ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

Wondering if any of you Poly folks about to go could do me a huge favor? Pretty, pretty please with a huge Lapu Lapu on top?

I might be going insane -- which is entirely probable -- but I thought I saw a Lilo plush there at Trader Jack's? When we were there a couple weeks ago, we got our kiddo a 15" Stitch plush and I thought there was a Lilo there right next to him. Of course, now she's asking if Santa can bring her a Lilo for Christmas.

(I called Disney's Merchandise Mail Order and they said they couldn't locate any Lilo plush in their systems).

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to tell me if they spot a Lilo plush in either of the Poly gift shops. And, if you're trying for sainthood and the undying gratitude of a stranger on the DIS Boards, if you managed to write down the item code from the back of the tag to pass along to me, I'd be your virtua-Best Friend Forever... and you'd send my 3 year-old over-the-moon. I'm sure, with that item number (for example, 15" Stitch Plush's item number is right above the sku on the tag and it reads: 122-44835), I can then call back Disney's Merchandise Mail Order and have them send it to me.

Sorry, I know that's a lot to ask of someone trying to enjoy their Poly time and I'm not expecting anyone to... just thought I'd ask in case. At any rate, cheers and enough of my begging.

Yes, check on ebay. I just did a search and came up with quite a few. Good luck!

Why don't you call Disney Mail Order? 407-363-6200 Or you could contact Memories By Betsy and see if she could pick you one up while she is out shopping? I am sure she would be happy to do so! www.memoriesbybetsy.com

I am not going until November but if you haven't gotten her by then let me know and I would be happy to pick one up for you. You could just mail me a check. :thumbsup2

Hi I am hoping someone can tell me if the poly rooms and or lounge get tbs. We are going next week and hope to be watching the phils in the post season. If not in the room I need to find somewhere for my husband and son to go. Thanks!

This made me chuckle! My kids school cafeteria has started playing music on Fridays as a "treat" if the kids have a good week in there (noise levels down). When they came home last Friday they were singing AC/DC and my 5 y/o told me they were playing my favorite "rock band" songs (My Own Worst Enemy & The Middle). At 1st I was a little peeved because of some of the lyrics (I hope they have the clean radio versions!) but then I thought hey, they already know the songs (from us at home) and while I don't necessarily think they are school appropriate it's a reward for the kids that they think is totally cool and they hear FAR worse stuff on the darn bus!! :rotfl2:

So as you said... bring on the rock! :lmao:

Hopefully they haven't learned the hidden lyrics we used to sing along to these songs at school dances in the 80's!!! Ha ha! I'm sure they have the clean versions, my kids love singing the classics in the car with me, funny thing is, now I pay attention to the lyrics and realize I never knew what half of the songs I used to listen too (and my parents too) were really saying - yikes!

Me too! :goodvibes I was up an hour and a half early this morning because I am dreaming, bad dreams, about the trip. Why is it in my dreams no matter how fast I try to move I can never get where I am going but when I am there it flies by..

2 weeks from today.:yay::dance3: I have convinced my kids that I postponed the trip until December... let the surprising commence.

ooooo, great surprise idea!!! I know about the dreams, I still have the 'haven't studied for a test dream', now transforming into, 'running late for EMH and the alarm didn't go off!'

I don't want to give folks the wrong idea. I love that kind of music. I am of the AC/DC, Black Sabbath age and always listened to it. My problem with it was that it was 10am and the only people at the pool were parents and their little kids. It was sooo loud we couldn't talk to each other. I felt like I was at a concert. When the bar opened up we tried ordering drinks and couldn't be heard. I was ready to write down what I wanted. That is when I went to complain. It was just too much.
I really don't think this is the type of thing I want at the nice relaxing Poly pool. I don't care of its Hannah Montana or Pink Floyd, and yes that music blasted too. After I complained to the resort manager, the music was turned down some so we could actually hear each other but was still annoying. He said they do this type of music on Mon-Wed-Fri for the teen set. This happened on Tuesday. Sorry but if I want this type of atmosphere I'll go hang out at one of the Vegas nightclub pools. LOL

I know I'm getting old (38), constantly feeling like the TV/radio is too loud, this would have been very annoying to me as well, I totally understand your point! I really hope they play more of the aloha-type music for our stay! (even though I like all types of music, just for the theme - isn't that why so many of us like the Poly, the theme!)

Having my usual pre-trip freak out.......I'm always afraid I'm going to forget something:headache:Someone tell me to just breathe-Friday morning we'll be at the Poly:cool1:

Do any of you Poly experts know how much it costs to use the washer and dryer in the laundry facility at the Poly?

Thanks.

We (me and my wife) are so excited to take our little man to Disney World! He's almost 4 and is very excited as well...... He keeps telling me "Daddy we sleep x more times and then we go to DISNEY WORLD!".

Add the fact the we get to share the experience with my dad and mom (who has always wanted to stay inside the Disney property).

We check in on Saturday! Can't wait to check out the Polynesian--and all the Disney has to offer! Soooooooo excited! :cool1:

Thanks for all the input we have/will recieve on the site!

Earz Up! :thumbsup2

We fly out Saturday morning at 8:20 a.m.! I got some of my packing done last night but still quite a bit to do.

Of course, even though I'm REALLY excited, I'm also slightly stressed which is causing my face to break out. Anyone else have this problem pre-vacation? If you see a monster checking into the Polynesian Saturday around noon you'll know it's me. :rotfl:

Someone just tell me it will all be okay and there will be no hitches in the plans...

I'm 99% positive it was $2 per wash and $2 per dry. They also had single load wash/dry supplies there for sale if I am recalling correctly for $1 (could have been $2) a piece. The fabric softener they sold though was not the sheet kind, it had to get loaded into the wash (which I didn't realize until after I purchased :headache: ). We brought a roll of quarters with us, but there was a change machine available. :thumbsup2

I haven't been in February to the Poly! What should I expect differently, besides weather? Anything different? Are people still active around pool this time of year? I was there this past August.;)
