So sorry to hear some of you have had these poor check-in experiences. Ours was pretty uneventful. I did online check-in so when we got to Hawaii they just handed me the envelope and that was that. I had to ask for leis and for a birthday button for Nic. I don't really feel like we got to know any of the CMs working down there because we don't stop to ask questions about anything unless its for a printout of our bill. Today we didn't receive our ME packet so I had to ask for that too. I'm a pretty low maintenance guest since we know what we are doing, but I definitely think their lack of personal interaction could leave people feeling less than welcome.

It's me...the author of the very cranky post this morning. Just to give you all an update..after a rather lengthy discussion with an extremely helpful CL CM this morning followed by another moderate setback this afternoon, Disney and the Poly have made things right for us. They did remove all charges for last night's stay so we are satisfied. We are now in a lovely room on the 3rd floor!

I appreciated Tikiman's earlier post about the benefits of checking in early. Had our plane not landed 2 hours late we would have checked in at 8:00 pm rather than 10:05 pm. I think that the after 10:00 situation had a considerable effect on our check-in experience.

I appreciate all of you lending a sympathetic ear to my rather rambling rant this morning. I'm glad it all turned out ok in the end!

I'm SO glad they made things right for you. Now go have an awesome vacation!

What building were you in we are in Tahiti and don't know if we want to go to the beach or not especially if it is raining.

We were in Hawaii--right on the beach. pixiedust:

We will be there for most of the same days you will be there. From everything I've read, the earliest any construction would begin is sometime during September, but I don't remember any dates in the beginning of September.

There isn't any construction in Sept the pool rehab was pushed to Jan

We stayed 4 days this past weekend Garden View CL for my daughters 5th birthday. We are an hour away and travel to Disney often. The service was less than spectacular. We requested 3rd or 1st floor via several Emails. Of course we got 2nd, they did move us. We were never given our leis, had no patio furniture, and the staff was just ambivalent. I finally vented and the Duty Manager spoke with me. Like TgrLvsPooh has stated in her Live Thread, by the way, I meant to say hi, but I did not see you later in our stay, the food line was crazy. People taking multiple and I mean multiple plates of food. One night a family in front of us had three plates of corn dogs, maybe 40 pieces, and left my daughters 8 pieces... I am also a pretty low key traveler, but the service was just not what it use to be. Food gone in an 45 minutes...come on. I will not stay Poly CL again. The view is great, but just not worth the money when you get mediocre service.

Happy to hear you finally were able to get your request of a third floor room and were compensated for the previous night.

pixiedust: for a very Magical Vacation with no more bumps in the road!

I can not believe people are so inconsiderate to be taking multiple plates at a time not caring others are in line behind them. So sorry to hear these stories :sad2:

Hey all. I could use some good thoughts. Not sure if it is the lack of sleep and stress or what but I have been coughing and had a sore throat for a couple of days. I do not want to get sick in Disney. Been there done that and ended up in ICU almost on a vent for two weeks. I am being kind of proactive with this and started an antibiotic just in case and I have my inhalator. I just don't want to be sick for this trip.

Ugh my whole family had that crap! Everyone else is over it but me in think mine is due from lack of sleep. Drink some oj and try to rest!

I haven't slept but about an hour a night for the last week. I am hoping this is just my bodies way of rebelling.

Hope you feel better soon. I noticed last night it seemed as if my allergies were starting to fare up again and I might have to start using my Nebulizer on a daily basis. I take my Nebulizer with me to Disney "just in case"

Could also be allergies too and I am asthmatic hence the inhalator. I am going to try an allergy med and use my inhalator and see if it gets any better. I have the antibiotic if it doesn't but I am going to think positive that it will. I am also going to try and get a power nap in today even though I still have a lot to do for the trip tomorrow. I have a feeling I wont sleep tonight due to the excitement so it will give me time to finish everything then. LOL This week just flew by.

Oh my! Our first night at Poly I couldn't wait to wake up and have coffee in my patio ..... But someone"stole " our chairs :). I walked around the pool abd beach looking for them, but nope....gone!! I did get them replaced but it took a concierge request and a phone call!!!

I think the CL food problem comes from people trying to make meals out of the appetizers instead of going to eat out??!! I can't imagine feeding my family this every night, but I did see some doing it at BC. But regardless of food being taken so fast, the CMs should quickly replenish it!!!

My nightmare check-in at the YC CL was at 4:00 in the afternoon so I think it can happen in the afternoon too. I always like a morning arrival best. I'm glad things are getting better for you now, we just left Poly CL and we're on the ME bus.

Ohhhh noooo ocalla. I am so sorry someone took off with your chairs. I know what you mean about making dinners of the offerings. I could do that because I eat so little, would never know it by looking at me, but we could not do this for my dh or my ds's. We are doing mainly CS with a couple of TS dinners thrown in. LOL I don't want to be away from the resort a lot. We will go to the parks but it will be early until about noon, then back to the resort to swim and rest, then maybe back to the parks for a couple of hours. We will play it by ear. Thankfully we have been enough times and we are close enough to go a lot more times that we don't have to do commando. Been there done that in the past and it was not fun nor relaxing.

I got the absolute neatest water bottles yesterday at Walmart. Not only does the cap screw off to use it like a bottle but the whole top screws off too to use it like a glass. Dh was really impressed with them and mentioned that the fact that the top screwed off was great for adding ice......something I never thought of when I bought them but he is right. We can add the ice, then the water, and off to the parks we go. They were only 3 dollars each and they came in I think five colors. They are nice hard plastic too so they are durable and they are a really nice size.

We were so happy being there that we just laughed about it!!! I guess we must have been pretty tired to not hear people outside our window!!!

I totally understand small appetites being able to nibble in CL and get full! We snack so much during the day this could work for me and DD. DH on the other hand needs much more food!!!!

You tour like we do:). So much more relaxing than we used to commando tour!!!

I could use some good Poly mojo guys, if anyone could keep their fingers crossed for me. I wasn't able to book my annual fall trip because of general life upheaval this fall, but the universe may be doing me a solid and things may be falling into place for me to whip up a WDW trip. All that is available is standard view, but heck, I'll take standard view at the Poly over the best room anywhere else. Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde *might* be coming back to WDW, please keep fingers and toes crossed for me!
