have been trying to get back to disney for awhile but just haven't made it. Planning to stay at the Poly as we've never have before and its so beautiful. Any recommendations for a room garden view with balcony near the ceremonial house...would anyone have any pics of any rooms with this type of view. let me know and thanks alot.

A friend of mine slept on it and he's 6'2" and said it was really comfortable. :thumbsup2

I've never requested a particular room at a hotel/resort in my life but I think I may this time. We are going with the Garden View at Poly and I think the main thing I'm looking for is a pretty view. I don't mind walking and we don't have to be near the main building or TTC necessarily. I see alot of people like the volcano side of Samoa but I also hear alot about Marina side of Fiji. Is the marina side of Fiji considered garden view still? Does anybody out there have a couple pics of their view of the marina? Or....can you direct me to a link that does maybe? thanks so much. You Poly people are the best! If I'm in a bad mood or tired, I just check out this thread and I immediately perk up:goodvibes

Is there a path from the Poly to the Grand Floridian, if so how long does it take to walk there ?

Counting down the hours until we leave....this time tomorrow night we won't be at the Poly yet, but we'll be in a hotel, along the road TO the Poly! :cool1:

We are Samoa fans!!!! We like to be right by the Volcano Pool. It is not too late to add this to your reservation (depends on when you are going). I would just call WDW directly. Everyone has their preference....

Thanks again!! I would like to stay in the Hawaii, or Samoa sounds great!! But I can't talk my mom into being close to either pool, she thinks it would be noisy. (she's real sensitive to noise)

I noticed your ticker.
We are staying at HRH & Poly too around the same time.
We leave for HRH in 17 Days!!! So excited
Have a great trip

You too! I see you are celebrating a big bday there. I did that a couple of year ago. The best birthday ever!!! Have a great time!:thumbsup2

So funny...my DH is the exact same way, he hates noise and yet we're going to WDW!! Seriously though even though he wouldnt admit it, he just a kid at heart too and loves WDW :) We all can't wait to get back and see WDW its been nearly 10 years for us, way too long!!

Hi everyone! We are officially booked now for the first week in march @ CL level! We are so excited to be traveling with my parents. We've gone back and forth about whether to stay at the poly or not but I think I have them convinced. We stayed there in May and loved it. Now we can't wait to stay in the Hawaii building! Part of me feels guilty for 2 nice trips in a year.... but it might be the only chance my kids have with their grandparents.... and I've secretly been spoiled! ;)

I have been looking at tikimanpages.com . Click on the loghouses section and it will give you a map and show you the approximate walk times to things like the GCH and the TTC. It also shows you which rooms are considered GV, etc...

Definitely check out tikimans site because you can see the resort layout and he has pictures of the longhouses as well as room views. He also shows which longhouses' rooms are tagged for which view category so that you can get a good feel for the pool of rooms available in your view category.

Yes, there is a lovely walking path to the GF. We have used it many times for dinner ressies. We usually monorail there(to stay nice and fresh--LOL) and then take the path back. It is very lovely but be aware that they now have walls up for the beginning of the GFV construction. It may not be as picturesque in those areas.

The walk takes about 6-8 minutes depending on how fast you walk:goodvibes

Ahh, yes! BUT! How fast can it be walked with 2 Lapu Lapu's in hand, hmmmmmm? :rotfl: I shall do this walk at the end of next month and report back my exact timage, LOL. I changed resorts again. Yes, again, and I still couldn't get the Poly for our days, but I was able to get the Grand Floridian. I figure if I can walk back and forth for delicious drinks and Kona Crab Cake rolls, it's the next best thing. :thumbsup2

Hello Poly Fans!:goodvibes
I am in the early stages in planning a March 2012 vacation to the Poly! It will be over DD20's 21st birthday weekend! My DD20 and I are planning this together. Her dream resort has always been the Poly, and now we will finally be staying there! We are looking at March 1-5, 2012. We are going for a week in January, so we will just go for a quick girls weekend trip in March. Traveling with DD20 and I will be DD18 and DD9. DH will be staying home, so we can make this a girls trip! It was DD20's idea to also make this a surprise trip for DD9!!!
As you can probably tell, we are very excited! We are torn between staying CL or not. We will definitely be staying theme park view, whether it is CL or not.
Is there anything special that, if we stay CL, the Poly can do for DD's 21st birthday? I am going to probably be booking today or tomorrow.
Thanks all, I look forward to reading up on this thread!
Lauren

HHmmmm....I suppose it depends on whether or not the Lapu Lapus are full or EMPTY!!!!!! if the later is the case, all bets are off on timing because you would probably be walking in circles:rotfl2: Although, because you will be invisible by that point, you won't actually embarrass yourself:cool2:

IF you keep your GF ressie(which I have my doubts given your track record--LOL) you must make sure to snoop and snap pictures of any top-secret work going on behind those construction walls.
