Marathon Weekend 2026

How long is everyone taking off from running after MW? My quads are finally relaxing a bit today and I’m actually thinking about an easy peasy cruise around SSR tomorrow morning. Crazy??? 🤪
I’m planning to try running tomorrow morning. I’m mostly caught up on sleep. I did strength training today and have been walking and stretching. My quads are still sore but hopefully I can at least manage an easy run.

I’m taking a couple weeks off, other than walking, yoga and maybe some light strength workouts. Now that the marathon is over, I really am hoping to get my IT band issues resolved. My next race is not until May, so downtime fits in my schedule. It’s the Indy mini, btw. It’s soooo much fun! You get to run a full lap around the iconic Indianapolis speedway. If anyone is planning on being there, let me know!!!!

We made it home a few hours ago. I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate this community. So much support and encouragement, especially to someone running her first marathon and has all the nerves and uncertainty that goes along with that. I truly don’t know that I could have done it without you guys!!!! Thank you for the advice, wisdom, humor and dose of reality I needed!!

Sorry I didn’t make it to DATW, but loved meeting everyone at HH. I did stop by the light pole briefly, but my nerves were running rampant so needed to sit in the corral with some music to drown out everything else. Sorry to those I missed and thank you to those I managed to say hello to before I left!

I am so proud of myself for accomplishing my goal! I’m still on such a high from it and can’t wait to do it again!!!!! And….I got my picture with the goat!!! Dream come true!!!!😍🥰😍

Jealous of the marg! That was what I wanted, but I think I finished too fast (before 11) and had to settle for a beer that my friend was able to grab me.
They start selling them at 10 :)

I’m going to do an easy jog tomorrow with hopefully a short swim too. With a 23km trail run next weekend, I can’t take too much time off.

This!! It ain’t nothing like that self-pride and fulfilling joy!! Good for you! Congrats!!
Thank you!!!
Congrats @WDW 4 ME!

My legs are almost not sore. I will probably do a short run fri, sat, or sun depending on weather. But I’m feeling like I could go tomorrow!
Congrats to you as well!! And sore legs….i, like you, am feeling a lot better in that area. But gosh… anything downhill, be it stairs, a slight slant/hill, my quads would let me know how abused they were. Still a bit tender today!

I'm home and just filled out my Disney hotel survey. Haven't gotten one from RD yet.

Meeting y'all IRL was great during my brief time at the light pole on Sunday and DATW. I don't have any other RD races this spring, but definitely want to come to the whatever next meetup I'm at.

I had my first run today after the race. After about 20 minutes of shuffling I achieved long run pace for 10 minutes and felt like I was flying. Kudos to anyone doing lifting. Couldn't be me.

I'm pretty sure I want to run the Austin Marathon in mid February, which bills itself as "the running social event of the year." My friends who have run it before say great things, but I'm don't think it'll be quite the same.*

*one thing that definitely won't be the same and I'm good with is the starting corrals. For the marathon, there are only 4, and the last one starts about 15 minutes after the first.

Yeah, I’m doing the Donna half in a few weeks and the start line is a five minute walk from my hotel. I don’t even think there are actual corrals, just lining up with your pace.

Ran Goofy - I think my biggest issue is I’m still mentally exhausted and a sleep deprived. Not sure why but still haven't managed to avoid waking up at 2 since the marathon. That being said, I seriously contemplated running this morning. I’m in Austin and it was beautiful this morning when I went out to get coffee. I was thinking I still had clean running gear in my bag… but I didn’t because I realized it would be a bad idea. Plan is to start running again next weekend.

I actually did a strength training class today…..but kept all my leg weight REALLY light. Those squats were no joke! But I think I’ll hold off on running until next week…..mostly because these 20 degree temps are too cold. I’m a fair weather runner, so I’ll be needing dry and warmer temps to lure me out.

I’m a big believer in listening to your body as you get back to running or training for another race.

That said, this year I committed to taking a full two weeks off running after marathon weekend. It’s the only two weeks of the year where I’m not running and I’m hoping it keeps the running fresh. I’m always curious about what my appetite/sleep/mood would be without the running schedule, and I know I’ll return to it soon enough.

I still have walks on my schedule, it just takes longer!

Reporting back from DC. We were supposed to fly back Tuesday night, but fiancé got food poisoning and we decided it would be better to just sleep on property an extra night.

Re: First Dopey, went as amazing as it could have. Somehow the wakeups did not bother me, and I didn’t hit the wall at mile 20 like I did during MCM. Loved my dopey experience overall, but did miss some quality family time as the sleep schedule / race recovery kept us from the park.

Also DISO the reusable marathon weekend beer cup, we missed getting them by about 20 or so people in line when they ran out :( if anyone is willing to part with one or have multiple, I am happy to pay you for it!
