ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

Has anyone skipped a room request? This is my first time at the Poly, and I was thinking of taking the luck of the draw.

However, I will have a toddler and an infant, so I am thinking I want to be close to GCH?

There was a term some pages back: Poly Plummet.
I'm glad to know what I'm suffering from now has a name!

For those who may be worried about the rooms, I was glad to see that 3508 was in much better shape this trip than it was in December 2009.

My biggest complaint this trip was the flyer that was shoved under our room door on Friday night for a local Italian restaurant. Hawaii is supposed to be a secure building, but obviously it is not. A CM blew it off when I asked about the lack of security and stated that "those people get in all the time and it is a constant problem." It made me wonder just how many people who should not be there are gaining access and roaming the building.

The Poly Plummet! That's totally what I have! And I've already been back for over a week. :guilty:

I got one of those flyers, too, and I thought it was really weird -- that's never happened to me at a WDW resort before!

We got our ME luggage tags today! I'm so excited, makes it seem that much more close. 5 weeks from today!:thumbsup2

Our bags are going down a few days before we are...so I get to start packing soon!!! I think we finally got our cold weather, so I can start putting my warm weather clothes in the suitcase!
:banana::banana::banana:

I can already feel the sand...

11 days til I check in for the first time!!!!! It is a mommy only, relaxation trip!!! I can't wait!!!

I am leaving it up to the Poly gods as to where my room will be. I was originally going alone (and very excited to be doing so), but my mother invited herself along...which would be great if we were close and she actually was as passionate about WDW as I am. However, if she drives me crazy I am ditching her :rotfl:!!!!

I am going to be bringing Hubby and my 2 boys in July, but I am happy I can check it out before hand so I can be acclimated to where things are. I just can't wait!!!:cheer2:

We booked a Garden view room for the end of this month. What are the chances at check in being able to upgrade to a TPV. We checked online and no availability. We aren't looking for pixie dust as far as it being free and want to pay for it but seeing as though saying not available wondered what are chances are?

Did you look it up as a room only reservation with no discounts or one of the room only discounts? It might be available as a room only reservation and the number of rooms set aside for the discount might be sold out.

We requested Niue, as my DH has a medical condition and wanted to be close to the pool and the GCH. We had a 1st floor room facing the pool. It was an amazing location. Room was clean, hallways clean, great mousekeeping! I could not be happier with our location and the Poly in general. You will love boarding the monorail in a stroller!

I did not think any of the longhouses were in a "bad" location, but some were closer the GCH and pools.

Have a great time!

I will try that online. thanks. I also called today but now that you mention it I think she looked it up as a package. I will just ask anyway when I arrive as well. If it is meant to be it is meant to be. We will be happy I am sure no matter what.

I changed my email address and lost all my privileges to post and pm for 2 weeks :sad2: since I had to retrieve my old email to get privileges back.

I felt very alone to not be able to announce reaching 180 days and getting the ADRs.

Now its done, so lets celebrate that :worship: our TA secured breakfast at the Castle on May 2nd :banana::banana: We also will be eating at 8 other ressies, including Bfast at 'Ohana on Mai 4. :cool1:

Just did on-line check in :cool1:

It is so cold here in New England, I may not come back from my trip :rotfl:

I did mine yesterday! Only 9 days left for me too. I live in MA too and today I was lucky, so lucky (not!) to be scraping the ice off the windshield!!!

Looking forward to some sunshine!

We were scraping the ice off up here in southern Maine this am. 27 days, and we'll be leaving it all behind! :) Poly here we come! 13th stay and celebrating our 25th! There's no other place I'd rather be. It's so romantic strolling the Tiki lined paths at night and watching Wishes from the beach.

Back from our wonderful SURPRISE trip!!!

Managed to pull off the surprise, which was so much fun. First two days were HOT, but the rest were wonderful.

As for the Poly, for us, the location alone makes it the resort we want to stay at, but here's our review:

The Bad:

We had a TPV room reserved and asked for Tahiti, which we got. Unfortunately we got a room that was set up to face Space Mountain, rather than the Castle (connecting door I'm guessing) AND had the view of the castle partially obstructed by palm trees. I was pretty irked about that -- the room to our left was classified as a LV room and I really think our room should have been as well. I would have had no complaints with the room (the view was amazing) if Disney hadn't put the upcharge on it.

Captain Cook's: Selection was limited and the way the place works is confusing, which adds to lines. I would definitely check it out off-peak to get a sense of the flow.

The Great:

Everything else. We love Tahiti. We loved being on the first floor. We loved the view (I'm just annoyed that rooms with the same view were LV rates). The volcano pool was crowded, but not unbearably so. They were checking room keys some of the time and giving out bracelets. The music was fun for the kids, and if you were at the deeper end it wasn't very loud. Kona was great about moving up our reservation. Mousekeeping was wonderful about coming late in the afternoon after we realized we'd left the Do Not Disturb tag up. Transportation was awesome. We love Tahiti because of this -- close to the TTC and the water launch. The "private" beach in front is so relaxing.

Wish we could have stayed longer!!!
