ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

We were suppossed to be checking out tomorrow from a 10 day stay at Poly but today at lunch dh said he is having such a great trip he could use a few more days- so now we are staying till Saturday.:cool1: he is usually ready by day 8 to go home. This is our first stay at Poly and I think it will be the only resort we stay now.We have an 8 month old(who got his first haircut today at MK!) and a 9 yr old dd and it has really worked out great here for us.Everything has been great-except you need to be one of the seven dwarfs to fit under the shower head!

SO jealous of you right now. Guess you are having a great time!! :goodvibes

Hi everyone :wave2:

My DH, myself, and my 3 kids (DS4, DS3 and DD1) will be staying at the Poly Jan 23-30. We have never stayed at the Poly before.... but we cannot wait! I am already planning like mad! In all my crazy planning I came across TikiMan's website. Such a wealth of information... but unfortunately I found some bad news on there! It looks like the Volcano pool will be closed when we are there  My boys will be so upset if they don't get to go down a slide! I know the weather will be hit or miss as to whether it would be warm enough to swim or not, but in the event it is warm enough I really wanted to enjoy the pool. I know that there is the "quiet" pool as a back up option, but we were looking forward to the themed pool. Anyways... enough of my rambling, what I am trying to get at is: if the Volcano pool is in fact closed when we are there would we be allowed to use, say, the Grand Floridian's themed pool? I would never do it unless I was directly told by a CM that it was alright. I was just wondering in the past with pool closures was this an option? Thanks so much everyone!!!

:welcome:

Yes if the volcano pool is closed you can use the pool at the GF!

DOUBLE DIGITS! Only 99 more days until our next vacation at the Poly! :cool1: Can you tell I am excited? When we started in planning in March of 2009 it seemed like time was dragging, well now we are getting so close.

Congrats on getting to the double digits. I started planning our March trip at 289 days so I feel your pain :goodvibes

Hi Bluejasmine

I remember you asking a while back about pressing and the cost. I can't recall if you got an answer but saw the list posted on the CR/BLT thread and thought I would pass along the current prices.

You would subtract 75% of the dry cleaning cost for pressing only. Below are the full dry cleaning costs with the 75% in ( )

Dress $11.50 ($2.88)
Pant $6.50 ($1.63)
Shirt $6.25 ($1.56)
Skirt $6.50 ($1.63)

It notes there is a $5 minimum Call for service by 8:30a for return by 6:30p

Here is the link for the thread and it was post#1639

Is so happy to have her e-mail notifications back! :cool1:

We're down to 35 days until our F&W fun. While we aren't at the Polynesian this trip, I can't bring myself to post on the BC/YC thread. . .The Polynesian is still home. . .

Glad to see so much excitement and reading of recent stays. Keep those reports coming guys and happy travels if anyone is leaving soon!

This is interesting because the EAST POOL is supposed to be closed for refurb during this time. Are you sure the VOLCANO POOL is going to be closed too? Where did you hear this?

You're going to love the Poly! I hadn't heard that the Volcano pool was going to be closed.

Also, I LOVE your Etsy store. Esp. the pumpkin tutu. :lovestruc Any DIScounts for fellow poly loving DISers? ;) I could totally go broke buying those things!

The kids are better today. So excited! 7 days from now I'll be sitting by the pool! (it might be the only day though the 10 day isn't looking so grand. We haven't seen the sun in Florida for 4 days now.

Thanks - we're leaving in 2 days  Can't believe it! Thanks so much to everyone on this thread - so much great information - and keeping me excited for the trip the last few months. :thumbsup2

I will definitely post a review when we get home. I'm following a live TR right now, and loving every minute of it! Gotta go change the laundry ;)

Well, here's question #1. The Value and Mod resorts I've stayed in have had fairly good food courts, but Capt. Cook's seems to get iffy reviews for breakfast. Is it worth using a CS credit for? If not, where is a good place for a CS breakfast nearby. (We're eating breakfast at Sunshine Seasons two days when we're at EPCOT).

Whoops! I just went back and re-read and it is the East Pool (aka Quiet Pool) that will be closed. When I read it the first time I thought it said they were working on the zero entry area... when infact it says they are putting in a zero entry area. Phew! I feel better! Sorry if I caused any undue stress for anyone. But I am so thrilled that we'll be able to use the Volcano Pool! :cool1:

It was the East Pool I read about, not the Volcano, I was confused LoL... But I am soooo glad it isn't the Volcano Pool! Woo hoo!!! I can't wait to stay at the Poly. We ate at Kona Cafe last time we were at Disney and LOVED it! My DH is more excited than me! Thanks for the compliments on my Etsy shop :) Let me know what all you're interested in and I'll see what kind of discount I can some up with :) I hope you have a great trip!!!

I sent you a convo on Etsy with my questions!

Does anyone know how long the Spirit of Aloha show lasts? Also, is Luau Cove next to the beach where the Electrical Water Pageant is shown?

I like Captain Cooks for both breakfast and a quick service lunch/dinner. But since breakfast is usually cheaper than lunch/dinner meals, I would recommend using your CS credit on lunch/dinner rather than breakfast (well, unless you are on the quick service dining plan!) For breakfast, I love getting a mickey waffle with bacon and for the kids, they have scrambled eggs with bacon and fruit and juice - a filling and non-sugary breakfast! They also have Tonga Toast at Capn Cooks but I find this to be too sweet for me but lots of folks love it!

Cool, thanks for letting us know!

We loved Captain Cooks! Agree with Tinkerbellie16 that breakfast is the best quality and value. I highly recommend Tonga Toast with a side of bacon...I was able to share with my younger two kids and really stretch our CS meals! Try it out and form your own opinion. If it's not for you (personally I don't like the food at O'hana's for breakfast) - you can always grab CS breakfast at one of the parks. :wizard:
