ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

love all the pics and helpful info on this thread!! We'll be heading to the Poly for our first stay in 183 days (but who's counting!). Can't wait

You will love the Poly......it's never too early to start counting down :yay:.

Just thought I would let everyone know that we've extended our 2 night stay to a 3 night stay at the Poly. Even though we have never stayed at the Poly before, we just don't think that 2 days is enough time to really take in the whole experience. Not being Poly lovers yet, we are definitely giving it a try. Besides, our DS is going to pass out when he finds out we are staying there. We have always told him that we would never stay at the Poly.:rotfl::lmao:

Congrats on extending another day......it's always great to have more Poly time :goodvibes.

Just staring at my ticker today. Come on time, go faster!!!
Congrats to those the single digits!

I know what you mean. My ticker always seems to really slow down when it gets down to a week or two out.....departure day can never come too fast for me :rotfl: :rotfl:.

Chiming in here with just 28 more days to go!!!

:dance3:

Arrived yesterday! We arrived by car and someone greeted us and took us to check-in. It was silly but nice service. We did online Checkin but our information wasn't ready so we essentially checked in at the desk. Odd but we were 2 hours early, got our room request (yeah!) and the room was ready. Room is great. Tiny bit of wear on the room but nothing bad at all. At the pool today (cabana day!!). The pool heater is working and the temp is perfect. It's a gorgeous day out and the cabana is awesome!! Oh, we also went to mnsshp last night & the monorail was open till 12:30. It was easy and smooth. So thanks to all that voiced their displeasure over the shortened monorail hours!!!

Congrats on getting your room request. Hope you enjoyed the cabana :cloud9:.

Talked to Tim at the bar- changes coming to the Poly to be announced oct 24. Seth our attendant said dvc is being built at gf & they r adding a slide at the quiet pool & that will be the main pool. Then the other pool at gf currently with the slide will be the dvc pool.

Any insight as to what the changes are for the Poly :confused3?

Do you mean Grand Floridian's pool or the Poly's quiet pool will get a slide?I remember one vacation 1n 2001 I believe the quiet pool at Poly did have a slide and removed it before our next vacation.Wow I hope all of these new things taking place start long after all of our vacations.:eek:I love and will always love the Poly the way it is.:cloud9:

I'm sorry just read Grand Floridans pool getting new slide. Please excuse my 1st post!I think I need reading glasses.LOL:goodvibes

OK, I've uploaded all my vaca pics to Facebook, so I'm going to see how well they transfer over here...

Can't wait to find out about the changes. Hopefully it's nothing too drastic. Wouldn't mind new bedding, I think it's time to get rid of the bedspreads. Hope you have a wonderful time. Have a few drinks for me. Tell Tim that one of your disboards friends will be there in a few weeks so he should stock up on the mint :rotfl2:

Thanks, gals!! The kids love the Poly, so it's always easy to catch a happy face. :)

My nail tech is out recovering from surgery, and I was just too paranoid to book at one of the wham, bam places. I ended up doing my pedi myself the night before we left. Got lots of compliments!!

Hope to see lots more pics from the next batch of Poly stayers!!

One glitch was at mnsshp- we got stuck on splash for an hour!!!!! Then were snotty to us as we got off. We went to city hall and they were really nice and gave us some fastpasses for our whole family at any park to make up for our lost time. It worked for us & I was happy they realized we paid good money and we missed out on 20% of the party time. So it ended well!

This reminded me of two things that made me crack up on this trip -

1. One piece of entertainment and advice that all of this rain gave me was while walking through Fantasyland on the way to meet the rest of my group there was a tour group in their rain ponchos. Folks - when purchasing rain ponchos out of the park PLEASE make sure they don't make you look like you are with the KKK!!!! I almost peed in my pants - in fact I may have, since I was soaked by the rain already. I wanted to take a picture but it was pouring out. This was a group of maybe about 50 with white rain ponchos with a point at the top of the hood....just wrong, so very wrong.

2. We were also trapped on a ride for about 45 minutes...RNRRC! We were at least trapped in the room where Aerosmith chats with you, so we had room to spreadout and sit on the floor. All of the others in front of us and behind us really had no where to go and they didn't know how long it was going to be. I felt bad because DSIL and DBIL had our youngest outside and we had no cell phone to tell them what was going on.

