Sheesh, I was all worried about car, luggage, check-in when I thought we were driving. This morning someone on the DIS posted about SWA fall sale on airfare and we booked it! Saved so much money and now we don't have the 2 day drive to look forward to, thank goodness! Also got to extend vacation time just a bit on both ends and will have 7 full days instead of 5! Now I have to figure out where to stay that first night since we arrive late. I'm thinking POR since it fits 5.

I'm kinda glad I have some more planning to do...I've missed it since we've booked everything!

If we ask POR to transfer our luggage to Poly while we spend the day in a park, do you know what time we can expect it to arrive? Is there anything special I need to do to help it go smoothly?

Just a suggestion off the top of my head: Depending on how late you're arriving might it be easier and cheaper to just check the prices on the Marriott at the airport? It sits right inside the airport in Orlando. Then you could just get up the next morning and head over to the Poly. You can check in and they'll store your luggage until your room is ready.

Safe travels to you. Can't wait to read your posts once you arrive. Aloha!

Thanks! At the barber shop now because the one thing on DHs list didn't get done! Then he was mad I didn't have time to clean the pool...

We check in on the 22nd and did online check-in this morning. When I requested Tokelau, it said that there was a problem with that request and it would not add it to the reservation. We already have a request in for Tokelau that I can see noted on my email from them when I made my final payment. I thought I had read that they might be closing Tokelau for some test rooms. Could this be the case since it would not let me request it? I know that these are only requests, but would love to stay in Tokelau!

Hi everyone! Yes I'm sad we r not in Disney anymore! Can't wait to book another trip!
We had a great trip and really loved our 1st stay at the poly. We never had any towel animals made up for us from mousekeeping though. From all the pics I'd seen and posts I'd read I thought this was something everyone got. Is it a special service I needed to request? We stayed in Tokelau 1st floor garden view- we had the quiet pool right outside our room. We stayed 5/24-5/28, memorial day weekend.

Very interesting. It of course begs the question as to which other pools on Disney property need to be gated! I just stayed at CBR and that one has a gate. At WL and the villas pool, neither were gated when I was there last May. Looks like maybe we'll see some more gates being installed at other properties too??
They are required to install fence and gates if they do a major overhaul. If they do nothing then they are not required.
We checked into the poly today in tokelau. We had a good day but our room wasn't exactly perfect. Our patio door wouldn't open and we have had no signal on our tv or Internet all day. They say it's because of the weather but I wanted to check and see if anyone else was having no signal problems or I'd it was just us.
Last year the poly added a whole bunch of new channels to the line up. Unfortunately, the way they did it was to switch to satellite dish. This includes Internet and television. Anyone that has used satellite has experienced the cloudy day "searching for signal" error. They just haven't fixed that inconvenience yet.

We were in Rapi Nuie from 5/27-5/31 and had towel animals every day. I'm sorry you did not get any. My kids loved them!

Unfortunately towel animals are really the luck of the draw with whomever you get as a mousekeeper. We have had 3 Poly stays so far, 2 in Tuvalu and one in Hawaii. We have rarely had towel animals. Our first trip there was already a small towel animal in the room when we arrived, plus the normal Mickey head on the bed. There was nothing after that. On another trip we got a towel alligator one day (our kids stuffies were posed around it), but that's been the extent of our towel animals. I know others post here how they get great animals everyday.

I've stayed at the Poly 4 times and never received a towel animal. They are just something that some housekeepers leave (I have received towel animals at other resorts though). It is something special and magical so if it happens, it is something extra. But it is not something that they do all the time.

They are required to install fence and gates if they do a major overhaul. If they do nothing then they are not required.

Ah-ha! That makes sense.

That would definitely be more cost effective. We didn't want to rent a car/carseats and were hoping to use ME to and from the airport. I'm hoping for decent AP discounts for Oct/Nov to make it more palatable :)

I would love to see how tight the rooms at POR would be for all 5 of us and am kind of trying to justify it, I think! The resort is so pretty and a boat ride to DTD in the evening might be doable depending on how late we arrive. Our flight gets in at around 7pm, if all goes according to schedule. Leaves an hour or two to look around and I wanted to upgrade to the AP before going to the parks the next day.

I wish the cheap flights arrived at MCO earlier in the day.

Hello! My family and I will be arriving for our first visit at the Poly 7 weeks from today!:goodvibes

For anyone who has been to the Poly recently, what was your ME route from the airport to the Poly? I know it changes (at least I think it does), but I was just curious about around what stop the Poly is.

Thank you!:goodvibes

It varies. I have stopped at the WL first... I have stopped at the CR first and the Poly has been our first stop so it will just depend.

I am processing all my photos and do plan on doings trip report. Stay tuned..

I can't believe this is the first time I have seen this part of the board.

We stayed in Tuvalu last year the week after Thanksgiving and loved it!

We (my mother, brother, myself and 4 year old princess) decided to splurge and go for a club level, magic kingdom view room this year, the 2nd week in December.

We've also decided to roll the dice in hopes we have weather as nice as our last trip (75*-80* all week!) and take one day to just relax at the pool and rented the Premium cabana for the day.

I'm super excited to read more about Club level and reviews of the cabanas before our trip!

I'm trying to make it an extra special experience for my daughter as last years trip went awry and left her with some pretty sour memorie.

Hopefully going for the club level experience will give me the best shot at an amazing re-do trip with her Gramma and her favorite Uncle!
:)
