Tikiman also says "the resort is fine" so I would take that to mean that it is nothing too drastic, like levelling anything. Sounds like those with future reservations can rest easy.

I have always wanted to stay at the Poly with my family and now that we will be I am so excited. The kids are going to so love it there. The beauty of the resort is one of the reasons why we love it so much.

You will have a great time.....the Poly is an awesome resort......we love everything about it .

We returned a week ago from our first trip at the Poly (15-23) and it was amazing! I hope the big announcement isn't any tear downs or such, we loved everything just as it was.

Us too......we think the Poly is perfect just the way it is . We have only stayed there once, but are booked for our second stay in December and I can't wait .

I agree that the Poly is great the way it is. I think this "something big" that is coming better be very carefully done. People love the Poly. It could be a huge mistake to mess with the aesthetic and atmosphere of the resort too much. Selfishly I wouldn't mind DVC (providing I could convince DH to buy in! ) IF they could incorportate it in a way that it blends with what's already there and they add facilities so that the resort could accommodate more guests (ie. another pool, restaurant etc). I'm just not sure where they would put it.

I totally agree with you on all points. We can both check things out when we get there and hopefully the news won't be too bad.

Wouldn't they wait until they're done with the new resort at the Grand Floridian? How many projects do they want going simultaneously?

Maybe it would be more cost effective? If the construction were say, over in the Luau cove area it would become like one large site, sharing contractors, equipment etc. Just a thought

Hi All - Im new to DISboards and this is my first reply :good vibes

We are off to the Poly in December. Can anyone tell me what the xmas decorations will be like? Ive seen some pictures but all they seem to involve is poinsettias in the lobby area which seems a bit low key for Disney. Surely there's more than that going on???

Also, is the DVC at the GF confirmed now? Last I heard there was something definitely happening but no official confirmation of a DVC resort?

As I was saying to another poster, they are not over the top, grand-scale decorations like you will see at GF or WL, but they are not bad. They are definitely geared towards the theming of the resort.

Wow is all I can say. Finally decided to do a split stay at Poly/GF for our anniversary next year, and now it appears that I have to go back to the drawing board. UGH. Now it might be YC or AKL.

Well, I wouldn't say THAT quite yet! We don't even know what it is yet.....everyone needs to just be patient and wait it out. It may not even interfere with our vacations. No sense stressing about something that is just here-say for now, right?

I called to request a certain cabana but they said I could not make a request for a cabana over the phone but I could do that when I check in. But all I can think is that I check in the moment I'm actually using it and they have already got it set up for the day so I'm not sure how that would work. Has anyone requested a certain cabana and if so, how did you go about it? Thanks!

I would agree. Even the guy who's "breaking the news" says he doesn't know when this will happen. I would imagine anything is in the fairly preliminary stages (or there would be more info/rumours floating around out there).

I'm going to stay optimistic and keep planning for our first stay at the Poly in April! I had a question about reserving one of the cabanas. How far in advance can you reserve one? Is it 180 days (or 180+10 days) like the ADRs?