Anyway, this woman became our entertainment....the CMs stated no one could get out without an emergency reason. Well this very outspoken woman decideded after two minutes she was not going to wait so she approached the CMs with her group. (Now please note - I try to be sensative to others and I don't believe in picking on others....but this woman asked for it with her loudness.....back to our story.)

So she approached the CMs and stated loudly that they had an emergency and could not wait. Well of course the CMs stated what was the emergency, she hesistated and just stated it was an emergency (she was trying to come up with something and stalling). When the CMs stated they needed a reason, she said "fine, I have the squirts, I have diarrhea"....did I mention she was REALLY LOUD and now the whole room knew....and we also all knew they were lying because they said so when the CMs left the room to figure out how they would get this group out "looks like that excuse worked". Well let's just say we used this conversation for some entertainment, since they felt so eager to share with the room. It made it for some fun comments during our wait....

:rotfl2::thumbsup2:rolleyes1:sad2:

Finally a nice day (last one) but at least it's sunny so Cabana Time!!!! Me with a carmel from Germany in one hand and a Banana Cabana in the other hand (excuse the hair...this was a hat day).

PolyndianPrincessJes Fabulous pictures and your children are so adorable. They look like they are having so much fun.

Congrats on extending another day......it's always great to have more Poly time :goodvibes.
Thank you. We are super excited. I am starting to lose confidence in myself about keeping this secret from our DS.:scared::crazy2:

Loved the poncho part. :rotfl2: OMG thank goodness I was not drinking my coffee when I came to the squirt part. It would have been all over my lap top. Like you said it's not nice to laugh at the expense of others, but I so needed this today. :lmao::rotfl: Great pictures too.

I was disappointed to be in Nieu, so there aren't any photos of the room or view. It ended up being okay, but we really missed Samoa. The view was of the GCH and the fountain that you see as you come out of the GCH and head to the volcano pool, but no balcony since we were on 2nd floor. I would think first floor view is right in the foliage.

Anyway....some photos for all of you die hard Poly lovers. I took these to educate our extended family who have never been here and will be part of our Grand Gathering in June 2012.

Muana Kea (our cabana - no one had it rented for the day so we choose 12 to 4 since we were leaving at 4:30 on our flight. This worked out nicely because we brought our carry-on luggage to the cabana)

Good morning and I hope it makes everyone giggle! Click on the picture...it's a video!

PolyndianPrincessJes.......Awesome pics.....thanks for posting them :goodvibes.

CoachBagFanatic......Looks like you're doing a great job so far keeping the secret from your DS :thumbsup2. I, on the other hand, would last about a day if I was lucky :rotfl: :rotfl:.

1971DBday.......Thanks for the great pics :). I know how you feel about Samoa. Our first stay at the Poly I requested Samao and we got it. We loved it for the location and being so easy to get everything.....plus the views are great ;). I hope you had a nice time in Nieu, though.

Thanks for the laugh I so needed that! :lmao:
We just got back yesterday and I'm feeling a little sad.:sad1:
Last Saturday was our arrival day and we couldn't believe the rain! All day and night! (We saw the "KKK" groups too!) At first the rain didn't bother us, MK was almost empty and we got on rides with little wait. But, we had dinner ressies at Epcot, and all I can say is DON'T GO TO EPCOT IN THE RAIN! We were miserable. Thankfully we got to ditch those nasty, ripped ponchos a couple of days later!
Thanks for the great pics!

I hope you had a much better week to end your trip. Unfortunately, this was the shortest trip we had ever and will ever take to WDW.

Here is a short article on the weather...http://articles.orlandosentinel.com..._high-winds-batter-70-mph-gusts-rain-and-wind

We gave up on Saturday and went to the Tambu Lounge and got a spot near the bar and played cards all afternoon. Something I thought we would never do in WDW. But we were with some family that weren't up for the weather.....we made the most of it even though we got some strange looks.

We've done the EPCOT walk in the rain....not a happy experience. :headache:
