I've taken 50mg of Benedryl and am still sneezing my brains out.
Granted, I live in a wooded area near a river valley, so I don't stand a chance during 'hay fever' season but this is really annoying.
:sad2: :furious:

The pollen levels in our area are off the charts right now. We have all been sniffling, sneezing. Yuck. The boys both take Allegra and that is about the only thing that works for them. DD and I take Claritin over the counter and that works fine for us but our allergies aren't that bad. Have you been to an allergist? They might have a better course of treatment for you.

I'm having a hard time this year, too. I'm on Clarinex, Singulair and Flonase. I'm having my 2nd round of allergy testing done next month. Hoping shots will help.

I hope you feel better soon!

So, I guess the ragweed has started? Both my son and I have had increased post nasal drip over the last week. I am using Flonase.

They have gotten bad this week, haven't they? Even taking my Claratin and using my Flonase, I am still sneazing!

MickyMouseGal--How can you still function and take Benadryl? It knocks me out! I wouldn't be awake, let alone able to type. :teeth:

I have a pretty good Benadryl tolerance, but if at all possible l take it at bed time. When I woke up (rather, when my puppy woke me up) this morning, I felt much better... although my mouth was so dry I swear gerbils must have been nesting there overnight.

I took allergy shots as a kid, but now I only have a few bad days during the late summer/early fall. I'm going to the store today to grab some Claritin. For those who have used it, is that the best OTC non-drowsy antihistamine? Benadryl works great for me, but I'm zonked afterwards.

I'm struggling with them too. I take Claritin but it doesn't really work for me anymore, and we never got around to seeing about getting me into an allergist this summer like we had been planning. Add to the fact that I'm packing and cleaning (stirring up lots of dust), because I head back to school in a week, and I'm definitely not doing well.
Allergies suck!

For those of you suffering, I would say run to your doctor! I have had allergies all of my life, but they seem to be getting worse with age. :( I kept putting of visiting my doctor, but when I couldn't sleep thru the night without waking up and gaping for breath, I knew I had to do something. My doc looked at my sinuises and said "how can you breathe?" Um, not very well. She has put me on Claratin, Flonase, and an inhailer. I feel soooo much better!!!!! The only thing that sucks is my insurance will no longer cover allergie meds, but that is another topic.
