Poly is my dream resort and I'm so excited that I just booked a "magical" stay there for Labor Day! And I have all you WONDERFUL DIS-ers to thank, because without you I would have known and would otherwise never have been able to stay there! :)

I've read Tikiman's Pages, so thanks again for that, but I still have questions about room and longhouse requests.

Is it better to make requests or just hope for the best? I say this because I'm not sure what our priority should be! A view of the castle would be my top choice, but we only have a standard room. So, besides that, what in your opinion would benefit us most? Me, DH and DD4. Hoping to swim in the new pool, and take quick rides to MK and maybe Epcot so close to transportation, but close to food, too, lol. Basically, nothing is a priority though.

Thoughts very much appreciated! And thanks again for everything I've learned from lurking! ;)

My suggestion would be to request Samoa, Lava pool (the new name!) side. You will be very close the GCH (restaurants, shops, monorail platform) and right across from the pool.

If you want outdoor space (ie. balcony or patio) make sure you request it since the second floor rooms don't have balconies.

Wonderful, thanks so much!!! Is balcony or patio better there? I'd be OK with either.

It's really a matter of personal preference. We like a balcony for a view (on that side of Samoa you'll have a view of the pool and possibly a bit of the lagoon and the GF). Some people prefer the first floor for a patio so that their kids have some space out on the lawn to play. Just be warned that a sidewalk goes right by Samoa, so you will need your curtains closed in the evening for privacy!

Our first stay at the Poly, we had a third-floor room and a balcony. I loved it until I saw the patios - I was so jealous of the folks who had that extra space. Our next trip, we did get a patio, but it was 60 degrees the whole time we were there, so we didn't spend a lot of time out on the patio. I think I'm going to request one for our next trip. It will be August and we might not want to be out there because of the heat, but maybe at night it will be nice.

Oh boy... Now something else to think about! Lol, thanks!

Just back from our Poly stay. The GCH was looking nice and restaurants were busy. CMs were very nice and helpful.

We only heard noise in our room one morning early and it was short-lived. They were working on the roof of the GCH at one point but that was also done quickly. Most of the construction seemed to be in the Volcano pool area and the Eastern longhouse area where there is a parking area.

We were upgraded upon arrival to the Tonga longhouse. They told us that they were going to reinstate an old program where they upgrade a 'family of the day' each day. We were the first in the building on Sunday and by the end of the week, I noticed that several more families had arrived.

We had an excellent stay!

Wow, that's some great pixie dust!!! Good for you. Thanks for the CL info…we will be there in 2 weeks!

Just got back from a (too-short) stay at the poly. I booked through orbitz, standard view room with 30% off and the the orbitz 15% on top of that. Got there and found out we had been upgraded to club level! Great surprise and a wonderful stay. We didn't mind the construction and were largely unaffected by it - longer walk to ttc wasn't my favorite thing but not awful either. Bungalows look amazing but at $2000/night, I doubt I will ever see the inside of one!

We just changed our BC 10 night stay to a split stay with the Poly. :goodvibes

We will do 5 nights at each, starting with the Poly.

So excited!

This is somewhat random, but can anyone tell me if Tambu Lounge serves the individual 'Ohana bread puddings during the afternoon? Or is it only possible to order from there at night after 'Ohana is open for dinner?

Thanks!

We will be staying at the Polynesian for the first time in November. Yay!!! Which longhouse should we request for a standard room?

What type of work is going to be done out front? They are not taking the lush scenery and water away are they? :(

Okay, I feel like after the bashing I've done, I owe this one to the Poly.

When we got home, I wrote a letter explaining my experience. This morning I got a very apologetic phone call from Guest Services and a very generous offer for a stay once construction is finished.

My wife is pretty soured on Disney, but maybe it will be enough to get us back there before too long.

Again, after all the nastiness I've put out, I wanted to let everyone know they heard my complaints and did something to make it up to us. That was nice.

is the new pool supposed to be open by May 20th?

If not, are they still giving Poly resort guests a ticket to visit one of the water parks? Or do they send poly guests to another resort pool?

Lots if exciting changes to our favorite resort! I am trying to figure out rooms, too, since our favorite...Tahiti....has been renamed and is now DVC only. Lots of research to do! :)

Has anyone done the luau in the summer? We are going in August and wondering if it will be too hot.

We've done it a couple of times in August and didn't have any problems with the heat. The only thing that I was concerned about was if the Luau was going to get cancelled due to thunderstorms. It didn't happen to us, but it was cancelled due to bad weather a couple of nights after we were there.

Congrats on the great upgrade, glad you had a great stay :wizard:.

You are going to love the Poly :goodvibes.

Our favorite is Samoa. We loved how convenient it was as it was just steps from the volcano pool, GCH, Captain Cooks, and the beach :).

My family is going to Disney the first of June. Will the pool be open?

I haven't really kept up on the progress of things as my next Poly trip isn't until mid-August, but the last I heard was that the pool was scheduled to reopen in March/April.

Thanks again! If you can't tell, I'm struggling on which resort to stay in this time. Poly is my dream resort, but I'm terrified the girls wouldn't have a pool to swim in! :confused3
