ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

Can anyone tell me if the walkway between the Poly & GF is opened or closed?

Also, if anyone pays for CL and the rooms are overbooked, what's the usual procedure? I'm on the fence and probably won't make up my mind until the last minute. Is it possible to stay anywhere in the resort and just go to the Lounge? This would be during Xmas.:goodvibes:goodvibes

Not positive about the walkway but I believe there was some discussion a while back about it being closed once you reach a certain point. Maybe someone else can answer that? :confused3

I have never heard of the CL rooms at the Poly being overbooked but I am sure they would accommodate as best as possible.

As far as staying anywhere at the resort and going to the lounge... NO. You have to have the gold key to get into the Hawaii building to reach the lounge and you have to be staying Club Level, that is something you pay for when you choose to stay CL. It wouldn't be considered a luxury if everyone was allowed in. :thumbsup2

Thank you for your reply. I guess what I was trying to say was if the CL rooms were taken and you paid for CL, would they place you in a regular room and just give you a key to the CL lounge so you wouldn't have to move? Sorry, I guess I'm just a last-minute decisionmaker.:goodvibes:goodvibes:confused3:confused3

Of course if you paid for CL you would have access to the lounge. But again... I have never heard of the CL at the Poly being overbooked so I can't imagine that would be an issue.

A little over three weeks left here before our very 1st stay at the Poly!!
We are so excited!!!

Hi, does anyone know if it possible to make a paid upgrade from a garden view room to a lagoon or theme park view at check-in and at what approximate cost?

Thanks

The walkway is open.

The only scenario where I could see this even possibly be a problem is if they were completely booked all CL rooms and then had rooms have to go out of service for whatever reason. But I imagine you would get a room in another longhouse with key access to the lounge and some kind of compensation. :thumbsup2

:grouphug: Thanks! Now to top it off, work is requiring non-clinical staff to take three vacation days to off-set costs!!!! I could be using this for WDW!!!!

Ah yes, the mandatory PDO days...so convenient around the holidays. I am so done with that place...we need to do lunch soon as my days are numbered :rolleyes1

You can if there is room availability but as far as price, it would all depend on the season, if you booked with a discount and that room category with the discount is still available? There are too many variables.

You could call the CRO and see if there is availability for the length of your stay for the upgraded room and what the price difference would be? This way you can be aware upon arrival if per chance they still do happen to have an upgrade available.

Well hello everybody:goodvibes
We just returned from our first ever trip to WDW and stayed at the Poly. We loved the place! I had requested a room overlooking the volcano pool on 3rd floor and that's exactly what we got. Everybody was super friendly. The room was perfectly clean and housekeeping kept us loaded up with towels and such all the time.

I especially loved the place at night with the torches lit. Cook's was great and we loved the touch screen ordering! On our very last day (Monday) I noticed they were handing out wristbands to everybody at pool but until then nobody ever checked. We had breakfast at Kona one day and that was nice and our sever was super friendly.

All in all, it was quite a perfect place to stay. NOW......If I HAD to find something wrong than the only thing would be that I didn't think the elevators and some common areas were all that clean. Not so much "dirty" but very old looking with normal wear and tear I suppose. Saw a few cobwebs on the fixtures in the hallway. Seriously though, it was not that big of a deal to us.

anyway......Wish I didn't have to come home:sad2:

Sounds like you need a last minute trip! :goodvibes

I do....I truly do....but alast it is going to have to wait until June. The good news is we are extending that trip to 10 days. We are a little down since we will miss the holiday season. However, I am going to try to distract the kids a little by taking them to see the Muppets today and then we will put the Christmas tree up on Friday and look at all of our Disney ornaments. I think we are up to at least 40!!!

Yes! Lunch soon...I'm sorry you want to leave...I wish I could help but there are days that I question why I am staying. They normally do this in November, but I am always covered by using my time off for our trip to WDW. So I have been spending my time cleaning the house :laundy:
Not how I want to spend my time off from work.

Anyways enough complaining....

Postive focus is we have requested Samoa for this upcoming trip in June. This past year was the first time we did not get our request. We weren't thrilled with our building, but it worked for our short trip.

I am a little worried because the room we got in October was not in the best shape and then when I stopped by at the front desk at 7 a.m. with all of our issues none were resolved that night by 8 p.m.. I ended up having to call again and they had about three people there in a half hours time. I don't want that to happen again since my whole family picked the Poly because of my recommendation.

I never did email WDW, but maybe I should. I didn't sleep for three nights because of that noise coming from our AC unit (first two nights I thought it was just me...light sleeper).

Does anyone have the email address?

You will love it! Make sure the kids get time to enjoy the pool and the kid games they offer. We always loved gettting lounge chairs on the beach and just sipping a cocktail and watching while they played. They will also love the pool slide!!! If anyone gets nervous just tell them my little one was 2 the first time she went down. :santa:

Just seems like yesterday that our countdown clock said 100 days....now look at it.:santa::santa::santa:

just wanted to wish all my Poly peeps a wonderful Thanksgiving hope you all have a great day with your families:dance3:

Posting to see my Ticker. Work has been heinous lately, so stressed, which is really aggravating my MS symptoms. WDW & the Poly are just the medicine I need! Looks like the weather may be nice enough for a pool afternoon--or two--with yummy cocktails, so I think I will cut back on a bit of the decoration-viewing. If i close my eyes I can see and feel the warm Poly breeze....
Happy Thanksgiving.

I hope everyone has a truly happy Thanksgiving! For those of you leaving soon, remember us poor souls stuck in the cooler climates. We love pictures and opinions on your stay. :woohoo:
