ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: January 2012

I have issues! LOL... I just changed my reservation from the art of animation to the Poly. Since I am a Disney agent I wanted to try the AoA but I can't get away from the Poly! What can I say? I will be heading that way in 2 weeks!

I have issues too. I think we all do. I just upgraded us from GV to TPV CL. Disney is a scary addiction.

It's funny, we always talk about staying somewhere else, namely WL and GF, to try something different, and we always end up at the Polynesian. We actually had the GF booked on our last trip and switched. The Poly gets inside you, grabs hold, and doesn't let go.

My ongoing complaint is that our "fridge" does not cool things down. We can't figure out what we need to do to make it work. If you put something in that is already cold, it will keep it cool to cold. But if you put something in that is room temp, it takes FOREVER for it to cool down. Are we doing something wrong here?

So... about the fridge... this is so simple but we didn't think of it either until we complained and they told us what to do.
Next time... crack the cabinet door that holds the fridge. The fridge is basically locked in so it can't breathe so it gets too hot. After a day or two trust me... your drinks will be frozen! I thought they were crazy when they told me but it has worked for us the last 3 trips!

One more recommendation - refrigerators work better when they are full. So definitely crack the door open (we do it too) but if you can put enough in there so it is full, it will work better. So we load it up with any extra water bottles we have to fill it up.

Well, I am not surprised you couldn't stay away I have been really thinking about changing our BWV long weekend this summer to the Poly. But DH and I are going to stick with BWV. We are looking forward to the 1 BDR villa the most and walking to Epcot as well. We aren't planning on going to MK during the weekend so it makes sense...but I just hope I'm not thinking about my favorite resort the whole time!!! Guess I'll have to plan a 2013 vacation at the Poly

We've stayed CL at the Poly now 4 times in the last three years (our prior trips we stayed at Pop Century) ... I figure if we want to see the AoA resort, we'll just head over and walk around.

Hi neighbors! (we live in Morinville) I see we will miss each other by one week in Oct ......we will be there Sept 28 - Oct 7....can't wait for our FIRST POLY GV CL stay!!!

As I know you are avid travelers, and are from my area, I was wondering would you know the customs routine for a flight that starts in the evening , takes a break for the night after arriving in Toronto, then resumes the next morning? I am at a loss as to the process.....feel free to PM me if you have any tips/ or idea how it works!! thanks!

You will love the Poly GV CL ... we like the TPV CL but find it's actually much quieter on the GV side of the building. And if we want to see the fireworks we can head down to the lounge or out to the beach.

Yep! We are only staying 3 nights/4 days but hey I can't complain! I will be there for 5 nights/6 days in September and again in December so I can deal with a quick fix! We are leaving the night of July 3 but we MAY stay to catch the 4th fireworks (on the 3rd) at the MK! We will see!

Hi Everyone!! We are staying at the Poly for 6 nights starting September 8th. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am. I have been to Disney 20+ times and this is my first stay at the Poly. My DH stayed there when he was 7 but doesn't remember much. We have been promising the kids a Poly stay for a few years now and we are making this our "go big or go home" trip. We have 3, DD10, DS7 and DD4 (she will be 5 on Oct 1) This trip has been rescheduled 2x, we were supposed to go in May but, DH ended up having a conflict with work, then we were supposed to go the last week of September to celebrate YDD's b-day but we found out ODD has a cheer competition the day we were supposed to come home so we moved the trip up a few weeks. Thankfully when I rescheduled I was still able to get all the same ADR's including Ohana even though I was at about 160 days out. Looking forward to sharing the love with you all!!
